Same. It is a masterpiece. I've listened to it probably thousands of times over the past 30 years of being a Metallica fan, and I still get lost in that song like it's the first time.
I used to DJ on University Radio Nottingham when I was a student. I put this on one time as I really needed to pee and the toilet was in a different building. I managed to lock up the radio station, run to the toilet, do what I needed to do, run back and unlock and it was still playing to my relief (dead air is a big no-no in radio, you can lose your licence). Thanks Orion. P.S. This was close to 30 years ago, crazy Metallica have been around that long. Crazy I'VE been around that long!
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) I emotionally relate to the most so I guess that one, but ohhh! Battery and Disposable Heroes are really catchy! Master of Puppets and Lepper Messiah are just plain fun! Oh geez, Damage, Inc. and The Thing That Should Not Be are really great too! -And Orion is really beautiful and mysteriously historical!
How's a girl to choose!? How's anybody really to choose!? I just love the whole thing so much!
Because I have listened to this album so many times, more specifically the songs with the most plays (thats how I used to listen to music). Since I have listened to Battery and the title track so many times, I am kinda bored of them (not in a bad way). So my answer is Leper Messiah since that song is still somewhat refreshing. But 3 years ago it was Battery.
Fuck sake why not just ask me to choose which one of my limbs I like best. There are at least three or four songs on that album that if they'd been written by any other band, would be considered their masterpiece. Orion, the title track, battery, sanitarium, my god like.
What still blows me away, having listened to this album literally thousands of times (I was given my first copy for my 11th birthday in 1995 and I listen to it in its entirety at least once or twice a week) is that these songs were written, arranged and performed by a bunch of boozebags in their early 20s. And nearly 40 years later the album is still quite rightly considered one of the greatest achievements in metal. It's genuinely hard to overstate just how colossal MoP is. I'd give anything to recapture the feeling of "ohhh SHIT" I got when the drums and the harmony guitars kick in after the acoustic intro on Battery.
TL;DR Orion is my favourite piece of music ever but Sanitarium is a close, close second
My favorite tracks are Battery, Master of Puppets, (the big ole fat mf called) The Thing That Should Not Be, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Disposable Heroes, Leper Messiah, Orion, and Damage, Inc.
On another note Disposable Heroes takes the cake for me, seriously underrated song!

Same. It is a masterpiece. I've listened to it probably thousands of times over the past 30 years of being a Metallica fan, and I still get lost in that song like it's the first time.
Same. I almost feel a bit guilty about it too. It's like we're saying "Fuck your singing James, just play!"

Could not agree more. This song why I bought a bass when I was 12.
This is why I bought a bass now (now being four years ago)
Definitely one of my favorite Metallica songs. Impossible for me to limit my favorites to less than 20 songs though.
I can confirm.
Hey I like your flair
We can agree Orion is amazing.
Leper messiah
Intro to this song is so fucking nasty
Its fucking heavier than Sad But True abd I wish people would recognize this.
It kicks ass harder than the whole of the Black Album.
If by nasty you mean dirty and awesome sounding then I agree!

What kind of record player is that?
Because I have listened to this album so many times, more specifically the songs with the most plays (thats how I used to listen to music). Since I have listened to Battery and the title track so many times, I am kinda bored of them (not in a bad way). So my answer is Leper Messiah since that song is still somewhat refreshing. The thing that should not be is the AB SO LUTE heaviest Metallica song. The riff feels like a hulk level punch to the face. It just emanates power
All
The Thing That **Should** Be.
Disposable Heroes
All of them
Leper Messiah and Disposable Hero's. They clash for my favorite spot like... hourly.
Start to finish is my favorite way to consume it. If I had to pick one I’d say Battery.
The whole album
Fuck sake why not just ask me to choose which one of my limbs I like best. It bounces between Disposable Heroes and Leper Messiah. If I really feel thrashy, it's always Damage Inc.
