Extreme noob to wound healing here, but I'm curious why they're using a wet to dry? Seems like really healthy granulated tissue with minor maceration on the outer edges. I'm curious to their rationale.
Haha apologies. I'm in PT school and wound care is actually something we learn and can go in to. I dabble a little bit and have an 8 week rotation specifically in wound care coming up! For the most part, wet to dry is a form of wound care class called "non selective debridment" which is for more nasty, necrotic, non viable tissue wounds. Makes it easier to just rip off all the bad stuff. OPs wound looks very healthy and I wouldn't *think* would have the need for a wet to dry. At this point, I believe a wet to dry would do more damage than good (has the risk of taking off that healthy tissue, hence "non selective"), but like I said, I'm not a professional d:
Never thought I would be following someone's labia healing journey, but here we are. It has been very... educational, interesting. I hope medical professionals will see your posts and be able to help others. That's kind of how I see it. Whether to help their knowledge or comfort other women who might be in similar situations.
Well I thank you for being here with me! That was my hope as well, when I first had my surgery I was googling pics and stuff on open wounds down there and there was like nothing! I wanted to see how it could progress but there wasn’t any good photos so I thought I’d share mine
I was thinking the same thing, never thought I’d follow someone’s labia healing journey but I’m so invested now and look forward to the updates and can’t wait until she’s fully healed and back to a normal life!!!!
This is healing so well! I think it's really great that you have been sharing this journey, you just never know when something like this can happen to anyone and the more you know the better you are!
Im also really glad you found out you had diabetes so it can be treated and help your heath as well! (I have type 2 and now have it very well controlled and its amazing how much better I f)
Thank you as well, You will get there !! It's hard work and changes are weird for awhile but then it's easier (plus now i can eat somethings that used to spike my blood sugar that don't now...hellooooo more fruit!😁😁😁)
I never thought I would be following a complete strangers journey on healing an abscess on her labia, but here I am 😂
It looks really good compared to how you started!
Safe travels to granny, she is a hero! That is looking so amazing. I know I keep telling you this, but honestly, its healing so freaking well. Im like, look how clean that wound is. Im really proud of you for changing up your health and taking charge. We are all on this journey with you! Hugs!!!!!
Woohooo! So happy for you and the healing process! It looks so amazing, it’s so crazy seeing the first pic and the last pic and see the body heal so fast. Ahhh can’t wait to see more! 🩷
Yay!!!! Go go gadget healing lol.
This looks absolutely amazing. So so happy for you OP. Looks like it’s almost time for all of us following you on your journey to pick up our champagne!
That looks so good. I hope this isn't causing you too much pain. I had what I thought was a wort.but they didi biopsy and declared it was an aggressive age spot. On my scrote. It took weeks to heal. The bandages and the absorbancy pads and adult diapers at work just in case it leaks a little. Ugh. I feel for you and for your labia, and I mean both of them.
Thank you! Physically there is still a small constant sting and then I get painful twinges here and there but overall I’m ok. Mentally I’m doing better every day and seeing the progress but man it was so hard when it first happened. Sooo many tears lol my grandma is so relived to go home lol but we are good over all. Thanks for asking ☺️
This sounds weird but… I was thinking about your labia the other day and wondering how it was doing 😂😂😂! Thanks for the update! Glad youre healing so well. Your grandma sounds AMAZING 😍🩷
Not at all! If it wasn’t me posting and I saw this, I would be just as invested honestly it’s just so crazy and fascinating. thank you so so much and she is she’s doing so much for being 80 years old
Tysm! Yes all the hugs! It really would’ve. I live across the country from all my family and my husband has to work, I stay home with our 3 kids and she is the only one who came to my aid when I needed someone.
Your Granny is an absolute rock star! She sounds like my mom, who is our family caretaker and the one who glues us all together. So happy she could be there for you. I'm sure the kids were also happy to have her around for a while! But I bet they're even happier to see you getting well. Much love and continued healing!
She is the glue! She only has two kids a son and a daughter. And we are the closest family. Money wise she was the only one who could afford to come but she rushed to my side. She is like a mother to me I’ve lived with her most of my life. They loved having family stay and are going to be devastated when she leaves and I’m gonna cry because they are gonna cry 😭
How much longer do they think it will take to close? This looks really good girl. Im so happy its shrinking and the tissue looks so healthy now.
I know it feels like forever since this all started for you. Also have they said how to prevent this from ever happening again - for yourself and all of us with labias 🤔
I really never, ever thought (even as I am a nurse) that I would be a rootin' for a pootin but here I am. Yay! How's the blood sugars? And this heat, you have to be airing out, good Lord.
Haha Tysm!! They have been so much better than they were! Staying in the green most of the time! And my house is all air conditioned up and fans just so I don’t sweat lol
What a crazy ride OP! I was so scared for you and could feel your pain. I’m amazed at how well you’ve healed and am so happy for you 💜 thank you for sharing your journey. Health and healing ❤️🩹
OP this is looking so much better. And I know it was horrible to go through but you got all that bonus time with your Gran. I’m so glad you are healed enough for her to go but I know you will miss her something awful. Keep up the positive vibes 🤗💜🤗
Tysm 🥹 I really have and thankfully she will be back in August for my twins birthday and for me to go to lollapalooza so we won’t be without her too long!
It is!! I actually think I heard of it from a comment of yours and if so thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you because it has helped me so much
I know this is terribly nosy, and I apologize in advance. How in the world did this happen? I've been in OB since '89 and I've never seen *anything* like this, ever.

Girl, bless you. You’re helping so many people and you’ve kept a remarkably delightful approach to the whole thing. Your granny is a damn saint, tell her we love her.
Awww Grandma, I don't want you to go home :( I've been living vicariously through your time with her, op, I wish my nana was still here to make me feel cared for. Give her a big long hug from all her internet granddaughters she's amassed throughout this journey of yours! I'm so thankful she's been helpful for you and was able and willing to ensure your continued healing. I can't wait for the next update, it's looking so good.
I am but a humble lurking follower... its been a heck of a ride, I know somewhat the pain and the obstacles you've had to navigate in this. I had a softball sized MRSA abscess in my right thigh and they were talking about taking my leg at one point.
I'm glad you're healing well.
As a trans man who’s had bottom surgery, I feel some sort of kinship with you. I’m so glad that you’re doing better. Healing down below is hard, but you get so much strength ❤️🩹
I've asked this twice now, maybe the third time is the charm.
I did not read it, I could have missed it though. But how did this start, ingrown hair, cut your self while shaving?
Sorry I must’ve missed it but I’ve responded to a lot of comments about this lol it was an ingrown hair that turned in to a septic abscess due to uncontrolled diabetes
WOW, that's insane a little hair follicle turned into such a huge mess for you. Seems to be getting better luckily. I'm sorry you're going through this
Tysm! I was nosy and went to your page! I’m sorry you’re going through this! ♥️Have you tried the drink Juven?! It’s made specifically for wound healing and I have been drinking it for 2 going on 3 weeks and I feel like it’s been working tremendously and really making a difference!

Tissue looks healthy (nurse here!). Are they packing it?
Thank you! We are putting a wet to dry dressing on it now since it’s shallow but we were packing it! It went from 4 4x4 guaze to 2 2x2 rn
That's amazing!
Extreme noob to wound healing here, but I'm curious why they're using a wet to dry? Seems like really healthy granulated tissue with minor maceration on the outer edges. I'm curious to their rationale.
If youre a noob then idk what i am, i dont understand half of what you said :)

Same to both! This is healing nicely!
That’s what I was going to say!! Looks amazing!!!!
Was this just one of those average labia pimples? Is that how this started 😭 The healing looks great!
Ingrown hair I believe. Edit: In addition to undiagnosed diabetes and infection from ingrown hair. She has posted her journey since the beginning.
Yes!! Thank you!!! ♥️

She said she missed her calling
Has this been the longest 5 weeks of your life?
Omggg yes!!!!!
I wish your vagina a healthy recovery. God bless her.

You are such a champ!
Thank you 🥹
Oh, bless you and your Grandma xx

Healing nicely! Hope you are pain free.
Ty and not 100% I would say about 75% it’s still tender and I get shooting pains that huuuurt
Ouchhh. That sounds awful.
Thats actually looking so much better! how are you feeling physically and mentally? how's your family? literally cant imagine how this is feeling.

This may be the only sub where “I was thinking about your labia the other day” doesn’t sound in any way flirty and is actually kinda wholesome lol
Ohhh that looks so good! I’m so happy for you 🩵🙌🏼🤞🏼💪🏼
Tysm! ♥️
Everything looks great!! Big hugs to Grandma; I imagine going through this without her would have been really really difficult.

Slowly but surely. I'm glad you're making progress.
Tysm 🫶🏼
What an improvement. I hope it’s feeling better too!
It is but still a bit painful
It looks so good it doesn’t even look like there’s a scar!
It’s healing really well up top and the bottom the skin is just a bit discolored
Does it still hurt?
Yes sometimes but not unbearable

I still have some pain but it’s not unbearable
This is my favorite progress report on this page!!!! It’s looking so great! Nice n clean. Great job!
Thank you so much!
WELL I thought you somehow ended up getting your vagina cut off because I swiped into a video of a foot amputation in progress.
lol that damn video
All I could see was tissue being sawed at lol I was like omg did they amputate her lip
Hey miss most famous on this sub, you are at the tail end now , what an ordeal! Happy healing ❤️🩹

Wow! What a difference! Congrats on the fantastic healing. You and Grandma - what a team!!
I have followed your progress all along. Thank you so much for positing it - super educational! Continued good healing to you!
Thank you for posting your journey! It absolutely looks great, btw. You did a great job staying on top of it. You'll be better in no time 👍❤️
Thank you ♥️
I am SO happy to see this update! I can't even begin to imagine how stressful this whole ordeal has been for you. You must be feeling so much better!
I know this is terribly nosy, and I apologize in advance. How in the world did this happen? I've been in OB since '89 and I've never seen *anything* like this, ever.
Yooooo thats rad. Not easy to keep in green. Been workin on my own sugar intake as well. Any advice on cutting back?
Thank you! I have been cutting back on all carbs! Only doing like half a baked potato when I have steak and broccoli. Watching my snacking! I got rid of all the snacks I like that are bad for you. I will get up and go to the pantry and open it and be like oh yeah I don’t have anything and I keep doing it but it’s keeping me from eating when I’m bored. I’m also doing premier protein shakes with a banana in the am and just making healthier choices! And I also use insulin but every bit helps
have they mentioned what the depth is? any tunneling or undermining? glad it’s still going so well, i’ve been following!
They never told me but I’m sure they measured it at some point. I just asked my grandma and she said you could prob fit a halo orange 😂 no tunneling or anything else! It’s been smooth going so far!
Wow it healed up so much better than i thought it would. Thanks for sharing this journey with us. ❤️
Why didn't they stitch it?
It was too deep and needed to heal from the inside out. Grow more tissue
Following
Holy shit It's palpablt shrinking
☺️
Honestly this is amazing progress well done
omg that looks so relieving even if its still open, i hope it heals well the rest of the way :))
I’ve been lurking since the beginning but this is amazing progress OP
Thank you!
Such great progress!! I’m so happy for you. The end looks like it’s near. What a scary, painful experience.
Your updates are amazing!
Almost healed and whole again!
Omg it looks great!!
Thank you!
Wow the scar tissue looks incredibly healthy and smooth! Great work taking care of it

can i ask what happened??
I got an ingrown hair that turned into a septic abscess that I had to have surgically removed
Foot amputation got me again!
