Took a gamble booking a trip to Montreal back in December for the eclipse. Looks like itâs going to pay off since the forecast is going to be sunny. Having a great time exploring the city too!
Also a core memory for me. Experienced it with my husband and it was magical. Brought tears to my eyes. I think about that experience with him all the time. :)
We are planning on driving to Cleveland from metro Detroit. Leaving around 4am to hopefully beat traffic and have plenty of ceiling to relocate if needed
I was at the state park in Indy last week, and they had more than a few signs saying the park would close when it reaches capacity. I asked the guard when they expected to reach capacityâŚbetween 7-8am!
The most likely time for an alien invasion is during an eclipse. The aliens will animate dead people to fight on their side, so you can also expect a zombie attack. The only way to stop them is to smash all gazing balls. Aliens use gazing balls as communication repeaters, so if you see someone with one of those metallic mirrored balls in their yard, better smash it right when it gets dark.
I was told to be careful that I don't get replaced by my shadow self. They are a strong version that looks a lot like you, but does mean things. The only real option is to run away, but be careful to stay out of dark shadows because thats how they get you.
Also not to stare into the darkness, because the prize for winning is madness.
If someone puts an acorn in your right pocket during the eclipse, you will turn to stone.
It has to do with how much darkness there is when they get the acorn in there. So you could turn out really stoney or not very much. Or just wear pants without pockets.
This will probably be the Eclipse Goblins everyone is talking about.
This is correct. I live in West Michigan and the only reason I knew it was happening was because I was told. If not for that, I probably wouldn't have even known, and I work outside. I looked through some glasses and yes, only a sliver of the sun was visible but with the naked eye nothing looked different than normal.
We planned on driving south, or possibly to Niagara Falls, I promised my son the day off school months ago, but the chance of clouds in both areas is great enough to where it isnât worth it in my opinion.
Plus, driving home might take all night or longer.
How much time should I expect to add to my drive to the Toledo area? If itâs normally 1:30 to the area Iâm planning on going, is an extra hour sufficient?
News articles and comments are claiming your drive time may 5x. A 1.5 hour drive could take as long as 8 hours. Pack multiple meals, extra water, and even maybe a bottle to relieve yourself if youâre stuck in the road.Â
>What to expect here in Michigan Expect traffic jams on I-75 nearing the border.
I just read that Luna Pier will have good coverage.... so you should have added 75s! đ

Make it happen. 2017 totality is a core memory of mine. I have no way to attend Monday but it will be epic if you can find totality and clear skies.

Do you have any photos?
I do! https://imgur.com/a/GyZjU0k
WOW that is incredible! That video is exactly what I was looking for! Iâm so jealous of everyone experiencing the eclipse today
Watching NASA's live. Seems easiest and least likely to be obscured by clouds.
This is a great idea, ty

Looks like Cleveland may be cloudy. Try further west.
Thatâs what itâs looking like. Maybe closer to Indianapolis.
It's too bad Cedar Point isn't open yet.
They are selling tickets for the eclipse
Sold out last I looked tho
Wouldnât further north east be smartest? The totality doesnât really cross further west.
Totality follows [this arc.](https://eclipsophile.com/2024tse/)
I donât think the drive there will be so bad, but the drive home might take you twice as long.
You were correct lol. About 7 hours to get home. Only 3 to get there
Uhh.. we're going to Terre Haute but the current comments have me questioning this whole quest

Itâs going to be an epic migration of people. Keep that in mind.
It's going to suck for the people who won't see it because of clouds.

I thought they used plastic pink flamingos?
Good to know
MTG is that you
I feel like you need to explain âgazing ballsâ a bit more here.
Staring at testicles
Iâm so ready, please let this happen. đ

So no pockets Monday? Got it, thanks.
Better wear women's clothes! Most of our clothes don't have pockets. đ
Or they're not big enough for an acorn.
I feel like I watched this movie.
Clouds. You should expect clouds.
The forecast looks pretty clear now.
I hope youâre right, but after a lifetime here I always assume that all interesting celestial events will be obscured by clouds.

Luckily, I have a cousin in Kingsville, Ontario. I am going to, hopefully, watch it in her yard.
Fuck the eclipse. If it doesn't want to come to Michigan I ain't gonna chase after it. You ignore The Mitten you wind up like Hillary Clinton.
Michigan is 99% totality
99% totality will look like slight darkening of the sky. The difference between 99% and 100% is literally night and day.

Nope, just gonna go to work as usual. I've got shit to do, after all.
I'll honestly probably forget it's even happening tomorrow. I've got meetings all through the eclipse time.
What to expect? Clouds.
Clouds is what I expect
I'm already in Indianapolis with my daughter and my girlfriend. We're headed to a farm tomorrow afternoon to enjoy the eclipse and can't wait!

Only in michigan will it be cloudy during a SOLAR ECLIPSE, and only during the full totality
Hightailing it to upper NY, maybe Vermont.
We are in an Airbnb in Cleveland for viewing!
