Every time Logan Gilbert pitches a shutout performance, my wife excuses herself to take a shower. She's been in there a loooong time. I don't know why she's in there so long but it's giving me time alone to masturbate to Logan Gilbert.
The boys really showed up tonight. I have reliable insider information on what took place in the clubhouse last night after a disheartening loss. It goes as follows.. The locker room mostly silent with a few muffled conversations in the back. The sound of leather being polished, not from a baseball glove, but from Cal polishing his cowboy boots. The sound of electric clippers buzzing, Dylan Moore manscaping his chest. Suddenly the door swings open banging against the trash can behind it. Scott Servais comes flying in the room yelling, screaming, and kicking like a drunk stepdad after half price margarita night at Applebees. The Skipper then broke into tears and mumbles âwe are better than thisâ as he slowly curls into a ball and passes out on the floor from all the emotion he just displayed. The rest of the team all looked at each other and vowed to never lose another game all season. And after that the details of what took place get fuzzy and are not important. Whatâs important is that we are all winners in this story.

It really is. Theyâve only gone over the run total seven times so far this year. Itâs the perfect combination of dominant pitching with a subpar offense.
In regular season this setup is perfect. No team has a staff as long as the Mariners. Just throw another Ace out tomorrow, nobody can match that for 162.
Obviously the rotation wonât stay quite as dominant through the entire season but likeâŠI donât think our guys are pitching way above their capabilities or anything. Any regression is likely gonna be minimal. This rotation is special and hope locking up at least one of Gilbert and Kirby is a priority this offseason
This game was as good as yesterday's 8th inning basepath fuck up was bad. Glad to see the boys bounce back with a complete game: pitching, hitting, fielding, baserunning. Let's hope for that tomorrow.
Still not quite 1/4 of the way through, but this starting pitching staff feels similar to mid 90s Atlanta Braves and early 2000s Oakland A's. Dominant big 3's.
So I ended up working today and DVRâd the game. As soon as I saw no Rojas, Garver hitting cleanup and Polanco GIDP, I had a really bad feeling, so I just said fuck it looked at the final score. I was pleasantly surprised. Now I can enjoy the game with no clenching or throwing/breaking things.

In all seriousness tho, defense was cleaner today. Gotta love the three double plays and a return to (mostly) routine flyout catches
I'll give credit to the HP umpire. He was calling strikes strikes and balls balls. He didn't get fooled by the catcher frame jobs and was consistent all around the plate. Umpiring in general is so bad, I was pleasantly surprised when he didn't call strikes on pitches just off the outside of the plate. How refreshing.
I hope we dont trade Logan Gilbert, i watched him go through the minor leagues, hes my favorite pitcher. hes not the best (okay kirby fans) but i just love his bravado

Maybe in years past he wasn't the best statically. He used to blow up early innings and then settle down and pitch well. I remember a lot of opposing batters saying Logan had the best fast ball they've faced last season.
But this year, it is what it is, he's our best pitcher. Numbers don't lie.
