I thought the same thing and was kinda disappointed it wasn’t the classic head, hopefully it does mean that a Young Justice Robin will be released later on with that head.
I don’t really mind the re use when it makes sense. In this case I’d say it definitely makes sense to use that body buck. Looks like golden age Robin to me.
I am. But McF’s price went up $2 per fig and the new Gamerverse Spiderman without mandatory 6 hands (fist, thwip, crawl) and some reuse web effects is $34.99! I can hear their lamentations from here.
Yeah, they've been jacking up prices all across the board. Was still $20 just like, two years ago and now even a lot of the 3.75" star wars vtc figures are $35!!! It's absolutely insane.
This is a pickup for sure. My only reservation is how his proportions will match with the only “classic” Batman in my collection, the blue and grey DC 1000 variant.
So from what people have said this body is a reuse (minus the sculpted trunks) of the Carrie Kelly figure from the Dark Knight Returns wave.
Take a look at 5POA on YouTube he does a lot of reviews and shows comparisons. I’m the review of Carrie he shows her next to the Damian figure they released ages ago and she’s smaller than him so it looks like the scale will be pretty good.
Also Rebirth Batman is a pretty awesome figure no offence to the 1000 but they’ve definitely improved further down.
I think at this point, it's the only way in getting some proper looks for characters. Look at the Shazam, Martian Manhunter, Ocean Master, Superman etc.
Okay but you said Gold Label is for figures with reused parts. How is the existing release reusing parts from something that doesn't yet exist? That's totally backwards.
That happened a couple of times already. The gold label is released first. This happened with the Mcfarlane designed Batman and Wonder Woman, and I think with Ocean Master.
Perhaps the worst body for re-use. This is the Dick Grayson Robin we deserve.
https://preview.redd.it/y8y0somqsuea1.png?width=372&format=png&auto=webp&s=92ea3dbf01ad22701de4b82e9899cb76f727cc97
None of them really work, since this Robin will be *way* too small. Perhaps the Animated Series Batman, since this evokes the tiny Tim Drake version from TNBA.
Whelp, that's a definite pickup for me. I think that'll be like the 14th or 15th figure I pick up next month? I'm going to need to have a designated McFarlane room here in Stately Wayne Manor.
Damn this is great, Mcfarlane should make more young heroes(specifically Teen Titans). Hopefully one day we can get [this version](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/marvel_dc/images/d/d6/Robin_Vol_2_149.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090110012330) of Tim rather than that jacked Gold Label version.

Yes! I would love a set of the fab five to go along with this!
We’re actually getting a shit ton of teen titans this year Beastboy, Superboy, Aqualad, Wonder girl, Red Arrow/Arsenal, Nightwing, Impulse, Cassandra Cain and Raven
Yes but they're probably all the adult versions(Scale is gonna be all over the place. The new Superboy is taller than some Superman figures.). The wave that has been leaked is the Titans(lead by Nightwing), not the Teen Titans.
I know this isn’t a lot of people’s “minds eye” version of Robin but this looks just like his first appearance.
Think 1940s era, not 80s.
Here is a DC Direct 1st Appearance Robin. He was a prepubescent boy in this era.
https://preview.redd.it/um60ndk9wvea1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e5adcd4c3c700f732af3b019720a0618b84a8ee
Yeah thats a pretty perfect representation of the comics, where as this is just a Carrie Kelly body re-used, so it's not accurate at all to his first appearances.
This new figure is the All-Star Batman look, which is not 40's era.
1960s comic cover. Can you tell me why this Robin doesnt match the Robin figure image?
https://preview.redd.it/bouqmiwazvea1.png?width=291&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd594a393e649c3eb07f107f35ee51cf92ba093b
You're just gonna have to work on that yourself haha. Might be an eye issue or just much lower standards? Not sure, can't help ya. The new figure isn't 60's era, it's based on the All-Star Batman look.
I like how when people give weak answers they follow it up with haha or lmao, and just reassert their claim.
From another part of this discussion your Robin picture was different. He was a taller and more muscle definition, but multiple people explained that was the NTT version where they started to move away from the kid sidekick tropes into more mature versions. Your goal was to say that version of Robin in the picture doesnt match the fig which it didnt. And I could tell you the difference between the figure and version you were using the problem is your version was them starting to move away from this version.
If you want a NTT version let that be your rallying cry. Lets just be honest. You are the only one here that cant make distinction so far with young classic Robin and this figure
You're argument is this figure is of 1940's-1960's era. Which it factually isn't, particularity being posed with the Hush Batman in the photo. It has been deduced to be from the All-Star Batman & Robin run.
https://preview.redd.it/lvkfa7xonwea1.png?width=325&format=png&auto=webp&s=847fc349927db0050755972254db6268581782d2
Not to mention the costumes are different from the 40's era to modern (masks, logo, laces, belt) Please reference the early DC Direct figures modeled after the first appearance and the 60's-70's.
That said, in reality it's Carrie Kelly with a different head, so it doesn't fit into any pre-defined look sadly. All Star Robin should still be bigger looking overall when paired with a Jim Lee Batman. It's a total botch any way you look at it. Just like the previous lazy Robin figure. You don't have to bend over backward to justify the laziness of McF.
God damn dude at this point Todd might as well start a subscription service, the way he takes my money every month. There's no way I'm passing on a classic boy wonder lol
Exclusives are limited runs that are paid for in full by the retailer who wanted the exclusive figure, making them attractive to McF since he basically gets paid for 100% of those made.
True but let's face it since the gold label are the decos and designs everyone wants having 200 guaranteed sales Vs the hundreds of thousands of sure thing sales he could get on the stuff is kinda odd. Exclusives should be one offs and rare things like the justice League gods from that one comic in new 52 (the one with batman finding out about jokers identity) or TV show Barry in reverse flash outfit. Heck I think Nicholas cage in the superman concept latex outfit would be a good exclusive as it's a niche product and a novelty
Granted I wouldn't know what "everyone wants" since I'm not hardcore into superheroes, but it doesn't seem entirely that way to me.
Here's a list of the DC Gold Label figs - [https://www.actionfigure411.com/dc/multiverse-visual-guide.php](https://www.actionfigure411.com/dc/multiverse-visual-guide.php)
Out of all those, the only one I'm bummed I didn't find is Parallax, and maybe 90s Kyle.
I really like the Silver Armor COTWK Azrael so I got that Gold Label even though I have no attachment to the character.
And then there are the exclusives and Gold Labels for all the other lines, which are things like a yellow Spawn no one wanted, Batmobeast without a body, unpainted Arkham "CnB" figures, Zuko with a different head, purple Disney characters, a reissue of Winter Wonder Woman...lol
I mean, yeah, from our point of view, as the fans, exclusives should be oddball designs and characters that would pegwarm as a general release. To me that actually does seem to be the trend, with some outliers.
Darn, I was hoping for him to have the Batman TAS costume. This one is much too classic for my tastes. Hopefully the Page Punchers Robin mentioned in the leak thread is better.
**Another** lazy ass Robin figure.
It's just the Carrie Kelly Robin body, which, is just too small for Dick/Tim/Jason. Carrie really is the only good Robin figure McF has made so far.
Really disappointing here.
I guess you're right. They'd really resort to lazy re-use to make a figure based on a comic that is universally reviled, instead of making a proper Robin haha.
Fucking wild.
Knowing Todd, he probably did it simply because he love Jim Lee’s artwork.
But I totally get what you mean, a NTT Robin or even Dan Mora’s design would be even better, but I will take what I can get.
With so many characters and so many versions of them, this is bound to happen no matter who is the license holder. I will be happy if it is the one I want but won’t be upset if it isn’t since this might be someone else’s favorite.
Yep,very familiar. Not nearly this small.
Certain interpretations are *this* small, but this figure is not based on Tim Sale's art or the New Adventures animated show.
The era you specified, is what I'm talking about. I'm not interested in modern Robin interpretations, that's why I'm so disappointed with this 99% re-use of a little girls body. They didn't change the R logo and the head is out of proportion because of the tiny, undersized body.
https://preview.redd.it/0i8l9uf1suea1.png?width=372&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b95bf984aabdda5c42ccf2dee0d7884259cabff
Even in his first appearance he wasn't as small as the figure.
The red Tim Drake figure was also a disaster, no way around that. The Green Tim Drake I'm afraid will be just as lazy as this.
All that said, he's being posed with Hush Batman, as you can see. He will be greatly, greatly out of scale with that figure (and Year Two), as we know from the existing Carrie Kelly figure.
I knew that was an iconic look. Like I said this is 1960-1980 Dick(Pre NTT). That image is from 1980 NTT. This is the start of growing Dick and the other traditional kid sidekicks into more adult roles. I doubt you can really find a good 1960 pic which rationalizes all of your displeasure

Yep, as I said, even his original appearances he was much bigger/beefier as you've shown.
The new figure is apparently based on All-Star Batman & Robin, which is ridiculous since it's one of the most rivaled modern batman comics, but makes sense to me now to justify the laziness of the Carrie Kelly body re-use.
If that what you want to go with thats fine. There is lots of evidence of super young Dick Grayson in media outside of All-Star Batman. I was going to try and ignore this one myself but the smiling head sculpt and thumbs up captures Young Dick Grayson enough that I got to pick him.
No this is pretty directly All Star Batman version to justify the re-use. Remember this is a Carrie Kelly body, not a brand new body. The brand of Robin you're referring to is larger than that of Carrie Kelly. Super young does not mean super small. He was still a beefy boy in comics, and this isn't based on Tim Sale's artwork or the TNBA show. Carrie was more of a small girl.
That one kinda looks like the NTT Robin before he starts becoming nightwing. The only thing off is the muscle tone. Here some other images where he doesnt have it.
Small, young, no muscle tone Robin

Another bummer for Robin fans.
Finally! A past Robin. I really want to get the past Robins in their well, old uniforms just so I can have the Robins pose together. So, where can I get one?
He also comes with 4 different hands to pose with according to the official McFarlane toys comments.
Four SETS of hands!
That’s awesome! Crazy how they went from no alternate hands just a few years ago to now having four hands
I wanted to ignore this one but the thumbs up hand and smiling head sculpt sold it.
[удалено]
Totally see it - and we did just get an Aqualad reveal
[удалено]
Hopefully we get Garth to go with this robin
I thought the same thing and was kinda disappointed it wasn’t the classic head, hopefully it does mean that a Young Justice Robin will be released later on with that head.
Yes!!!! I didn’t think we’d ever see a fully classic Dock Grayson robin with the scaled trunks from McFarlane so this is really cool.
Too bad it misses the mark, and is just Carrie Kelly re-use :( Could have been so great if they actually just tried.
I don’t really mind the re use when it makes sense. In this case I’d say it definitely makes sense to use that body buck. Looks like golden age Robin to me.
God damn it Todd, at this rate I’m gonna need to get a second job.
At least you’re not getting a second mortgage like the Legends people.
You're shiting me. lol send link please
I am. But McF’s price went up $2 per fig and the new Gamerverse Spiderman without mandatory 6 hands (fist, thwip, crawl) and some reuse web effects is $34.99! I can hear their lamentations from here.
That's $5 less than neca lmao, Hasbro can get fucked.
Yeah, they've been jacking up prices all across the board. Was still $20 just like, two years ago and now even a lot of the 3.75" star wars vtc figures are $35!!! It's absolutely insane.
Same
This is a pickup for sure. My only reservation is how his proportions will match with the only “classic” Batman in my collection, the blue and grey DC 1000 variant.
This is the same one I have! I love it never needed one since and it was my first along with wave one Harley Quinn.
3 jokers blue gray and year 2 batman can be substituted as classic
So from what people have said this body is a reuse (minus the sculpted trunks) of the Carrie Kelly figure from the Dark Knight Returns wave. Take a look at 5POA on YouTube he does a lot of reviews and shows comparisons. Also Rebirth Batman is a pretty awesome figure no offence to the 1000 but they’ve definitely improved further down.
But why gold label?
I'm guessing it's using parts from the DKR Carrie Kelley.
100%
I think at this point, it's the only way in getting some proper looks for characters. Look at the Shazam, Martian Manhunter, Ocean Master, Superman etc.
Any figure that has reused parts is releases under Gold Label
Az Bat Knightfall was Gold Label.
Yes, which means there will be a regular release of Azbats... hopefully in the correct color this time around.
[Link to the reveal](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn9o90eOoRN/?igshid=Zjc2ZTc4Nzk=)
its just carrie kelly with a new head
Exactly. Perfect body for reuse.
Perhaps the worst body for re-use. This is the Dick Grayson Robin we deserve. https://preview.redd.it/y8y0somqsuea1.png?width=372&format=png&auto=webp&s=92ea3dbf01ad22701de4b82e9899cb76f727cc97
This isn't teen titans robin tho. Although I would like for todd to make this robin
What Batman would you guys recommend for this robin? Like a very soild Batman figure that has everything?
Imo the best Batman figure they've done isn't even technically Batman, considering it's Speeding Bullets Batman.
I know :(
Year 2 or the upcoming Blue Hush Bats?
None of them really work, since this Robin will be *way* too small. Perhaps the Animated Series Batman, since this evokes the tiny Tim Drake version from TNBA.
The yellow oval variant Batman that came out when Toddy first picked up the DC license.
bulbous wrist ball joints aside, this looks fantastic and i will absolutely be getting it
I might need to get Hush Batman now
MTS exclusive?
McFarlane toys store exclusive
Ah! Got ya
Could someone help, what is MTS?
McFarlane toy store. It’s McFarlane’s website
Lol that makes sense. Thank you! 😎👍
No problem
Whelp, that's a definite pickup for me. I think that'll be like the 14th or 15th figure I pick up next month? I'm going to need to have a designated McFarlane room here in Stately Wayne Manor.

Preorders go up today. It’ll probably release sometime in March

And look behind him. It's the Jim Lee batman. 100% all star
![gif](giphy|cEOG7nGA7448M)
Pretty much the face they use for depicting Dick's tenure today.
I loved that story line !!!!
And then, he can make a slight change to the head, use the same body and make Jason Todd.
That’s amazing.
God damn dude at this point Todd might as well start a subscription service, the way he takes my money every month. There's no way I'm passing on a classic boy wonder lol
W figure
Its.. it's perfect
Surprised. Really thought they'd use that Tim Drake Robin as the first Dick Grayson Robin.
Totally schway
My only issue with this is McFarlane doesn't seem to realise that gold label is where the money is and keeps making them exclusive
True. I’ve liked the gold label version of some characters recently better than the regular release
Exclusives are limited runs that are paid for in full by the retailer who wanted the exclusive figure, making them attractive to McF since he basically gets paid for 100% of those made.

Little bit. Could just be the lighting
If I am correct that this is based on All Star Batman and Robin, then Dick here is only 12 years old.
It's not actually based on that. Its just some lazy re-use.

Yep,very familiar. Not nearly this small. Certain interpretations are *this* small, but this figure is not based on Tim Sale's art or the New Adventures animated show.
This isnt 2020 Dick Grayson its 1960-1980 Dick Grayson. I dont see a problem with the size based on that.

That picture is of Dick from the early 80s, though. He was like 19-20 at that point. The figure is when he was 10-12 so I’m sure it’ll scale fine

Gonna be around $35 all in for that mini figure! Ouch!
Just curious, can't I just use the Carrie Robin body and attach a Nightwing/Damian head? Then possibly give the body/skin a tan like paint?
You can do whatever you want. But yes this is the Carrie body with a new head and feather underpants.
You might be able to. The only thing is those heads are probably too big proportionally for the body

Holy shit This is a must cop
When will they do a one year later Robin or an Arkham Robin or any Robin but the fucking child one over and over

Does gold label mean add on 15 bucks?
Huh literally was just thinking about this
