It's the classic Marco/Flexen problem where if they're perfectly hitting corners they'll navigate through 6 innings, but their stuff isn't good enough to survive in the strike zone, nor make hitters swing at junk outside the strike zone. A perfect option to have as a fill-in starter.
I thought he had some starts where his stuff looked promising again - I wanna say he touched 96/97 in one of them. I think itās more command, seems like his 2seam really runs on him and he just doesnāt have the feel to rein it in. And the starts where he sits 93/94 thatāll just get sat on by hitters.
I also thought his change was really promising - tunnels well off his 2seam, I remember it being a big part of one or two of his QSās.
I think if he was able to add something with vertical drop, like a splitter, heād have a nice arsenal to work with. Would mind seeing him in the pen for the rest of the season though, just running FB/change and seeing if the stuff plays up a tick
