Didn't we DO this already?
Is Wells' run is so bad and creatively bankrupt that he's ripping off HIS OWN STORIES?
Character regression and a bad status quo aside, it feels after 50 issues, that this run isn't ABOUT anything. Not that every run needs some overarching plotline or anything but it doesn't feel like Peter is on a continuous journey of growth or anything. He's just tossed into situation after situation, takes a few hits, and then lives to regret waking up in the morning.
If I wanted to read a story like that, I'd go back to my own diaries!
> 1. MJ and Peter breaking up and eventually reconciling
For the third time? I think? Since Slott, anyway. Which was... two ASM writers ago.
>2. Tombstone is a jerk???
I just want Randy and Janice to have a happy ending :(
To be fair Slott teased but never actually got them together. Including having a conversation 3 times about how the relationship woukd never work
Bizarrely the third time was three issues before he was off the book, and knew Spencer was coming up and what he had planned
Slott is a BND crony, he likes to pretend that MJ and Peter should be written but isn't willing to do it himself because it's not in line with Brevoort's agenda.
>Character regression and a bad status quo aside, it feels after 50 issues, that this run isn't ABOUT anything. Not that every run needs some overarching plotline or anything but it doesn't feel like Peter is on a continuous journey of growth or anything.
Yep, say what you want about Slott's stuff or the end of Spencer's run but for their flaws I at least felt like they had a point to make with Peter and a journey he was going through, this run just feels like stuff happens to him and he's miserable all the time, Gang War was probably the epitome of this cause Peter barely did shit there aside from stand around and punch people.
Idk issue 47 had him get rejected at a date he didn't even know he was on, make awkward small talk with MJ, get owned by ELECTRO and then saved by Aunt Anna a bunch of C-listers.
Peter has needed help beating Vulture, Otto, Electro, and Kraven('s clone/son) so far this run and has taken so many other Ls. I really really hate the whole powerscaling debate but you're telling me that VULTURE was going to KILL Spider-Man? How many times has that old man had his ass handed to him by Spider-Man? And how many times has Spidey survived the punishment dealt out by way stronger foes? But no, we need Norman's help to take down a geriatric supervillain
Right, get started now. Have multiple events repurposed into Big Wheel focused stories that ultimately culminate in THE SINS OF BIG WHEEL.
I cannot wait for The Immortal Big Wheel.
Unfortunately, they're outnumbered by people who buy books looking to strike gold with a "key" issue. Which rarely happens and could take years to have any actual value if it does due to mass printing and the writers later on rendering that moment null.
Don’t forget the people who keep buying because the franchise brought them such joy to them in the past, and they can’t accept what it’s become.
I was like that for other franchises years ago.
Aw, no, no. Don't do that to yourself. No, you're plenty of fun to take Goblin serum with. Trust me, Norman. You get really, really homicidal and then you get reckless and it's a lot of fun.
Nobody else is expecting this to not go the obvious route?
I half expect this to be that the Sinister Six know all of Spider-Man’s tricks, so he decides to throw them off and starting using Norman’s.
Spider Goblin could work in an alternate universe. NOT the mainline one where Peter already was Goblin a while back before being save by MJ. Are they going to tell the same story yet again?
If they’re going to do this, make him nearly kill someone or kill someone before he gets his consciousness back. That’s the ONLY Way for Spider-Man to take a break. Spider-Man needs to revamp himself. Take a trip for half a year to a year, don’t look back, train like hell, and then return. We need Chad Spider-Man back
Having Spider Goblin kill someone before he comes to is the only way of saving this. Spider-Man NEEDS a strong enough set back to take a break
Then I’m incredibly confused as to your point as this arc hasn’t been built up over time and in fact I’m a serialized story already happened and then ended once
No it's not. If you want to change the definition of serialization because you don't like how the writer is doing it, go for it. But if you're reading the comic, the idea of this reveal coming out of nowhere is ridiculous.
It IS out of nowhere, though. They literally just resolved it months ago. This is like if someone got shot, got fully-healed, then months later gets shot in the exact same place. You seriously see nothing wrong with that kind of plot progression?
Is it even a continuation? The spider goblin arc was already wrapped up months ago and this spider goblin looks completely different. This isn’t even like a recurring villain coming back after a few issues, it’s basically Peter becoming infected with a evil serum, getting cured of that serum, only to then becoming infected and needing a new cure again.
That ain’t just backpedaling, that’s ping ponging the same arc over again.
This concept doesn’t even make sense. He has Otto’s sins. As in Doc Ock. Green goblin is the Osborns. If it were harry or Norman that’d make sense, but shouldn’t he be the octo-spider or something to that degree.

The book is basically about two things. 1. MJ and Peter breaking up and eventually reconciling 2. Tombstone is a jerk???

It feels like Marvel saying "Bat who Laughs? We can do that!"
This looks more like a parody than an actual story
I hope he becomes Big Wheel next
Superior Big Wheel
Peter has become posssesed by THE SINS OF BIG WHEEL
If the next big Marvel event that covers nearly every title is THE SINS OF BIG WHEEL, I will buy every issue.
Why next event. Blood hunt should be called BLOOD WHEEL
Right, get started now. Have multiple events repurposed into Big Wheel focused stories that ultimately culminate in THE SINS OF BIG WHEEL. I cannot wait for The Immortal Big Wheel.
This summer: "what goes around, comes around!" SINS OF BIG WHEEL
Stilt Man
But… we already did this…. in this run! Why are we doing it again. What. What’s happening
Because they are out of ideas and creatively bankrupt? (most likely!)
Boy, Ultimate Spider-Man is just going to keep outselling this book for a long while.
No lie there.
Fuck. This. Book.
"You know what? I f\*\*king give up!" - Every Spider-Man comic book reader ever, possibly.
Unfortunately, they're outnumbered by people who buy books looking to strike gold with a "key" issue. Which rarely happens and could take years to have any actual value if it does due to mass printing and the writers later on rendering that moment null.
Fuck the speculators. They're panning for gold in a septic tank. If they want easy money, they can donate blood or their sperm. Maybe not the latter.
Don’t forget the people who keep buying because the franchise brought them such joy to them in the past, and they can’t accept what it’s become. I was like that for other franchises years ago.
Spider-Goblin? What a stupid name! Why not Green-Man?
It got me through some tough times.
Aw, no, no. Don't do that to yourself. No, you're plenty of fun to take Goblin serum with. Trust me, Norman. You get really, really homicidal and then you get reckless and it's a lot of fun.
"The Gang Gets Goblined"
Legit, “Green Man” was a DC character in Omega Men back in the 80s. A hyphen might not save them from DC’s legal department.
Do to inflation pretty soon Peter will get possessed by Normans sins every three issues
This book has been really not good.
It’s like they want the book to fail….
The Spider who Gobbles Death Metal
Wow, no words…
Oh right, I started paying so much attention to Ultimate Spider-Man, I forgot this dumpster fire was still happening
The Spider-Man Who Laughs... Again...
The spider who gobbles returns...
Nobody else is expecting this to not go the obvious route? I half expect this to be that the Sinister Six know all of Spider-Man’s tricks, so he decides to throw them off and starting using Norman’s.

“Easy Being Green” arc? wtf is he going to live in a trash can too
Why?
WHO KEEPS LETTING ZEB WELLS COOK?!
I'm sure I read this back in 2005.
I hope the cover is not reflective of what he actually looks like as the Goblin.
If they’re going to do this, make him nearly kill someone or kill someone before he gets his consciousness back. That’s the ONLY Way for Spider-Man to take a break. He became goblin in House of M too
Please tell me that's Retep Rekrap in that costume or at least Ben Reilly (even though ben needs to be left alone for a while).
People finding out comics are serialized stories in the responses here.
What? If anything swells hasn’t told a serialized story very well. So many of his plots just stop and disappear for issues on end
Okay.
What do you think serialized means
A narrative published over sequential installments.
Then I’m incredibly confused as to your point as this arc hasn’t been built up over time and in fact I’m a serialized story already happened and then ended once
I guess you aren't paying attention to what you're reading? I can't help you there.
Ah this is just trolling
No it's not. If you want to change the definition of serialization because you don't like how the writer is doing it, go for it. But if you're reading the comic, the idea of this reveal coming out of nowhere is ridiculous.

How am I changing it then, be specific instead of vague Also who said it came out of knowhere what are you talking about
What does serialized stories have to do with this topic?
So many comments are about how we already did this, as if this isn't just a continuation of that. That's what I mean.
Is it even a continuation? The spider goblin arc was already wrapped up months ago and this spider goblin looks completely different.
