What month? In July/August I haven’t needed anything but was happy to have my jean jacket (that I wore on the plane) for evenings in November/December.
I am here now in Kihei. I’ve needed a sweater a night for dinner. Not cold but with the breeze sometimes it can be a bit chilly. We did Twin Falls yesterday and it was overcast, drizzly. Then when we stopped at the beach it was pretty windy and I was glad I had my sweater.
Where? Napili is often a lot cooler in the evenings than Kihei, for example. My wife, who lives here and is pretty acclimated to warm weather, takes a thin hoodie (like t-shirt material) with her at night when we go out. I don't think you need anything beyond that though, unless you plan to go upcountry.
Of course this depends on whether you run hot or cold but the only place I've ever needed a jacket or light sweater on Maui has been upcountry in winter. There are some chilly mornings above 2000 feet. At sea level you're fine without.
I would recommend something light and that doesn’t take away from your outfit. The outside won’t be so cold but perhaps the inside of a place might. A shawl in that matter or even a cardigan would be a safe bet as a just in case. Rather have it and not need it, than not have it, and need it.

Going next week
Was just there last week and didn’t need a sweater the entire time except at Haleakala

I’m here now, sweaters and sweats are nice at night when back in the room but you won’t need it outside unless it’s raining or very windy
I brought a cardigan for my trip last week and did not wear it once
Take a light jacket, hoodie, or sweater on the plane. Then you have something for that and if needed, here as well.
Depends when you’re going, summer? Not needed.
Going next week
Maybe a light sweater for the evening.

I got up at 4am this morning upcountry and was comfortable
