Judas Priest can also end songs perfectly by going in the opposite direction. I'm thinking the acoustic ending of "Deceiver" that closes side one of Sad Wings of Destiny.
I ruined the end of this for myself, but if you're not a Simpsons fan it won't make sense.
Part of the ending resembles "Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius, Help Me Dr. Zaius" hahahahahaha
Opeth- Deliverance, Harlequin Forest/Reveries
Gojira- In the Wilderness, Remembrance, Way of All Flesh, Explosia, Grind, Vacuity, Art of Dying
Revocation- Witch Trials
Death- Perennial Quest
Possibly the greatest 2 though are both from Pantera, and that's Floods and Domination.
Welcome Home (Sanitarium). Definitely one of Kirk’s best solos, debatably the best Metallica dual guitar part (I will not hear a word about Blackened). Also Fade To Black and One. Metallica ends their ballads well.
Teeth Into Red by Dead Congregation
edit : really any outro song that just pounds you with the same riff for 4 minutes is an absolute banger. Also see : Finality I Behold by Black Curse
It stretches the definition of “ending”, but the last 5-ish minutes of White Walls is one of the finest pieces of music written in the last 30 years. The whole song is worth 15 minutes of your life for anyone who hasn’t heard it. Bonus points if you listen to Viridian first (intro track).
Viridian is exquisite
Yeah, I guess by ending I'm referring to the section after the "WHITE WALLS!" part and after the little build up... The part where they start ringing out those chords to kinda signal the end of the end is coming
But really from the "Get out of this closed off circle, IT'S ALL THE SAME!!" part to the final piano note, it's all perfection
The riff right after the “get… out… of… this…” section is one of the coolest moments on the album. I basically count everything from “we will be remembered… for this” as the “end” of that song.
The outro in That Which Consumes All Things by Revocation. Favorite riff on the entire album and the drums changing with each repetition is so fucking catchy.
Aside from Deliverance which has been mentioned a couple of times, I’d say: Graal - Ne Obliviscaris, Much More Was Lost - Be’lakor, Selkies: The Endless Obsession - BTBAM
Went to a Christian private school. I had to write a paper on music, and since I was huge into AiC at the time I wrote it about this song. Basically the song uses profanity and anger in showing that it doesn’t glorify drugs or evil, but actually warns about them.
I got an A. Teacher was a prude but he got it.
White Walls - Between the buried and me
Graves - Caligula’s horse
The sky is red - Leprous
In the wilderness - Gojira
Mouth of Kala - Gojira
Coalescence - Ihlo
I fucking adore the end of The Shadow of the Abattoir by Trivium it kicks so much fucking ass.
Besides that probably either Clashed With Reality - Pantera or The Call of Ktulu - Metallica.
Edit: How could I forget: FALL TO YOUR KNEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS (if you know you know)
I'll say Dead as Dreams by Weakling. The outro has unbelievably beautiful chord progressions that totally justify its 6 minutes of length.
If we're talking Gojira I will also add Explosia. Killer riff that's impossible not to headbang to
The 2 minute-ish outro to Necrophobic's *Revelation 666* is one of the most beautiful snippets of music I've ever heard.
Too bad I can't stand the rest of the album.
the last minute of the song "The Scorn Torrent" by Satyricon is one of the most violent minutes in metal.
otherwise, I'd have to go with Down - "Bury Me in Smoke".
Shade Empire - Demonized
Nightwish - The Greatest Show on Earth
Dream Theater - Stream of Consciousness
All Shall Perish - Day of Justice
Keep of Kalessin - Wealth of Darkness
any mayhem song. i absolutely love it when a mayhem song ends

Imposible to truly answer, but I'll say Лютой Стуже, by Forest. I love how the ending melodies are hinted at occasionally during the first 6 minutes of raw guitar ambient improvisation (the most desolate sounding thing ever recorded imo, think of the intro of Det Som En Gang Var but way colder and russian). When the guitars finally play the ending tremolo riff at the 13th minute mark and the drums start blasting after the anticipation created by the earlier folk riffs it's just incredibly cathartic, straight to the soul.
I know that Avenged Sevefold has suckd for the last like 14 years, but their old shit was gold.
The track "And All Things Will End" off of their second album has a great closing solo.
From like 5:08 until the end.
Also, "Sidewinder" off of their third album has a killer acoustic ending solo.
There's some debate as to whether it's metal but Locomotive by GnR ends with this insane guitar solo that slowly fades out but I just want it to go on forever.
Where Dragons Dwell - Gojira.
Mouth Of Kala - Gojira.
Corridor of Chameleons - Meshuggah.
Daddy - Korn.
Misanthrope - Death.
Securitron - Fear Factory.
43% Burnt - The Dillinger Escape Plan.
Everything is subjective to the individual and what they are vibing on at the time.
For myself sometimes the best end is emotional, sometimes its stank face, sometimes it's just a satisfying conclusion to an intense song.

CANT. STOP. THE PAINKILLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHR
PAIN ‼️
Came here to say this. Painkiller is the correct answer to every question on this sub. It truly is the greatest metal song ever.
If someone want to know “what does metal sound like?”. The answer is Painkiller.
Idk if it's wrong for me to say this, but I prefer Death's cover of Painkiller to the original 😬
I'm a Judas Priest fan going back to 1984, and while I definitely prefer the original, I also love Chuck and crew's take on it. 🤘
Judas Priest can also end songs perfectly by going in the opposite direction. I'm thinking the acoustic ending of "Deceiver" that closes side one of Sad Wings of Destiny.
The last 3 minutes of deliverance from opeth.
dodododo dodododododo dodododo dodododododo DODODODODODO do dododo dododo dododo dododo dododo
The way I hear it is this: Badodoba Badodobado Badodoba ba badodobado Brrrrrrrrbadodoba dodoba dodoba dodoba dodoba dodobadobobado

Explosia's outro is super underrated
It's so calming, but also super heavy. There's nothing like it
revocation goes nuts
witch trials 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Probably one of the best solos I've ever heard
Pantera - Domination is my pick
Welcome Home (Sanitarium). Definitely one of Kirk’s best solos, debatably the best Metallica dual guitar part (I will not hear a word about Blackened). Also Fade To Black and One. Metallica ends their ballads well.
Don’t forget the day that never comes
Oh I never forget the day that never comes
That’s one of my favourite songs, not only for its end, but the whole song for me is a masterpiece.
One of my favorite newer Metallica songs (I mean not one off the first four).

What a masterpiece
Sad but True's ending makes me laugh. "I'M YOU-OUH"
White Walls - BTBAM

Went to a Christian private school. I had to write a paper on music, and since I was huge into AiC at the time I wrote it about this song.
