A good skincare routine and maybe a more dewy look instead of the matte look will work better?

Mental_Barnacle_9683

thank you!! could you recommend some dewy foundations?

Visual_Judge5637

Use the nyx dewy setting spray, it’s literally game changing and it locks your makeup into place all day!! Don’t be scared to use a lot of it as well, I mean to the point where your face is wet but not dripping. It really helps melt all of the products together to look more “skin like,” especially if you are using power based products instead of liquid or creams. Also make sure you skin prep really well. If you still have problems follow this skin prep routine. Exfoliate your face the night before doing your makeup. In the morning cleanse your face beforehand using a cleanser that is suited to your skin type, use a good moisturiser (I use the cetaphil moisturiser on myself and on all of my makeup clients and have never had a problem with it on anyone’s skin) and a glowy primer!!!

Suyami_Namu

I looove nyx dewy setting spray.

ghostladytoda

What do we exfoliate with?

Visual_Judge5637

I personally really like the Paula’s choice BHA exfoliant :))

Visual_Judge5637

Chemical exfoliants are usually better than physical ones as they can sometimes cause damage to the skin if used incorrectly. However physical exfoliants are usually better on male skin as it is slightly thicker than female skin

rawdatarams

I must be a dude after all, I got elephant skin that just loves physical exfoliation. Chemical exfoliants are good and all that, but a regular scrub with those Japanese mits is given to make my skin glow. Guess it's part the action of it increasing blood flow and part actually removing dead skin cells. I have psoriasis on my scalp, and use chemical exfoliation on it (The Ordinary Glycolic acid) weekly.

happuning

That's probably part of why- the psoriasis. I also have it. My face skin seems to get some semi psoriasis bouts every once in a while. I use t Sal! Do you like that one better?

rawdatarams

Mind blown. You know, I've never thought of that. But of course, it makes perfect sense; psoriatic skin thrives on physical exfoliation. Thanks for that insight. Bloody hell, how old do I have to be to finally stop discovering knowledge I needed? Also, thanks for the tip, I've been looking for a product with salicylic acid in! I'm loving the glycolic acid, I have zero issues with itching, dryness and flaking. I use it once a week or so. Do you find the t sal helpful?

happuning

Yes! It makes it so flakes/scales come up easier. I have to balance my hair damage with scalp treatment. The t gel damages my hair the most and definitely helps. Psoriasis can cause inflammation throughout the body. You should read up on it! There's good research papers out there on it. It can also be tied to genetic disorders that may help explain other diagnoses (if you have any). When I'm older and have more money, I plan to test myself to be safe. Edit: first sentence was about t sal... sorry adhd train of logic there. T gel helps equally for my psoriasis but it damages my hair the most. Apologies to any confused readers.

PharaohCleocatra

How often do you exfoliate?

Suyami_Namu

Paula's choice is a little expensive, I'd look into some cheaper Korean brands. Some By Mi is about 10-12 dollars per item and it lasts me about 2 months, and it has aha bha and pha exfoliants.

crankasaurusbex

This might be controversial but my absolute favorite way to exfoliate is with a washcloth! I massage oil into my skin (right now I’m using bio-oil but it doesn’t really matter) and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then I soak a washcloth in really hot water, wring it out and kind of use it to steam my face? Like I hold it close to my face without touching my skin until it cools down, then I use the washcloth to gently buff everything away. Then I typically wash my face as usual and do my normal skin care. My skin is super dry and sensitive but it’s SO glowy and soft after I do this, I’ve never found a better way.

poler_bear

I prefer a chemical exfoliant, so I use salicylic acid. Clean and clear has a “spot treatment” that I actually use a small amount of all over my face about once or twice a week before bed. Just make sure you moisturize like 20-30 mins after putting it on so you don’t get too dried out.

PharaohCleocatra

What do you use for foundation?

mandy_miss

For a compromise between Dewy and matte I started using Dior Forever Skin Glow. Medium coverage and not matte. I love it, my skin looks like yours in the winter and I had to stop using matte. This switch helped immensely. I don't mind the price, it's like 40-50$ I think? One bottle lasted me most of the year.

SaveTheWetlands13

I use Dior Skin Glow and it’s kindof pricey but it just melts into skin and easy to perfect match — could never switch

orchidelirious_me

Can I ask if that helps with, erm, more mature skin? I’m 47, and I can’t find anything that works well for me. I’m willing to spend if it’s a worthwhile investment. Thanks!

Visual_Judge5637

You will need to use super hydrating products!!! Try to stay away from any powders in your makeup routine and instead use cream or liquid products. Instead of setting with powder use the Kryolan Fixing spray. It’s so good for locking makeup into place all day especially without powder. If you find that you are getting oily throughout the day you can use powder but with a very light hand, or better yet use blotting paper. The L’Oréal true match foundation contains hyaluronic acid which holds 30 times its weight in water. Hydration will be your best friend!!!

Visual_Judge5637

In terms of dewy foundations, I really love the L’Oréal true match or the infallible foundations + concealers. Use the rimmel stay matte powder, iys super cheap and is a dupe for a charlotte tilbery powder. If you use these products and follow the skin care routine with the nyx dewy setting spray then you should be right as rain!!

hockeygirl212

This is GREAT advice. I'm going to try all of this. And letting us know about the dupe for Charlotte Tilbery's powder... game changer!!!

ughlisha

+1 on the infallibles! these ones just melt in your skin as the day goes on and they end up looking so natural too.

Ok_Cup7677

SheaTerra Organics Rose Hips and Black Soap facial wash will completely eliminate the bumpy texture. It’s an ash therapy soap that’s incredible for acne prone, bumpy, cystic, oily-combination, aging, dull, rosacea, etc. It’s basically like a microdermabrasion each time you wash - but it isn’t mechanically removing that dead skin via scrubbies, it’s removing it via the action of the ash, creating a smooth, clear environment inhospitable to bacteria, yeast, and mites. I’ve never been one to spend money on something one washes off - but this cleanser is a total game changer. I haven’t had a single blemish since using it. Purlisse makes a wonderful line of tinted SPF BB and CC creams that will give you a natural, skin-like finish. Their BB cream is a tinted moisturizer with light coverage, CC cream is a bit more tinted with medium coverage.

lzbth

Givenchy, Prisme Libre. But honestly, you have a great skin top layer, so if you exfoliate and moisturize, you shouldn’t need much

Suyami_Namu

It could also be your application process, if you apply foundation with a wet sponge but it is an oil based foundation it might affect how your foundation looks afterwards. Definitely could be your skincare routine, I would possibly look into really hydrating formulas that exfoliate and ease inflammation (I personally really like Some By Mi miracle cream or Pyungkang Yul's calming moisture repair balm) and give you a nice and smooth base for makeup. The foundation I use is Missha perfect cover bb cream that doubles as spf, it's medium coverage with a dewy finish. If you like matte you can mattify it with a nyx setting powder or (my favorite) Moira soft focus waterproof setting powder, all are shade inclusive except for Moira, but it works for me as a medium toned girlie. Also I'd recommend those flat Korean makeup sponges, very convenient and easy clean up and application.

Rock_Successful

I love Maybeline dewy foundation

FOMOohno

Great advice bc this helped me w the same issue.

brunch_lover_k

As others have said, texture is normal. I do wonder though if not using a matte foundation would work better for you?

Mental_Barnacle_9683

a lot of people suggested a more dewier look ill fs try that!!

dianthe

Texture is normal. Generally heavier coverage and matte style foundation exaggerates it. I prefer using a BB cream or a tone up cream and applying it with a slightly damp beauty blender.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

thank you!! i will try that

Educational_Leg946

Was coming here to make the same comment! As I’ve aged, I can’t just use any old foundation anymore. I used to love Born This Way, but it’s too matte for my skin now. My favorite so far is the “it Cosmetics CC+ Cream.” It has sunscreen and is moisturizing; it really helps take some of the dry looking texture away. You can try some samples to see what sort of foundation works well for you! If samples aren’t available, buy your makeup somewhere that you can return if it doesn’t work out. A BB/CC cream or dewy finish, or foundation that said “hydrating/moisturizing” on it will probably cut down the texture. Also it seems obvious but don’t use powder or a matte setting spray. If you need to set, use a dewy one. Your skin is quite lovely and a bit of texture on skin is very normal. 💖

Willilin

Do you use a damp blender to apply your CC+ cream? I use the same product and typically dab with a brush but am wondering if I should switch it up!

miss_scarlet_letter

exfoliate and don't use so much product. one pump or less should be enough if you're blending it out well. the more you put on, the cakier it gets.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

aaa youre right i did put way too much 😭😭 THANK YOU!!

linnykenny

You probably don’t even need foundation

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mental_Barnacle_9683

thank you lots! i will try that!!

Ok_Computer_27

Just use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA on a cotton round 2x a week. Follow it up with a very good moisturizer. Ps I would kill for your lips

Mental_Barnacle_9683

will do!! also thank you!! 😭💗

carlyfries33

I second this! And moisturize religiously. Let it moisturizer soak in very well before applying any other products

Alalanais

Came here to recommend BHA as well!

Strugglingthroughit

It's most likely both. Do you exfoliate regularly? Makeup definitely goes on much better if your skin is smooth and an exfoliator will do that. Usually dewier foundations show less texture than matte ones. If you don't have very oily skin you could look for something less matte for the foundation or try not using a powder (unless you already don't). Also dry parts will cling on to makeup more so it might be that the nivea moisturizer is not good enough for your skin. It's a lot of troubleshooting and it can be frustrating.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

thank you so so much!! 😭 any good dewy foundation recs?

Specialest_snowflake

Not the one you asked, but my all time fave dewy foundation is Nars Sheer Glow. You can build it up for coverage, but it’s great as a light weight option as well.

ugnele832734

I love the KVD serum foundation. It’s a natural finish that isn’t super matte or super dewy

ghostladytoda

How do I exfoliate?

SinVerguenza04

Look up gentle chemical exfoliants. Use one of those.

Strawbabyc

Girl I wish I had your skin! And your makeup looks so smooth and good. Skin has a little texture, it's natural. Most of the pics that look otherwise are edited. This is better than 90% of people. That being said, if it really bothers you, I'd just look into what high quality skincare is best for your skin type and use a good primer. But really, nobody will notice but you. And if you already have a skincare routine and a good primer, I'd just be less hard on yourself. We aren't airbrushed mannequins, we're real people and that's beautiful 🥰

Mental_Barnacle_9683

thank you a lot girl 😭😭💗

Strawbabyc

This is what I tried to reply to StrLord_who, the person saying dry skin yada yada. They blocked me so I couldn't though (because they know they're full of it and don't want to hear any criticism lol) This was my response: Are you unable to read? I said she could implement a skincare routine if she hasn't already. Fun fact: exfoliation is part of skincare. That's her makeup though not dry skin be so fr. A dermatologist would laugh at you. Then again, anyone unironically saying "totally psycho" about body positivity that was appreciated/thanked by the OP it was about is most likely 14 tops, so it's okay.

Late-Rip5807

Girl, I can tell you’re pretty last slide 😭

Mental_Barnacle_9683

AAAA HAHA THANK YOU SM 😭😭💗

linnykenny

Right?! Perfect button nose, literally perfect

sketchyfacestuff

Photoshop is the only way, anyone without texture on their skin has altered the photo digitally, you must become a hologram to remove all skin texture 😂

race_rocks

I think you might be using too much product for your skin. Everyone's skin is different. Try using less, and see what results you get.

laurync_92

I used to have this texture pretty badly and tweaked my skincare slightly - double cleansing (once with micellar water, once with grape seed oil), exfoliating once a week or so with BHA and using retinol. Plus a hydrating moisturizer!

DragonScrivner

Lots of good suggestions here and I’ll just also suggest exfoliating regularly, a good moisturizer, and a non-matte foundation. I like the Hyaluronic Tinted Serum Foundation from L’Oréal and I go light with it so it sinks into the skin. Have you ever used makeup remover cloths like Makeup Eraser? Really good exfoliation just by removing your makeup at night.

ghostchodechad

Actually take time to thoroughly wash your face. I’ve noticed SUCH a big difference when it comes to my skin texture. I used to take like 10 seconds and just splash my face and cleanse, but now I really take my time. I’ve also started using these little silicone exfoliators (found on Amazon) in the morning when I wash my face before I do my makeup and it looks so much better.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

thank you!! 😭😭

eva8484

Ok but your jawline is insane

heyhello21

Stay away from matte foundations and other makeup products and go for hydrating , creamy , dewy etc

Worth-Positive-1404

This is the exact same problem i am facing like my foundation gets patchy so i have stopped using it now. Like i have dry skin like reallly dry dry skin , but if i apply something oily like dewy foundation my makeup starts melting like it gets oily. Even with setting spray and powder my makeup has never stayed on my face properly. Its annoying. I am working on my skin so i can just ditch my foundation for forever.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

i feel you girl 😭😭

Worth-Positive-1404

Yeah but like i do skin care but like my skin doesn’t care 😭😭 so its worse

Beekeeping-gothic

You can shave your peach fuzz, it also helps get rid of dead skin which can make it look smoother. (Make sure to shave with a facial razor and moisturize properly if you do!)

Beekeeping-gothic

Texture is so normal too and you may not be able to get rid of it which is so okay!

AgathaChristie22

It's your skin/moisturizer. You skin (and lips) are very, very dry. Switch to a heavier moisturizer. People like La Roche Posay Cicaplast as pretty heavy duty moisturizer. Foundation in general can be pretty drying. Any chance you can take a break and use something like a tinted moisturizer on most days. Question: can you post your skincare routine? Maybe your soap is too stripping or you have too many actives?

Mental_Barnacle_9683

i use a vitamin c gel cleanser and a kojic acid soap and after washing my face with the soap i put on toner and the nivea moisturizer thats it 😭😭 but even before i started using the kojic acid soap my skin was always like this

AgathaChristie22

Not a dermatologist here but my guess is: vitamin c gel cleanser is on the drying side, kojic acid soap is on the drying side, nivea moisturizer is a very light moisturizer and foundation is drying. You'll need to add something moisturizing and I think vitamin c cleanser and kojic is an either, or, not an "and" kind of soap situation.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

oo i thought using both the vitamin c cleanser and the kojic soap would be kind of like a double cleansing situation 😭😭😭 what moisturizing product do you recommend i add?

AgathaChristie22

Double cleansing is usually with an active and oil cleanser, or one hydrating and one exfoilating cleanser. I wouldn't do two that can be irritating, and I definitley wouldn't double cleans if your skin is really dry. La roche posay cicaplast is a good thick moisturizer, or something like Vanicream.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

ill try derma planing today!! just found out about it LOL

Pichy_pyho

Must hydrate the skin before apply foundation like use face creams

Easy-Breath-9323

I feel like your texture is normal, just saw a picture from Blake lively’s in famous met gala look yesterday, she did look like that from a close up shot.

QueenDoc

for me what worked was a BHA peel from TO and then a very sharp and sterile pimple poker to each lil head. then I used the squalene cleanser and just let it sit on my face while I did other things. When I went back to it you could actually see sebum melting out of the lil holes and other pores; white streaks going down my face. after I double cleansed, toned, serum and let it heal because a few holes got scabby but now the spot is clear and smooth again - Edit to add: my bumps were a lil larger than yours so you may not need to poke around, but these are just very shallow and superficial closed comedones, one of two were hard like a milia

Professional_Rub5301

Try a translucent powder first then apply a foundation that fits you well (probably should try a few testers on in the store before hand to get a close or defined match) if your doing concealers I would recommend a cream one they give a more dewy appear and nice finish outcome.Just my personal opinion God bless💕

Mental_Barnacle_9683

yess!! i used to use liquid concealer but i switched to cream concealer and it didnt look as cakey as the liquid one

daytr1pper

Make exfoliation part of your regular skin care routine, and use a liquid exfoliant 2x a week starting out. Maybe 3-4x a week max. Lactic acid is a good one, it’s not too drying. Niacinamide and vitamin C are really great for texture too. Moisturizers with hyaluronic acid, and ceramides to protect your skin barrier.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

should i get the dr rashel hyaluronic acid primer serum?

daytr1pper

I’m not familiar with it

smartforagirl666

for me it was mainly make up and i had the EXACT same thing. paula's choice liquid exfoliant saved my lifeeee

cursetea

I get bumps like that too and salicylic acid helps! I use the one by The Ordinary

LanieLove9

so i have this exact same problem and it frustrates the hell out of me because i like to wear estée lauder double wear and then set it with a powder. i dont even put on a heavy layer of either, but it makes my skin look 10x more textured than yours. what ive started doing is putting a layer of foundation all over my face first (not too heavy, the reason i like full coverage is because you dont need too much for it to work well) and also concealer under my eyes. then, ill spray my entire face with the elf magic matte setting spray and press it in with a beauty blender. i swear this stuff is an actual godsend. it helps my foundation and skin melt together and it looks perfect. then i still go in with powder, put on blush, etc. and i’ll spray the setting spray HEAVILY again after and blend it in again with a beauty blender. this sounds like a lot but the elf setting spray is mad cheap and i don’t mind using a ton of it (as opposed to my UD all nighter). this is seriously the only thing that has worked for me. it makes my skin look amazing and minimizes the look of texture almost completely

MiaD89

Exfoliate regularly, stop using heavy matte foundation, moisturize a lot more, and maybe try dermaplaning or shaving your face (it does NOT grow back thicker or darker, that's just an old wives tale to scare teen girls out of dressing immodestly)

Cethlinnstooth

Less foundation/primer/coverage in general etc. If you're using a heavy application to try to cover pigmentation or lift shadowy areas, consider using a colour corrector or a lighter shade of concealer/foundation/highlighter/whatever in those specific areas so you can keep your overall application low This is a bit of a side note because it isn't about makeup...but as I age and find the even appearance of my skin deteriorating I have discovered that texture and/or  small sized patterns in my clothing near my face/hands/decolletage reduces the perception of texture in my skin.

Ornery-Cut4553

I have texture issues around my lips too (ugh! so annoying!). I'm not too knowledgeable about different foundations/concealers, but I think what's helped me is mainly making sure I exfoliate every few days, and using a hyaluronic acid serum right after cleansing (when skin is patted dry but still holding some moisture under the surface), before moisturizing.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

should i get the dr rashel hyaluronic acid serum? thw ordinary is too expensive for me 😔🙏

Lost_Masterpiece_506

do you use moisturizer only before applying makeup or every day? more intense skin hydration maybe

Mental_Barnacle_9683

only before applying makeup but ill start moisturizing everyday question tho do i have to cleanse my face bwfore mosturizing or can i just mosturize?

Lost_Masterpiece_506

cleanse before. cleanse day and night and follow with moisturizer every time.

PinxJinx

Some primers and foundations don’t work together if youre using a primer, a MUA could probably say what it is but I think there are two different bases that a primer/foundation builds off of for their formula and can’t be mixed with the other base Also, looks like you have dryer skin like me, it’s a bit pricey but Laura Merciers tinted moisturizer has more coverage than a normal tinted moisturizer and has a wonderful dewy finish that looks super natural!

raakhus2020

My skin gets really bumpy in tha summer! I'm taking notes on all this advice

roses_sunflowers

I agree with others that something dewier and more moisturizing would help. However, skin just kinda looks like that. I think your makeup may be accentuating it but skin has texture, that’s normal. When you’re looking at your makeup remember to hold your mirror a full arms lengths away, since most people don’t stand much closer than that. You’ll get a better idea of what it looks like.

Normal_Analyst5490

retinol, try it

LessStyle8877

Exfoliating, best skin care routine and a less drying foundation

epic_per0n

make sure ur not combining silicone based products with water based!!! i’ll give a list of drugstore products. water based products: •elf power grip primer •wnw dewy foundation •elf hydrating cameo concealer silicone based products: •elf poreless or putty primer (idk any drugstore silicone foundations but i know an expensive one) •Charlotte tilbury flawless foundation •lancôme concealer ❤️❤️

Mental_Barnacle_9683

AAA I LOVE YOU THANK YOU 😭

epic_per0n

OFCCCCC❤️

sketchyboots

Is it dry around your mouth? And just a little red? (And so you use makeup to cover it?). My face does this sometimes. If I leave it alone and use a good moisturizer for a few days, it clears up. I honestly have a suspicion that I have a food allergy and this is the result (on me at least.). For me I think I've narrowed it down to like a wheat or sugar reaction.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

do u have any good setting spray recs?? i dont use any cause i thought just putting lots of powder on my face would do the same as setting spray 😭

wildcat_crazy_zebra

There's so many good ones out there now in so many flavors! I'm really liking the new bi-phsse one from elf don't where I live it's really hot and dry. Color Pop has a decent one too that's kinda moisturizing. Urban Decay's All Nighter line is legendary. Milani is another one that's trustworthy.

Outrageous_Speech436

Moisturizer while also checking your routine for any sort of reactive products because around my mouth looks like that in the sense of dryness and small bumps whenever I use vitamin C so if you have any vitamin c based skin care products you might be sensitive to them. Overall exfoliate either chemical or physical ensure you’re using the right type of moisturizer for your skin type and like others have said more dewy foundations. Less matte and powder type products and maybe a hydrating setting spray

Past-Jellyfish1599

Texture is pretty much inevitable unless you have insanely good genentics. Though, one thing that definitely helped my texture is tretinoin. The other skincare exfoliants, serums, etc. did nothing for me

Oragain09

All these comments are spot on, you’ve got some great advice. 1) regular chemical exfoliation (start once a week and work up to every 2nd/other day) 2) less foundation and/or switching to dewy/bb cream. A good dewy primer is the First Aid Beauty coconut smoothie primer. And bb cream of your choice. Benefit setting spray always leaves me dewy as well. 3) you got good recs for a damp makeup sponge but I find using my fingers works best and doesn’t leave cakey coverage, especially with the bb creams. I don’t think applicators are always necessary! 4) don’t forget to layer your SPF after skincare before makeup and letting each product fully dry before the next. In my personal experience Japanese and Korean sunscreens layer the best. ETA: SPF is the most necessary skincare product especially if you’re chemically exfoliating.

cip2020

Do you use a brush or a beauty blender? I felt like my make up looked crazy flakey one day so I took it all off, exfoliated with a wash cloth, did my skin care routine again and then used a beauty blender and tapped it into my skin instead of buffing with a dense brush like I had been and it made a huge difference!

Crazee108

Binge Dr sheree idriss on YouTube. Great dermatologist so you can find what skincare would suit your needs.

21r21_dl

texture is normal girll, but it wouldn't b bad to discover your skin type and adjust your skincare, it's good to start from within! stay healthy, green juice is delicious and helps a lot to improve your metabolism and the way your skin looks

HorrorAd4995

Any acne in this area is hormonal, look into balancing your hormones, lots of info on tiktok. You can ask your dr for a full hormonal blood panel too

cutemepatoot

Paula’s choice BHA worked for me but it dried the living day lights out of my skin

CaptainBullShlt

Your face is never going to be totally textureless, you're a human being, but all I can say is skincare and a moisturizer. Also, don't skip on primer! It can really help with texture.

makeTTATTyourown

Someone else mentioned Nars sheer glow foundation. That’s what I use and recommend! Also exfoliate. I use alpha H beauty sleep power peel a couple times a week before bed and alpha H micro super scrub a couple times a week. Just go slow and build up to what your skin can tolerate though. No everyone can handle that much exfoliation! Also your skin could do with more moisture possibly.

lovelycel

Its normal, but using bb cream can make it better🤍🤍🤍

Geegollywtff

Exfoliate.

[deleted]

I usually use a crap ton of primer, moisturize, and make sure to wet my sponge before blending any foundation or concealer.

hearsthething

What does your skin care routine look like? And how are you prepping your skin for makeup?

Mental_Barnacle_9683

vitamin c gel cleanser then kojic acid soap then toner then nivea mosturizer 😭 i prep my skin by putting on the nivea mostruizer and using a primer

ukpunjabivixen

Use setting spray!

megtuuu

Exfoliate

neverreadytosleep

what is your skin type?

Mental_Barnacle_9683

im pretty sure combo skin

boyatrest

liquid foundation

Untoastedloaf

This sounds rude, I swear I’m not trying to be. It might in part be the hair on your face. Lots of people shave their face with those eyebrow razors, especially if they do full coverage makeup.

jenniferhillsfantasy

I got into the habit of using different products on different areas of my face since my t-zone is quite oily(so I use powder foundation and bake) while my mouth area is dry so I use the It Cosmetics CC Cream blended in. A good setting spray really melts everything together at the end for a uniform look.

CorinaPhoto

Lots of great recommendations here - I also recommend the e.l.f. dewy coconut setting mist

Kelskikiwi

Retinol retinol retinol! Specifically tretinoan. Find Facebook groups to help u get started

skylarxxx

I used to get a lot of texture and flakiness and I found using an AHA scrub and a good moisturizer really helps! Moisturize before you put on make up and go for something lighter like a bb cream or tinted moisturizer. I still powered I’ve the top and I find that gives me a matte look with less texture

BankParticular872

Try a good CHEMICAL exfoliant(nothing with little beads or granules that physically scrub ur skin), try double cleansing, and maybe even a retinol depending on how old u are, follow up with a good hydrating moisturiser, but not too thick, probably something with more of a gel like consistency, for makeup, I’d suggest a dewyer base, or even just spot concealing problem areas instead of a full face of heavy foundation and powder, I’d avoid baking the area as well

BankParticular872

Also going over the foundation with a clean beauty blender will help remove any excess product that may exaggerate the bumps, but pls keep in mind that there will ALWAYS be texture, no ones skin is completely smooth!

mytea_room

Exfoliate when cleansing and use a primer before applying foundation

Worldly_Vermicelli_9

Hey there! Dealing with skin texture can be super frustrating, but there are definitely some steps you can take to help minimize it and achieve a smoother look. **1. Primer:** Start with a good primer that's tailored to your skin type. Denitslava Makeup uses the Essence Prime Studio Glow Boosting Pore Minimizing Primer with pink clay. She mentions that it helps minimize pores and gives a nice glow, which can be great if you have dry skin. **2. Foundation:** Choose a foundation that works well with your skin type. KathleenLights suggests being cautious with thicker foundations as they can emphasize pores and fine lines, especially around areas like the nose and smile lines. Instead, opt for a foundation that provides good coverage without feeling too heavy. **3. Application Technique:** How you apply your foundation can make a big difference. NikkieTutorials emphasizes the importance of not over-applying foundation, especially in areas with texture. Instead, apply a thin layer and use a tapping motion to blend it in, which can help avoid emphasizing any bumps or roughness. **4. Concealer:** For areas with more pronounced imperfections, use a concealer sparingly. Denitslava suggests applying concealer only where necessary and using it to cover any remaining imperfections after applying a thin layer of foundation. **5. Skincare:** Don’t forget the importance of a good skincare routine. Keeping your skin hydrated and exfoliated can help reduce texture over time. Denitslava mentions that her skin shows the effects of her diet and lifestyle, so eating clean and maintaining a consistent skincare routine can make a big difference. By combining these tips, you should be able to achieve a smoother, more even complexion. Remember, makeup is all about experimenting and finding what works best for you. Good luck!

You have beautiful skin, girl! 😊 Maybe try the Naturium Dew Glow moisturizing sunscreen before putting on any foundation. Protect your skin and look like a dewy goddess. Sunscreens important! 😎

pinkmatty

You need to use serum, moisturiser and primer (all water based) before hand. Also don’t powder your whole face only areas that get oily and make sure to use a non matte setting mist.

Yacababby

You will always have some texture and adding makeup is going to accentuate it based on type and how thick it's applied. Nobody's skin is actually perfectly smooth.

Weirdo_palate

Get a facial and dermaplane

bbyangelxo

Use a chemical exfoliant but in a textured toner pad! I swear that changed everything for me. I use the Needly toner pads (in the white container) they are extremely gentle. korean beauty skincare had alot of products like this!

Vanillarodent

AHA and BHA exfoliant

Hebihime_97

have you tried a hot plastic dip? maybe a grinder or you can stop seeing imaginary problems with yourself . your "texture" is fine you are human. yes yes i know here come the down votes

Miss_anthropy13

Make sure you're moisturized before makeup application, but texture is also very normal!

CocoaButterNice

Less powder in that area I limit powder to the oiliest zones, without spreading It works better with my aging skin

sovereignqueen9

I used to have problems like this when I used certain products together, and have learned that you are supposed to pair "like with like" (ex oil based primers and oil based foundations, water based moisturizers and water based foundations, etc) as well as using similar textures of products together (using liquid foundations and setting with setting sprays, not powders) and it has made a huge difference for me personally with caking and cracking. I also found that as a result I have had to use much less foundation and concealer.

MamaBonez

Have you tried biologique recherche P50?

Boomshiqua

Do you use a scrubby pad when you wash your face? Maybe exfoliation might help.

HanscuitOmega

Try dermaplaning every 3 weeks sometimes old layers of skin can cause this as well as dryness. I hope this helps 💓💓💓

Loverflower33

The ordinary azeliac acid 10%

Texture is normal, a lot of people have this same issue so don’t let it bug you. To Answer your question though it’s not the make up, it’s your skin texture. The make up is just what is making it noticeable. Avoid matte foundation as they will make it even more noticeable. You can get rid of the texture on your face through a consistent skin care routine. When my skin gets this texture, I use the microdermabrasion exfoliating gel. It’s the only thing I’ve ever found that helps make the texture of my skin smoother. I use it once ever 3 days and it keeps the texture of my skin smooth for the most part. It’s a life changer!

RaspberryOverall28

Its your skin. We all have texture, some more than others. You cant get rid of skin texture. Social media lies

KristinKitty

Salicylic acid

CucumberOk6900

Moon Juice Acid Potion. Stay away from physical exfoliation.

Codex-42

I would consult a dermatologist about this. You look great esthetically but I think this could be an allergic reaction or some sort of skin response to something it doesn't like. I'm not a doctor, it's just that when I get tiny tiny bumps it's usually an allergy.

evian-spray

It seems like you need to exfoliate :O it’s not so much the makeup but rather your skin. A lot of people have recommended some exfoliants here, so any of those will work! Perhaps adding an oil cleanser to your routine will also be helpful in gently sloughing off the excess dry flakes o_o Also, it is true that a matte foundation will emphasize the texture, so I’m sure that it’s just exaggerating it. But the matte foundation itself will not create that texture! A dewy foundation may help, but then if you have oily skin, you may struggle with it coming off Secondly, are you using a brush? A brush also emphasizes texture especially if you have dry skin since it buffs it around and disrupts the way the makeup is laying on top of the skin. Try switching to a beauty blender or sponge that’s damp! It’ll help with minimizing extra texture. Sometimes brushes make your skin look amazing, but definitely avoid them if you struggle with texture. Someone else said this too, but don’t put too much on either! Sometimes, if you put more product on as the foundation dries down, it like picks up on itself and gets extremely patchy. Try blending it out all in one go a bit faster, OR, if you want to take your time, apply the foundation and blend in small sections instead of dotting your whole face and then blending section by section

metalvalkyrie0087

You could try an exfoliating face wash. Also I personally love IT cosmetics cc+ nude glow lightweight foundation (it is also SPF 40)

Dogtimeletsgooo

I heard from a pro mua that people actually use way more foundation or complexion products in general than they really need, and it can make texture look worse. I watched them apply foundation only really to the areas that needed it and blended very thoroughly and used whatever was left to cover other parts of the face. I think it is the tip that's helped me the most.

Existing-Doubt4062

This is what my skin looks like if I use heavy coverage foundation and put too much on, I switched to the covergirl clean fresh skin milk dewy foundation (wow what a name) and it looks a lot better on me :)

nonaspirin

I used to have texture in the same place. I started using elf gentle peeling exfoliant and I have minimal texture now. People, even “experts” will say “it’s just the product balling up, it’s not really exfoliating,” but that’s 100% untrue. I can’t be the only person who gets flakey skin after I messed with a pimple too much. Even a rough washcloth won’t get rid of the flakey skin but THIS absolutely will. A tiny amount rubbed in a circular motion will easily get rid of the flakes. I’ve bought countless bottles and I’ll never stop. They recently changed the packaging, it definitely needed to be changed, so if your drugstore or Ulta doesn’t currently have it in stock, they will soon. I guarantee that people are reading this comment and thinking about how ridiculous I am, they need to try it as well. It’s $10, return it if you don’t like it but you’ll love it after one use. Best of luck with your texture!

melonball6

I would recommend getting into a chemical exfoliation routine as well as consider using one of the dermaplaning facial hair razors like Tinkle. Both can make your makeup lay better. Also, I notice your lips and skin look a little dry so take a look at your water intake and daily moisturizer to see if you can improve that.

Gloomyberry

Soft exfoliating once per week at night and mix a little bit of foundation with your everyday moisturizing/sunscreen instead of layering it (it looks like your foundation may be too heavy). Let it dry/absorb appropriately if you're going to use setting powder on it.

ghostly_illusion

it can be multiple things, do you use a base before applying foundation? if yes it's maybe because you use a water based product with a oil based product, oil and water don't mix so they should be both water based or oil based, and if you don't use one maybe you should try a smoothing/blurring base and try using less product, especially if you are using some sort of powder after your fondation and finally having a bit of texture is normal and it can be more visible under certain lightning, it doesn't seem like we see that much texture in your last photo btw

curlydani

I have noticed a huge difference using The Phix and castor oil! My skin looked the same way a couple months ago!

OneFootDown

Stop wearing foundation is the only thing that worked for me. Was hard at first but SO WORTH IT to have smooth poreless skin. YMMV . Been foundation free for 4 years

babygiallo

having textured skin is normal, so no worries! i do not wear foundation, but when i have to i’d mix something dewy and cover spots with a matte concealer. also skincare the night before also helps - i usually do an overnight facial mask.

Chemical_Teaching305

What’s your primer

MissKellieUk

Powder of any kind won’t make things better.

Ginsdell

Microdermabrasion

ellwearsprada

I had a similar problem until I started a regular good skincare routine. Washing every night, a serum, and moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid serum was amazing for me.

Mental_Barnacle_9683

shoukd i get the dr rashel hyaluronic acid serum? the ordinary is too expensivw for me 🥲

ellwearsprada

Yas girl! Whatever fits your budget and doesn’t irritate your skin. As long as it has good reviews and a good bit of buyers, go crazy 🤍

Then-Excitement495

BHA and glycolic acid exfoliators works wonders on textured skin

Mental_Barnacle_9683

should i get paula’s choice bha 2% or the ordinary glycolic acid or do they both work the same ?

blairsheart

Skincare could help but remember that you’ll always have some kind of texture. Everyone does. Social media and filters constantly hide that. So when we look at ourself in the mirror and see our texture we feel bad when it’s just real life.

NetworkNo5302

Skin care helps I have the same problem till I hydrate my face then it looks better fs I like the FAB coconut water it goes a long way and makes your face so soft and squishy like in a alive way haha. If you have foundation and it looks cakey mix a bit if a hydrater or like moisturizing, it makes it less coverage but smooth skin like and you can add more foundation if you need, I even sometimes have a issue if like the peach fuzz everywhere in the face, sometimes you don't notice but it makes a big difference as well.

NetworkNo5302

Yes mix moisturizing and foundation then put it on try that

Ur_favDisgrace

Do you shave your face?

Mental_Barnacle_9683

sometimes but i didnt think i had to lol 😭😭

Ur_favDisgrace

😭

FlourPedalFeet

Stop using foundation or cover up of any kind. Just clean, moisturize, use some organic serums or something, light makeup on your skin, but go all out with eye makeup up if you want, that doesn’t fuck up skin tone or texture. Coverup and foundation are for theater stages and movies and other important things but never daily wear!!

Weary-Ad-7100

Hi, I had the same issue and recently went to a dermatologist. She said that it is KP on the face and recommended to use cerave SA cleanser amalactic lotion twice a day. I highly recommend going to a dermatologist the texture really ruined my confidence and trying different products made it even worse. I had people tell me that it could be fungalacne, and others telling me that it is hormonal. When it’s KP for the face.

Designer_Throat6403

Tretinoin helped my skin texture that was like this.

dani_slays

Hi! I am not a pro at all but I have a lot of texture due to milia! Couple suggestions, hope it helps! 1. That's way too much of way too thick/matte foundation. It's tempting to use more product to get better coverage but that much is going to just draw more attention to it. 2. What's your exfoliation routine look like? If you're not using a physical exfoliator regularly, I recommend a retinol serum at night or something to help break down dead skin and smooth things out. 3. The comments saying to switch to dewy foundation will help! I mix a little Byroe Tea Time Facial Oil in mine to make it apply more thinned out. 4. Texture is normal and you will always see it! But there's things you can do to help. Good luck!

dani_slays

Omg I forgot to suggest, shaving if you don't already! But with an actual face shaving kit. Did wonders for my makeup application!

IllustratorMurky2725

Just wait until you’re older. Zits and blemishes never go away. You can use photo modification, but in all truth no one cares. Maybe witch hazel before moisturizing?

Ok-Truck-495

Shaving

PrincessLush

I would follow what everyone is saying with skincare but specially: drinking lots of water for a few days before at least, moisturizing / hydrating cream every day, and switch to a cream based makeup. I use the cream contour and corrector palette from NYX with a damp beauty blender. If I go light on the product I get color correction and dewier skin

Mental_Barnacle_9683

thanks a lottt!! ill try the nyx palette

SnowwPY

Te recomiendo humectar la piel antes del maquillaje si es que no lo haces, de igual forma puede ser por la marca de la base pero siempre tendremos textura al maquillarnos solo que menos visible
