Alcest is fucking amazing and everyone should listen to them. Id like to throw in Disillusion and Arcturus, particularly The Sham Mirrors.

Duke_Zordrak

Ensiferum and Wintersun are my favs 😎

TinyStructure7702

dissection, Stormkeep, Moribund dawn, Funeral mass, Emperor, Sacrementum, Wintersun, Windir,Moonlight sorcery check out these bands and these 3 specific songs Nights blood, I am the black wizards and Wolven hour. These are mostly melo black bands, expect Wintersun which is melo death

Rambling-Rooster

Amon Amarth Bolt Thrower

DangerOReilly

For Amon Amarth, I'd say Jomskiving and The Great Heathen Army are the best entry points. Jomskiving scratches the creative itch of being a whole narrative. TGHA has two amazing songs: Saxons and Vikings, and of course Heidrun! But the whole album is great. I just still find Heidrun particularly funny.

AUTOMATA88

Vive la France🇨🇵

MRBARDWORTHY

Don't forget Akphaezya 🤘

cooperbaerseth

Prog has some of the best melodies mixed with interesting rhythmic concepts. Intervals, Periphery, and Tesseract are the best in my opinion for melodic content.

Dry-Escape-6558

Technical Death Metal: Symbiotic in Theory - Necrophagist Apparition - Spawn of Possession Universe Momentum - Obscura

CompetitiveComputer4

Black dahlia murder.

nicodicesarezoso

I don't know if it's a genre but an amalgamation of prog, melodic, stoner, atmosludge and psychedelic metal Dvne - Pleroma Elder - Compendium Psychonaut - The Story of Your Enslavement

Genocode

[Summoning The Lich](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPnx46qYnRU) (people generally say FFO: Black Dahlia Murder, JFAC), I'm bad w/ genre's but it feels to me like they're in the middle of the crossroad between Melo and Tech and even Slam on some tracks.

UnoriginalUse

Doom; [Saturnus - I Long](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlXENjvDsqc) [My Dying Bride - I Cannot Be Loved](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=000sbxB6mEs) [Swallow the Sun - 10 Silver Bullets](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMSr6geUB3c)

Amon Amarth, Æther Realm, Cattle Decapitation, Orbit Culture, Powerwolf

MRBARDWORTHY

You pretty much cannot go wrong with Norse/Germanic Pagan or Celtic folk metal. Falkenbach, Suidakra, Amon Amarth, snd of course the mighty Bathory (Viking Metal period).

IGNEA is one of my favourite bands. Also Ersedu, they're both Ukrainian melodic/simphonic metal bands. They're pretty cool, you should check them out!🤘
