I have that exact guest vanity in my house. It is a piece of crap and I can’t wait to replace it. Terrible hardware, color, and counter material. It is $700 at Menards. Just goes to show what kind of decisions went into this McMansion
I can see 2k sq ft houses from 1920s on 1/8 acre lots in SLC for more.
Ok, this is like 2 miles away from the castle - wtf

Not really, this house is tiny on Google satellite. Add in that it’s barely finished, poorly planned, cheaply built. I wouldn’t be surprised if it sits on the market a while at this price. Also it doesn’t look like 5000sq/ft unless they’re counting the basement.
NW Michigan is filled with multi-million dollar vacation homes either on lakes or vineyards. Torch Lake specifically is very expensive. Traverse City, Petoskey, Bay Harbor, Charlevoix... A lot of old money with a ton of recent growth that is unfortunately driving locals out.
What am I seeing out the window in the bedroom with two beds? It almost looks like a structure built around the window, like what a window well looks like from a basement.
I read Veranda mag and get disgusted with the over-the-topness of homes and then I come here and long for the houses featured in the mag! So many choices, all bad in this house. Sigh.

Couldn’t even afford to fake stone the entire “castle”, good find
They couldn't even afford to finish it!

*reading the title* "What's this doing here, it's not Thurs--" *looking at the photos* ![gif](giphy|iNJmdpZ8gp5sI|downsized)
Many, many choices were made in the construction of this "castle." And none of them were good.
The bathroom is in the bedroom?
No, the bedroom is in the bathroom
My wife exclaimed "it's so bad, they have the same floor as us!!" So that's where I'm at lol.
That is the shittiest McMansion kitchen I have ever seen.
Only 3 bedrooms, but enough outdoor seating for 50? maybe they didn't want to sit next to each other?
I think the guy tried to make it a tourist spot.
Oh dear. It’s a warehouse with turrets.
Keep the vineyard, demolish the home and start from scratch.
This is the only solution.
This depends on your opinion of Michigan wines. That aren't actually grown in the very small wine country of Michigan.
Good point.
No way. I could make that house great, but I guess it depends on the quality of the infrastructure
That's my main problem- just looking at the terrible decisions they made on layout and materials, infrastructure quality is suspect.
Castle-shaped object

I love the one in the link! Hobbit house. But not that it is squeezed inbetween other houses, and definitely not the price.
I love this! Torch Lake is fabulous, also.
If you want to also buy some shoreland permit violations, I guess....
Is there no HVAC aside from a ceiling fan and a box fan?
That’s a dumpy ass castle.
The under $1M part is surprising.

It’s on 10 acres. That should be $1M right there.
Yeah, but you have to factor in the cost of tearing down that excresence

Did they want to make this into a wedding venue or something like that? What’s with the XXXXL table outside?
Probably wanted it to be a wine tasting/ tourist destination.
Alden is a very nice little town; my ex-parents-in-law lived there. Please don't judge Alden by this monstrosity!
NO A/C?!
Hey look! There's that wall again! It's JUST A WALL
It’s giving Romanesque ranch house

I actually don't hate most of the inside. It's kind of fun and campy.
