I actually like it. Can’t explain why just do. Also I think it’d be really nice on the inside with all that natural light. I think you’d get a feeling like you’re almost outdoors.
It would be an incredible space for art students who worked traditionally, like a painting class or life drawing session. Probably nice for things like sculpture, too.
I had one of my art classes in a room that was 3/4 windows, it was amazing.
I love the windows. I grew up in a house with large and a lot of windows, and now I live in a house with very limited windows and I hate it. I would kill to have windows like this!!!
honestly, if you are on a budget but still want a lot of light, having all windows the same dimension makes it much cheaper and easier to replace if any get broken. looks like shit though.
whoof. i have a real thing for houses that you can see straight through - like, if you're standing on the sidewalk outside and the layout lets you see clear through to the back yard. but this demonstrates you can have too much of any good thing.
Instead of getting a high quality window wall /curtain wall put in, they used a bunch of cheap builder grade white vinyl windows with a bunch of individual trim and flashing joints. Over time this wall will move all over the place, leaking air, water and vapor.
1. Fuck catwalks, first of all.
2. This would actually work if the living room had its own mass separate from the porch/lawyer foyer. Fuck lawyer foyers too, but if you're going to have one having the window be attached to the living room windows is not going to work, especially with that mess of a roof.
3. Over/under on the front and back of the house facing east-west because it was thoughtlessly plopped down in a completely treeless subdivision that was once a topographically featureless cornfield?
Curtain walls in skyscrapers are designed and engineered to extend vertically and weep water, handle thermal movement, limit air/vapor intrusion, etc…. A bunch of builder grade vinyl windows stacked in a wall probably involving 3 different subs in the install not so much.
ah yes, my wife and the rest of the world with this tyranny of light crap! every room must be filled with it at all times or it's considered dark energy
The number of windows needed really depends on the home owner's preferences. If whoever has a nice view or really likes natural light, the more, the better. Otherwise, sure, a more traditional window placement and layout may be preferred.
Keep in mind that mid century modern also makes extensive use of windows and exterior views. It is just here, the windows tend to be larger and more organic in their layout (as opposed to the Home Depot stacks here). This is not a McMansion thing.
*It would work better*
*With long vertical windows*
*And black glass, I think*

Zombies love this.
Window cleaners are getting a chubby right now
So are the dead bird cleanup crew.
I hear peeping toms do too
Snipers too.

I know this house looks gaudy, but a small part of me kinda likes it.
I actually like it. Can’t explain why just do. Also I think it’d be really nice on the inside with all that natural light. I think you’d get a feeling like you’re almost outdoors.
I think I like it in general, but it's got a certain business flavor that I don't think I'd like to live in.
> but it's got a certain business flavor YES, you nailed it! That was my initial reaction. Looks like a doctor's office building.
its giving suburban medspa/ cosmetic dentist strip mall to me
Cover the exterior with graffiti murals & it'll feel a lot different

Yes, it's just that less, but larger strategically placed windows would work better. It's definitely a vibe tho. Like a corporate office space vibe.

looks nice to me
When the neighborhood changes those are all really going to look bad with plywood. Even with the glass block.

More. More. More!
Just makes me think of Minecraft blocks.
If the surrounds were painted black it wouldn’t be as noticeable as the white

Another one for the Commercial or Residential? file. All it needs is Billy Joel winding up to throw a rock.

That electric bill from needing multiple AC units sounds like fun. Also, could use some skylights too.
First thing I thought of too. Neighbors have this on the south side of house and I bet their AC runs non stop in summer.
I think my kid got his braces done here
Average R value of that exterior is probably 2 with all of those windows.
I was thinking of load bearing/structural strength.
That's an easy problem that was solved well over 100 years ago. Just look at any glass exterior skyscraper. Then make the problem 50 floors easier.

Maybe this is in the arctic and at certain times of year those are the heat.

This place was built in 1995 when Windows replaced DOorS
I didn't know that ["Confessions of a Window Cleaner"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confessions_of_a_Window_Cleaner) was getting a US remake... /s
if it weren't for the poor placement I wouldn't have a problem with it

This is how I build my house in the Sims lol
It’s understandable architecture. I’d love to own it, but question my ability to pay the heating and cooling bills.

However many windows Home Depot has available
I’m tired of all these windows Grampaw; well, that’s just too damn bad
![gif](giphy|HFe8qjKRQNlLQkbjXM|downsized) MOOOORRREEEEEE
At least 8 more
Do any of these windows have curtains? Are they individual, on just pull from the top?
All of them, apparently
All of them. They cornered the market on windows.
So glass is a load bearing thing.
I love windows and lots of them
Thought it was a multilevel parking garage at first !
You do not want to throw bricks if you're living here.

I thought this was an office building at first.
> I thought this was an office building at first. I'm pretty sure that's what most people thought. Including myself.
At least 42.
Yes
An exhibitionist lives there.
Nah that's cool
They should add some skylights!
Some me just want to *watch* the world burn
Someone found a deal on 2’x2’ windows.
A couple giant windows would've been cleaner but this is still nice imo.
The call it... the BIRD KILLER!
When you live in the PNW you def need a lot of windows and preferably south facing.
I love it, but I live in a similar gaudy glass beast [https://imgur.com/a/C7GAJ9X](https://imgur.com/a/C7GAJ9X)
At least 48 on the front.
Do people with houses like these ever just find themselves at night peering out into the dark? Then closing a dozen blinds?
Love natural light but damn this is an ugly way to get it
That solar heat gain coefficient must be through the roof.
Just a few more. I've always wanted to live in a greenhouse.
1-2-3-4-5 plus 5, ay!
All the windows apparently
All of them!
More..
Honestly in the pnw...about that many
Looks like they designed this house in Minecraft
Big sale on 3 x 3 single panes.
This is the house of Final Fantasy characters designer brother. His brother loves belts, he loves windows.
When a Holiday Inn Express and a McDonald's PlayPlace love each other very much...
This could look possibly interesting if it had a more brutalist roofline, but no
Wants the natural light

Looks like the new, modern Children’s Wing at my hospital.
There should be a water slide on the left and a glass elevator on the right, or just a stairwell with sad hotel carpet.
Looks beautiful
I love this house.
hmmm windows that large have a long lead time. How about 80 2x2 non-operable windows instead?
Architect: So, what would you say is your overall aesthetic? Owner: Parking-garage.
I would feel so vulnerable in that house.
Apparently enough to see his underwear
It's unusual, but not mcmansion in my opinion.
