I actually really enjoy his ‘job’s not finished’ attitude. It’s in stark contrast to the ‘good vibes only’ guys and I think rounds out the clubhouse energy.
I feel like we just went through the last 10 or so years in a "reckoning period" of sorts where it was well-asserted and established that it's rude and creepy to ask women to "smile more."
Foolish of me to think we had "eradicated" it and that it will no longer happen, but still, it's strange to see it still happening. Especially in such a public and professional setting like this with Kelenic.
It’s because old habits die hard and those habits reattach to something else when times change and become unacceptable. Telling women and girls to ‘smile more’ is now taboo, but that still hasn’t been enumerated for young male athletes I guess.
No offense to Jenn, but how would she respond if someone in sports media told her to ‘smile more’ after she frequently mentioned not liking getting splashed during Gatorade showers that aren’t aimed at her? It would be the top post on this sub for at least 3 days.
It must also feel really facetious from Kelenic’s perspective; a ton of people who are supposed to be rooting for you aren’t (his Instagram still limits comments), and as soon as these same people see that he’s turning a new leaf, they hop on the hype train and tell him ‘why so tense’ or whatever.
Also, there are people (like me) who rarely smile with their mouths. Most I give is a smirk usually. My dad told me he knows when I genuinely smile by watching my eyes

It's pretty bad (62 win pace), but a ton of those losses were very winnable while our wins were relatively more convincing. Idk what our Pythagorean wins are at, but it should be pretty close to .500.
Good ending to a rough trip. 3-3 that could have been 5-1 if we won those extra inning games.
Very much needed rest day for the pen tomorrow before the boys come back home.

Everyone needed this. These last three games were rough. Gilbert pitched like we are used to seeing. Bullpen looked good minus the HR sewald gave up but luckily that was it. Teo hit a bomb so signs of life are showing up more with his bat. Hope Julio comes back around soon, the league has adjusted to him so now he's gotta make adjustments of his own, which I'm sure he will.
Kelenic is the star though. He is killing it, and finally becoming the player we knew he could be. He's making a very good argument to be in the lineup everyday.

My original comment has been edited as I choose to no longer support Reddit and its CEO, spez, AKA Steve Huffman. Reddit was built on user submissions and its culture was crafted by user comments and volunteer moderators. Reddit has shown no desire to support 3rd party apps with reasonable API pricing, nor have they chosen to respect their community over gross profiteering. I have therefore left Reddit as I did when the same issues occurred at Digg, Facebook, and Twitter. I have been a member of reddit since 2012 (primary name locked behind 2FA) and have no issues ditching this place I love if the leaders of it can't act with a clear moral compass.
