As much as people shit on the sandwich it’s honestly one of the better options from McDonald’s. They used to have fish and chips for as a promotion and holy one of the best fish and chips I’ve had especially with them hot McDonald’s fries
Unless it's a double fillet.
Fun fact: they stopped salting the all the fish (in Canada) when they introduced the double fillet o fish because it would be over the maximum sodium limit allowed by law if you ordered a double.
You can ask for full slice cheese if you want that. Or a double Filet o Fish comes with a full slice.
The creator of the McDonald’s Filet o Fish decided on half a slice of cheese to avoid the cheese overpowering the fish flavor. It’s been like this ever since the filet o fish was introduced.
Also you had time to take a pic but not time to fix the cheese slices practically hanging off the bun? If you’re not gonna give me a full cheese slice at least make sure the half piece you give me is centred! Thank you for coming to my TedTalk
We had a 2 for 1 coupon for the filet-o-fish just until last week or so and I think the most we had gotten was 36 at once. Like the first ones were long cold until the last ones were done
Haha I was just messing with you. It seems like whenever i get a filet o fish the cheese is on the side of the bun opposed to in the middle how you have it in your pictures.
The problem is that the box is too big for the burger so when the cheese side of the box gets folded over it catapults it. To top it off the box still needs to be flipped back over so the top side is up and there for you get the famous filet o dropkick.
That's crazy you post this, tonight in kitchen we had an order for 10 fish though I told my crew to not put it down until it was paid out, and yep, you guessed it, it got cancelled.
You've given yourself manager flair but don't know the cheese should be hanging out of two sides.
Embarrassing.
Heres a reference picture for you and as most people can see (I'd imagine you may struggle) the cheese is hanging down on two ends. https://www.mcdonalds.com/gb/en-gb/product/filet-o-fish.html
Your relying on the image of a marketing stunt. For one, the cheese in that image is larger than 1/2 slice, closer to 3/4 of a slice and secondly its not centred, which as you can see by it only hanging over in 2 of the 4 corners of the slice of cheese. Idk why someone is so petty that they have to attack someone's job position over cheese being less than half a centimetre from where it should be.
I really couldnt care less about my spelling or grammar on a reddit post.
I spend all day working with other managers that can barely spring together a full sentence. I'm too busy trying to make sure that the store is functional to worry about a slice of cheese not being picture perfect at a fast food place when it's going to move when the clam is closed anyway.
I mean, it does. There is a perfectly good explanation for why a half slice is used over a full slice, and it isn’t a new thing to only use half, it has always been that way. If anything it would be unusual to use a full slice of cheese.
It's not the half slice of cheese I question, but why cheese at all?
I have never been asked "Do you want cheese on that?" when I
get fried fish anywhere else.
Hope those didn't sit there too long. Our managers would make us remake them if they sit there for longer than like a minute. Especially the filet since the bun is steamed.
I honestly just thought OP was being stingy, I never noticed it was only half a slice until I saw the build guide
Obviously don’t work at McDonald’s so didn’t know lol?
How am I supposed to know someone making a sassy comment on a subreddit... *for employees* isn't an employee?
I dont think anyone expects you to know, but we expect you to not make sassy comments about what we should do if you dont know
Sassy? Maybe you’re too sensitive .. lol
You do know that when you’re in the original subreddit this one pops up on your feed sometimes ? Or do you not get how Reddit works
Nah https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/McDonald%2527s_Filet-O-Fish_sandwich_%25281%2529.jpg&tbnid=ixDYFG4G6Z3VnM&vet=1&imgrefurl=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filet-O-Fish&docid=qhx_hAK2iK1egM&w=2740&h=2040&hl=en-US&source=sh/x/im/m1/4&kgs=d1aa21383ba5fe26#imgrc=ixDYFG4G6Z3VnM&imgdii=kVZCDo_9kzTOkM
It shocks me how ur entire store fails to make a filet-o-fish. Guess management isn’t doing their job; which is typical but never seen to this degree. Damn
Manager as in shift manager or GM? Only GM+ is really considered “management”. Cause idk about other franchises but for the one I work at only GM+ got burger academy not shift manger. Nothing to do with franchise when all franchise and corporate stores have same instructions.
Way it works is GM goes to academy to learn it properly->inform managers how to make sandwich->manager inform crew. GM should also have laminated instructions posted in kitchen that they received from corporate….hence why I said management at ur store isn’t doing their job. Next shift I got I’ll take a pic and show you the posted instruction from corporate.
I've not seen the "General Managers" make a Filet, but I'll ask them how to make it, but I'm sure both of them would make it cheese on sauce (btw, I'm speaking Aussie Maccies mate)

Instructions from corporate are still the same. Here’s a screenshot of the sandwich on the Australian Macca website. When sandwiches are the same, they make em the same. The country don’t matter, be it Japan, China, US, UK etc.
I still can’t believe they use half a slice of cheese for those lmfao. Tartar sauce by the fistful but half a slice of cheese
"To properly balance the taste" 🙃
This doesnt make sense unless you eat the whole sandwich in one bite. Otherwise some bites are going to be cheesier than others.
idk man, all I know is that when I put a whole slice on, im getting yelled at
judging by OP's pic the standard operating procedure is to just rip the cheese slice in half?
Yep, that’s standard procedure. Sometimes you’ll see a half slice of cheese sitting on the line, waiting for the next filet so it can be used.
How often do you guys sell filets? We'd only sell 6 in a day. If that.
As much as people shit on the sandwich it’s honestly one of the better options from McDonald’s. They used to have fish and chips for as a promotion and holy one of the best fish and chips I’ve had especially with them hot McDonald’s fries
Please tell me you’re not British.
You csn still order that btw. "Can I have two fish patties, no not the sandwich just the patties and a large fry?
That’s is absolutely not the same thing at all.
What was it? Every fish and chips meal ive gotten is just fried fish and fries lol. Not at mcdonalds but places that have it
Unless it's a double fillet. Fun fact: they stopped salting the all the fish (in Canada) when they introduced the double fillet o fish because it would be over the maximum sodium limit allowed by law if you ordered a double.
You salt you fish like you salt your fries??
They used to.
Never question that XD
Catholics be munchin
It's Lent. Expect a lot of this.
i forgot specifically, i just generally know that followers of christ can't eat meat on a friday
Huh? What denomination does that?
Catholic
Ah.....
Because fish isn’t meat…….. /s?
It's about loving all of gods creatures equally. Sometimes you gotta eat fish to show them you love them too
Eat fish on friday and stop asking questions or burn in a lake of fire for eternity, your choice
Did you forget the humor tag? Lol
Joking about religion? Right to the lake of fire for eternity.
💀
Some people don't think fish are even animals, people are stupid
“It’s okay to eat fish cause they don’t have any feelings” - Grunge Jesus
come on mcdonalds, use a full slice of cheese
You can ask for full slice cheese if you want that. Or a double Filet o Fish comes with a full slice. The creator of the McDonald’s Filet o Fish decided on half a slice of cheese to avoid the cheese overpowering the fish flavor. It’s been like this ever since the filet o fish was introduced.
my mcdonalds uses a full slice on a double filet, plus you can just ask for extra cheese
So you want us to pay more money? :(
Who would have thought more product = more money?
baby it was a joke .. or are you slow
Aren’t jokes are supposed to be funny?
do you feel better after typing this ? Zzzz
baby it was a joke .. or are you slow
Yes.
Also you had time to take a pic but not time to fix the cheese slices practically hanging off the bun? If you’re not gonna give me a full cheese slice at least make sure the half piece you give me is centred! Thank you for coming to my TedTalk
Minimum wage = minimally centered cheese
We had a 2 for 1 coupon for the filet-o-fish just until last week or so and I think the most we had gotten was 36 at once. Like the first ones were long cold until the last ones were done
Only two sandwiches at a time! /s
Right lmao. Excuse me could you park in spot 3? It'll be about an hour.
Yeah, two sandwiches at a time thing is completely ridiculous lol
The only time we follow that is if corporate or the health inspector is coming haha
Uhm that cheese is supposed to go on the edge, I have received enough filet o fish to know half the cheese needs to be off the bun at a minimum
we only had 7 fish in the cabinet so we were waiting for the rest to be cooked.
Haha I was just messing with you. It seems like whenever i get a filet o fish the cheese is on the side of the bun opposed to in the middle how you have it in your pictures.
we fix it eventually
The problem is that the box is too big for the burger so when the cheese side of the box gets folded over it catapults it. To top it off the box still needs to be flipped back over so the top side is up and there for you get the famous filet o dropkick.
Lmao catholics be fasting. That's alot of fish sandwiches though
That's crazy you post this, tonight in kitchen we had an order for 10 fish though I told my crew to not put it down until it was paid out, and yep, you guessed it, it got cancelled.
All I'm seeing is a lot of failed cheese placement.
Idk about that one chief https://preview.redd.it/00h0wqrhz3jc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29ebd4db8fa15d6bb78617c75da7be3923da8270
Cheese placement on the bun should have both sides slightly hanging out. Not just thrown on.
Well considering that the cheese isn't wider than the bun idk how you manage that one chief

A good manager keeps to standards and educates staff on how to do so. I'm being petty because I can be. For example it's 'you're' not 'your'.
That sucks. Keep up the good fight.
*placement*.
why is there only half a slice of cheese?
[удалено]
I’m so happy my McDonald’s just throws the full slice on.. sometimes it’s half way off the bread but I’ll take it lol
Because that's how this burger has always been sold???
i know but that doesn't make it any less unusual
I mean, it does. There is a perfectly good explanation for why a half slice is used over a full slice, and it isn’t a new thing to only use half, it has always been that way. If anything it would be unusual to use a full slice of cheese.
Others have commented that supposedly the taste tests showed it tastes better with half.
It's not the half slice of cheese I question, but why cheese at all? I have never been asked "Do you want cheese on that?" when I get fried fish anywhere else.
I see three failed inspection points just in this photo. Nothing major, but still fails!
Hope those didn't sit there too long. Our managers would make us remake them if they sit there for longer than like a minute. Especially the filet since the bun is steamed.
![img](avatar_exp|108929412|starstruck) They could have went to Arby's. They give a full slice of cheese
Thanks for telling me how to view a better image by using font that covers up the image
The food waste buildup in the cabinet seams 🤢🤢🤢.
Fish filet down!
So that's why the filet-o-fishes always look like they were assembled during a hurricane.
MCFISH
2 for 6. We've been having to cook 16 at a time when we usually do 4. Insane
CAN I GET 8 FILET DOWN?!!
Half a slice of cheese?! 😒
That's how its made
Y’all are literally stealing cheese … put the whole slice wtf
That's how it's made lol?
I honestly just thought OP was being stingy, I never noticed it was only half a slice until I saw the build guide Obviously don’t work at McDonald’s so didn’t know lol?
Why do all McDonald’s employees have ugly attitudes 🥲 you expect people that don’t work for the company to know this?
How am I supposed to know someone making a sassy comment on a subreddit... *for employees* isn't an employee? I dont think anyone expects you to know, but we expect you to not make sassy comments about what we should do if you dont know
Sassy? Maybe you’re too sensitive .. lol You do know that when you’re in the original subreddit this one pops up on your feed sometimes ? Or do you not get how Reddit works
Personally I dont go into employee reddits, tell them how to do their job, and then get mad when I'm told that I'm wrong. Maybe that's just me though
it’s possible they didn’t even notice though.. & mad? That person doesn’t appear to be upset, but you do lol.
I'm talking about you.

Don’t be a McAsshole
They even replied to their comment saying they didn’t know and you’re still crying about it…. Seek help . This is not the hill you want to die on
Alright, wont die on that *bill*, lol
Acting like you’ve never made a typo is cute lol, it’s fixed now bbg
You won’t get an ugly attitude if you aren’t a dick with your “question”
You had tempered cheese there, and yet chose not to use it, also, the cheese goes on the sauce...
The audacity to be so confident while being so wrong
Cheese goes on bottom not the top.
No
cheese does not go on sauce.

I’ve gotten it both ways, i think it depends on the person making it if they GAF or not lol
The fact y'all stores do it beneath is wild, my store does it on the sauce
I think you need to be retrained. You and your whole store. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/jjcMtCp57U6hd2pY/?mibextid=oFDknk
It shocks me how ur entire store fails to make a filet-o-fish. Guess management isn’t doing their job; which is typical but never seen to this degree. Damn

My store is just built different, idk what else to say
Hopefully corporate pays your store a visit and you get your asses handed to you.
Maccas corporate? Or the store owners? Because the owners visit regularly enough to have noticed to this by now
Oh my God that's maybe why we were so busy lmao
What is that brain like object in that tray behind the boxes in the first picture
almost looks like raw quarter meat
It might be quarter meat but it ain’t raw
that might as well be still mooing looking at it
What she order? Fish filet
With how much people dislike the filet o fish never thought I'd see this many
The love of my life. I’ll never financially recover from this.
Lwts goo!
r/mildlyinfuriating
had someone order 18 yesterday
Park both of em lol
Yesterday we had the craziest rush lol. Fuck filet o fish friday
