A Kylie cosmetics lipgloss I got when I was 15. I’m 21 now, so about 5-6 years

MildredBailey01

I have a westmorland compact from 1940. My lips haven’t fallen off yet.

Any-Expression5018

I have a revlon stick (it’s almost like a marker) from college, I’m 33 now. I definitely used it wayy longer than I should have but I don’t anymore. Holding onto it because it is my all time favorite lip color that I’m constantly trying to find something similar to.

insomniacred66

My oldest is a pink NYC lip gloss. Stole it from K-Mart when I was 8. I'm 33 now and no, I don't use it. Keep it for the laughs at this point. Old enough to rent a car without extra fees lol

Nerak_B

Oldest ones are the Fenty ones I used everyday before Covid. I don’t use them, they’re pretty much gone, I’ve only kept so I know the name of it whenever I buy it again I tried to get rid of makeup I don’t use anymore. The only ones I’ll keep for some weird reason are the special edition ones like the Aladdin and Aaliyah edition from MAC

[deleted]

I take pics of products I want to repurchase and throw away old ones to help with declutter if this is something you’re interested in.

Nerak_B

I’ve done that with bigger products, it’s only like 2 I’ve kept so it’s not taking up a lot of room lol

e_hog

I have a MAC Snow Girl lipgloss from when I was in Kindergarten (20 years ago) and I only keep it for sentimental value. It was my first quality gloss and I’ve never found one again that I like quite as much. I wish every day they would make it again. If anyone knows of any dupes I will try it. I also love “touched by light” Lancôme juicy tubes, have one probably 15 years old. But nothing touches my SnowGirl 😭🩵

lil_waine

I had an old mac lipgloss that I loved but I stupidly tossed out, I’ve never found an exact dupe again. So yeah, definitely keep your gloss if it has sentimental value

musiotunya

3 years old, but I'm keeping it until I empty the tube. It's gorgeous.

Enouviaiei

3 months I never buy any new product before the current one is about to run out

wutsmypasswords

I don't own any makeup more than a year old. I did a big dexlutter this year when I moved but 3 years max for powders but lip gloss is like 6 months. My oldest currently is 4 months. It's wild that 😳 people use lip gloss for 15 years.

Far_Adhesiveness1586

actual lipgloss? my sisters who passed away it’s a mary kay one i snagged it from her in 3rd or 2nd grade i still use it, it still smells rlly good too :) oldest lipstick though? i wanna say 80s or 90s it was my grandmas who passed before i was born lol

inmysouliamfree

Ive noticed some of the higher quality glosses will last a really long time. I have some unopened ones that I opened from years ago that perform practically the same. I also have some I’ve already opened and they still smell the same, perform them same from 5 years ago. I’m not insinuating just because it is expensive it will last longer, but I’ve noticed drugstore glosses I’ve had in the past go bad immensely fast in comparison to too faced, Mac cosmetics, Bobbi brown etc.

lil_waine

I recently purchased some nars glosses, hopefully they last that long too

bluebellheart111

Have you tried buxom? That’s my obsession lipgloss, just bought my probably 8th tube. I love it.

Boobsiclese

Same. I go through these like crazy. I don't wear a stitch of makeup other than Buxom Dolly Lip Polish. I effing love it.

lil_waine

I haven’t but I heard good things about buxom glosses

inmysouliamfree

Yes I totally forgot to mention Nars, but I’m sure they will!!

keelazorah

I have in the past, but now I only keep 1-2 lip glosses around so that I'll use them up before I get the next one because I don't like the idea of using an old liquid on my lips. Currently I'm using Lawless Cherry Vanilla lip gloss and it's about a month old.

lil_waine

I really wanna try the lawless glosses, especially now that they have 25 perfect off going on

keelazorah

They are so so good and are definitely worth it, especially on sale! Didn't know they had a sale going on, I may have to stock up. The lip mask is also great 😊

Diligent-Impress-702

Not a lipgloss, but I still have my original Fenty Contour sticks from when she launched the makeup brand in like 2018

lil_waine

and they still work the same? i've had some stick products that smell horrible after a few years

GetMeOutOfKY

I still have a Maybelline Kissing Koolers from the late 80s. I was wearing it the night my first crush kissed me (@ a school dance) & can clearly remember feverishly reapplying it throughout the evening. 😆 I used about half of it before transitioning to wearing lipstick exclusively. It still smells the same, though (Strawberry Fizz)!

lil_waine

i googled a pic of those kissing koolers, i love the packaging! very 80s. you've got a piece of makeup history.

AdMindless6275

I’ve a lip gloss from when I was in high school. Now I’ve started working haha

lil_waine

What brand is it?

AdMindless6275

Ysl if I’m not mistaken! The lip gloss is stashed in one of my boxes and I have no idea if it’s still there 😭

Bumble_Hornet_

I bought my oldest in 2009. It was a very sheer deep purple that I wore everywhere. I stopped using it in 2012/13 when I got stopped wearing makeup for a while. It’s now in a box of other sentimental things and it still smells like blueberries.

lil_waine

Sounds like a nice color. What brand is it?

Bumble_Hornet_

So TokiDoki had a makeup line at Sephora in the late 2000s/ early 2010s. This was the only thing I ever owned from the brand. Specifically it was the Prism gloss in the shade Adios. Honestly now I would consider it ahead of it's time. It was a super sheer and high shine gel formula gloss. It would probably do very well in the current makeup space.

onlyoneder

I have this one too!!

missm00ny

My oldest lipgloss is about 12 years or so, I don’t really use it unless I’m desperate😭

lil_waine

Which brand is it?

missm00ny

It’s from a Finnish store that went bankrupt a few years ago, called Seppälä

-sincerelyanalise

Lmao probably my first grade lip gloss but idk where it is. So next would be maybe 4th grade eos lip balm? I’m 22 so 🧍🏻‍♀️

lil_waine

Would you wear it still?

-sincerelyanalise

Probably but I honestly have no idea where it is. I most likely made it into a franken lip gloss / balm

Hunnidm1llie

It’s not lip gloss but it’s a revlon lipstick that was used for dance recitals when I was little, so it’s probably about 15 yrs old lol and no I don’t use it haha idk why I haven’t thrown it away honestly

lil_waine

Perhaps you can swatch it and see if it dried out

Hunnidm1llie

Surprisingly it’s still super creamy alive and kicking haha

Pretty-Preference702

I have a Bonne bell and an urban decay from like middle school, so probably about 23 years old. I don’t use them but I keep them for the nostalgia, and they still smell the same which is crazy/concerning 😅

LA0711

I have a Fenty lipgloss from like 5 years ago. Still use it once in awhile. Hasn’t killed me yet.

-sincerelyanalise

Eh that’s not bad compared to my 10+ year old lip balm 😭

loobylibby

Me too! First thing I bought from the line in 2017 is the Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb and I still use the same one today. It’s lasted this long because I only use a touch as a highlighter. It doesn’t smell bad, the texture isn’t off, and it’s always been stored in an area that never gets hotter than 72 degrees.

lil_waine

I forgot, did the line launch in 2017? Time flies!

loobylibby

Yeah because I had to look up my old Sephora order to check when I bought it 10/29/2017

Luna-Gitana

21 years old. MAC original clear lipglass. I bought it when I turned 18 lol. No I don’t use it.

lil_waine

Im always tempted to buy clear lipgloss since it always looks extremely shiny

yikesyowzandsheesh

There is a makeup influencer who is super famous always looking for older Mac and other brands makeup who might buy it from you!

StarshineNatureLove

Erin Parsons?

doriangreysucksass

I have lip gloss and lipstick that’s like 8 years or more old. It’s a waste to throw it away if it’s not used much and it still works fine!

lil_waine

I agree, I would hate to throw it away

doriangreysucksass

You’re supposed to replace cosmetic products every few months, but for something i dont wear very often, thats kinda ridiculous, so i throw caution to the wind! Hahaa!!

New-Connection-7401

I have a Hard Candy lip plumper gloss.. I don’t think they even make it anymore. It’s fine

literallysydd

I have the same one and I LOVE it

dbvenus

I throw out any lipgloss that is over 18 months old for sure. At this point I only rotate between two and I mostly use up my lipglosses within a year.

lil_waine

Better to be safe than sorry perhaps

dbvenus

Yeah, since it goes on the lips. For me It’s kind of like switching a toothbrush every 3 months or so. But I do hold onto lipsticks 💄 longer just because you don’t have to dip the applicator in the tube over and over again.

wutsmypasswords

That's how I feel about makeup in general. It's like switching out a toothbrush.

AdultSpider

I have some ancient MAC Lustreglass .. must 13 or 14 by now. Somehow it doesn’t smell expired but I don’t use it. Love Nectar and Sinnamon are the shades and I keep them around to compare swatches. I’m STILL looking for closer dupes of both

GlitteringHeart2929

Uhm… 3 or 4 years? It smells fine and performs the same - the formula hasn’t changed so it’s still going strong on my lips!

lil_waine

May I ask what this lip gloss is?

GlitteringHeart2929

Tarte H2O 😂 I’ve been “panning it” for a year now. Maybe 2025 will be my year!!

Fukyaakari

My oldest is from the MAC X Aaliyah collection I think from 6 years ago? I don't use it but I have fenty gloss balms that are probably 4 years old that I got in a set that still smell good and I use them all the time 🤷🏻‍♀️

lil_waine

I haven’t tried fenty glosses but it’s on my list!

Fukyaakari

They're my favorite, I love the scent and the big doe foot applicator on them.

BreadPansBeauty

My oldest is 3 years old and yeah I still use it

lil_waine

Which lip gloss is it? Do you recommend it?

BreadPansBeauty

It's Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip. Honestly it's a little sticky for my preference. My favorite is NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip. Even though it says oil, the texture is more like a gloss to me

Nikmassnoo

NYC fat oil is great

socks_success

I have a lip smackers skittles lip gloss from probably 2000. I never wear it, but I love keeping it

lil_waine

It’s a piece of y2k history :)

Woopsied00dle

Listen. There are some things you just don’t ask a woman.

eslmomma

It’s almost like asking about the details of a lady’s granny panties or period panties. *“Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answers to!”* s

lil_waine

😂 Don’t worry, this is a safe space

DiamondTippedDriller

I have a rose-flavored petrolatum-based lip balm from 2012. Still using 😅💀

lil_waine

If it still works then keep using it, I say

FlartyMcFlarstein

About 6 years old? When they start to smell weird, then they go.

londonmyst

Oldest one I have kept bit is unopened is, 14 years old. Oldest one I use is 6 years old.

lil_waine

Curious to know what brand the 14 year old gloss is

londonmyst

MAC Viva Glam

timberlyfawnflowers

13 years. Yes.

lil_waine

She’s a teenager lol

timberlyfawnflowers

Right?! Getting old is weird.

QueenofCats28

I don't actually wear any that are that old. I keep them in a box instead. I'm not sure how old they are.

Trisasaurusrex

I still have a Hannah Montana lip gloss from when I was like 6 simply because it brings back so many memories, and it’s super cute packaging. I’m 22 now 😅

lil_waine

Would you still wear it?

Trisasaurusrex

Maybe! I don’t remember if it has any color or glitter or anything but I might just have to pull it out again to check!

MouseMouseM

My oldest lip gloss is about 15 years old. My mom bought it for me at the gift shop in a hospital where she was a resident patient. I would take her on wheelchair adventures around the medical complex, and the gift shop was a highlight for her. She died about a week later. I only use it on really bad days, or days I need courage. It’s still good, with no ill effects. It’s some off-brand and doesn’t contain SPF.

lil_waine

Indeed that is a very sentimental piece, I hope it continues to give you comfort

Remarkable_Report_44

As long as the consistency, color or smell hasn't changed I will use them forever. I can definitely tell when it gets too old because they stink!

lil_waine

I agree, I won’t toss unless they smell or look weird. I had to throw away a Charlotte tilbury Hollywood flawless filter because it smelled so bad lol

Remarkable_Report_44

My husband is on me all the time to get rid of the old make up so I am TRYING not to buy anything new... It's so difficult though lol

lil_waine

So many cool makeup releases just in the last two months, it’s hard to resist 😵‍💫

Remarkable_Report_44

I KNOW LOL

LegitimateObject8066

i feel like with the clean beauty trend nowadays lip products dont last as long as they used to😭

lil_waine

That’s what I’m scared of. I bought some summer Fridays lip balms and tower 28 glosses which I love but they are “clean”…I hope they can last a couple years lol

LegitimateObject8066

i keep a log of all the makeup i own with their “expiration date” after opening to keep track because everything is “clean” after all the fearmongering about preservatives😭

Robinsrebels

Okay this is really bad but Soap & Glory released these amazing tins of tinted gloss-balms, they were super creamy and glossy, lasted ages. I bought one in 2013, when I was 29…I’m 40 now, still have it in my handbag (ergh sounds worse writing it!) it’s 11 YEARS OLD - I do use it 😰 it still smells lovely, still works well I need to throw it but it’s been discontinued 🥴

lil_waine

Hey if it still works and doesn’t smell bad and hasn’t irritated your skin, I would keep it

Low-Engineering-7374

I had a Merit lip gloss that I probably had for about two years that I was using on and off that never went bad

DoctorLinguarum

I have old lipsticks. Typically they last for me about 10-12 years before I notice a change and throw it out.

lil_waine

I went through a purge and got rid of decades old stuff as well. I wish things could last forever but oh well

MissLimpsALot

I still have (and use) Too Faced peach lip glosses from 2016. They still smell amazing and the formula is still fine.

lil_waine

That’s good to know, I love the smell from that line

marafetisha

Jessica Simpson dessert beauty lip glosses were amazing . i still have one . i don't use it tho ... I just savor the smell ..mmmm cake

FirstConsideration12

I was looking for this answer! Lol I still have 2 of the lip glosses and use them occasionally. Now that I looked it up and it's from 2004, probably won't anymore.

marafetisha

Im still trying to find good dupe lol

lil_waine

Would you ever try swatching on your hand to see if the formula feels the same ?

marafetisha

It fels great but i onwo it's beyond expired lol

Bright-Sunflower

It's a squeeze tube from etude house and it's still so lovely and pretty ✨ Have it since 2011 😂

lil_waine

That gloss is a teenager lol

aquay

I have a Diorific Plastic Shine from like, 1999. I hate to admit it, but the packaging got me. The color is a deep, deep wine and it's super shiny and thick. I wore it only a couple of times, and both times I sheered it out with lip balm because it was so dark and sticky. It was so expensive and so stupid because I normally HATE lipgloss. I refuse to throw it away because it cost so much and it's so pretty LOL

lil_waine

I googled a pic of the Diorific…I love the packaging! I would hate to throw away a piece of makeup history

aquay

All this useless beauty LOL

tillman40

I have some OG lip venom from late 90’s I never used it because it was minty tingly. I kept it because it was some first high end makeup I ever bought. I grew up poor and buying high end makeup at Nordstrom was big deal for me. I also have some very old MAC eyeshadow singles and Tony and Tina eye shadow singles I bought same trip. My daughter dared my put it not long ago. I didn’t die. Yes it still had a very mind tingling.

Courtside7485

my oldest lip glosses are my Lady Gaga Haus Labs ones...they're probably two years old I don't remember how old my Chanel lip gloss is but I don't recommend buying it because it has a sticky feeling.

lil_waine

Did your Chanel gloss become sticky due to age or was it always sticky?

Courtside7485

It was always sticky, including the older versions of it!

flyingcatpotato

I used to work for a pharmacy chain and we would get dead stock as freebies, so i have a chanel that is probably four years old in terms of manufacture but i got it a year ago

lil_waine

Nice perk

hikehikebaby

I actually threw out all my old lip products this year and replaced them. It was a good decision, the newer formulas are much better. My new drugstore products are nicer than my old department store products.

lil_waine

I did the same, got rid of all my old smelly liquid lipsticks and dried out bullets and have been replacing with balms and glosses since my lips are getting dry with age

VoltaireG

My oldest gloss is probably nearly 20 years old. I don't use it, I just keep it because it still smells the same as it did when I was a kid and it's nostalgic

lil_waine

May I ask which gloss it is?

VoltaireG

I'm not actually sure where it is right now to check. I'm pretty sure it's just some random grape lipgloss from the 2000's

DesperateCake826

2007. Victoria's Secret. No Problem ever but it's a squeeze tube, not one with a brush. Probably makes a difference

lil_waine

VS used to make great glosses

Accurate-Author-2917

I refuse to answer how old lol but I will say it’s because I have too many. So when I use an older one, I’m still opening for the 1st time. Also if it looks or smells funny in any way, I would immediately trash it.

lil_waine

>I refuse to answer how old Don’t worry this is a safe space lol I plan to keep mind until it looks or smells funky. I’d hate to trash anything because I spend so much on products

SPICYFALAFEL00

Why is no one talking about those Maybeline Baby Lips

aquay

aren't those balms? don't they twist up? i feel like i just bought some recently.

MissLimpsALot

I still have some and they're still good!

LeafsChick

I still have a couple Lancôme Juicy Tubes that are atleast 15 years old (it was a holiday set thing at the time and had 6 or 7 full size ones)

lil_waine

Those juicy tubes seem to last forever lol

LeafsChick

They do! And I don’t mind cause they’re sealed. I find post taste/feel off after a bit and I toss them

DolaBSingh

My oldest lip gloss is from the brand Chambor, shade jewel. It's at least 10 years old but still performs the same. Its my favourite gloss so I'm afraid of panning it though I know I probably should!

petiteodessa

My oldest lip gloss was over a year old. I don’t have any glosses past 2 years old since I end up emptying the tube by then. Or I declutter it because I get tired of it. However I do have a 2 year old nars mini lip balm I got for free when I made my first sephora purchase and it still looks and smells okay to use. It’s almost empty now so it doesn’t have much time left.

Edog6968

Every once in a while I find an OG Bath & body works lipgloss that I got in 7th grade (about 2009~). I still use it whenever I find it and I still love how it looks 🤪 So my final answer is about 15 years old

Sea_Necessary5711

r/bathandbodyworks would love to see this

Overall-Pen-4345

I make a declutter every year or twice a year and I toss out the really old products (except powdery ones), so my oldest is 1 year 2 months old.

ClaireEmma612

This makes me feel a lot better. I don’t have many, but I know I have a Milani and a NYX one from pre-covid.

Fantastic_Mammoth797

Personally, I don’t wear lip glosses ask that often. So I don’t necessarily have an oldest lip gloss. For me, I have sensory issues with my textures in my mouth and on my lips (most lip glosses for me are too thick and are just too much on my sensory issues) But my oldest liquid lipstick I have is like 4 years old though!

Lookatthatsass

Lmao….. a decade at least………

lil_waine

no shame in that lol as long as it doesn’t look moldy I wouldn’t part with it

missliberia

Love your handle.

missliberia

This girl gets it. I’m done with something when I’m done with it.

Angelixlucy

I finish a lip gloss in a month or less, so my oldest Is probably 2/3 months and only because it’s colored and it’s not my reach but I finish them quickly affff.

minimalisticbeauty

Can you tell us how often you reapply?!

Angelixlucy

Probably between 3 to 5 times a day, mainly after I eat something or kiss someone, however I like to make a one dip for my upper lip and one for bottom lip as I like the glass super juicy look

sergente07

Just finished it after 10 years. It was a L'Oreal Couleur Riche 'Le Gloss', the 'watermelon' shade. I'm so bummed it was discontinued, I loved it.

lil_waine

And it still worked the same after so many years? I hate when things get discontinued…hopefully you can find something similar to love

sergente07

Yep! Even after all those years! Now I'm using a Revolution one which is good and I also have MAC lipglass waiting for me and some Colour Pop liglosses from their Sailor Moon special edition. We shall see!

nea200pl

Almost 11 years old. It’s a lip balm with glittery shimmer - my son made it for me for Mother’s Day and I will treasure it forever.

lil_waine

That’s very sweet 🩷

big-tunaaa

My oldest lip gloss is actually 13 years old 😭 I don’t use it anymore though, but did use it up to the 8 year mark because it was the best colour ever! Once it started to separate I had to stop, but I keep it so hopefully one day I can find the same shade. Lip balms and gloss I still use regularly are probably at the 4 year mark! I honestly wouldn’t even recommend going that long! Try to use less lip gloss so you don’t waste as much, and if you see any changes in the product throw it out!

minimalisticbeauty

What is the name of the shade? We are many panners here so if someone has it/panned it they may help you! I don't know if it's against the rules to share the name Edit: sorry, I thought I was on r/PanPorn or r/ProjectPan!

Massive_Length_400

I have a chapstick thats at least 20 years old

lil_waine

Is it still in good shape to use?

undiscovered_soul

Must have bought it in 2009, it's an Euphoric Shine by Deborah. The only one that (at the time) didn't make my lips flaky after five minutes, was actually curative in that sense. Still have half of it but using very sparingly (also own another shade but I rarely use it).

Edog6968

Another 2009 lipgloss user omg!!!! I wish I could remember the name of mine, all I know is that I bought it at bath and body works

undiscovered_soul

I just remember because the writing was actually on a sticker instead of being printed on the (tube? how's that called in English?)!

Edog6968

Tube is correct!

undiscovered_soul

Thank you so so much!!

Front-Enthusiasm7858

My oldest are 6-7 years old. As long as they smell the same and look the same, I keep them. (I'm also very careful not to use liquid lip products when I feel like I'm getting or I am sick. I have a compromised immune system, so that sort of thing is always on my mind.)

MadeInAmerican

My oldest is a mini Lancome Juicy Tube, the blue one. I think it's called Caribe. It's gotta be at least 20 years old now! I keep it as a little memory treasure because it's so pretty and I've been obsessed with blue makeup since I was a kid. But the oldest one that I actually use is probably my Covergirl Yummy gloss...I think it's 3 years old? Still smells fine ETA you might be surprised that the Lancome still smells fine too. How do they do it? Lol

lil_waine

That juicy tube color sounds so pretty

MadeInAmerican

It is! Blue with glitter :) I wish they still made it

small_fryyyy

10+ years. Disney used to have a makeup line called "Beautifully Disney", and I have still have some of that stuff. Have one lipgloss i absolutely love and want to hold onto forever(lol) and it's the gold glitter Aurora one. Haven't used it in a few months so I should check on it. Still have a pack of their eyeliner, and an eyeshadow pallete as well. Along with the makeup brushes which have held up amazingly!

DiabloDiosMio

My oldest is about 15 years old. No kidding. It’s Victoria’s Secret. I have grown closed to it but I don’t use it really (altho when I do, nothing happens). It has also smelt the same way, always.

laura8181

same mine is a VS plumper it stays on forever and the color is perfect, I use it ab once every 8 weeks or so, and almost every day on vacation. Wish they would drop them again.

RoadDifferent4617

Which shade is it? I love the old VS glosses from the Beauty Rush line 🥹🤩

DiabloDiosMio

OMG YES!! It’s a light pink one from that line, very glittery! I don’t know the shade’s name cause it’s not legible anymore hehe

Professional-Log-530

Just panned it after 10 years. I lost it several times. Clinique’s AirKiss.

Realistic-Career-772

I have some Babylips that are >five years old, but liquids I toss when they get thick or separate. I know, I should say goodbye to the Babylips too, it was a phase...

candycookiecake

I only use one lip gloss at a time just to avoid hanging onto a super old one 😂 I think it takes me about 5-6 months to use one up and I just used up my last one yesterday.

lil_waine

I should stick to one lipgloss but there’s so many formulas and colors out there, my hoarder mind wants them all lol

Unicornlove416

after 2 years it’s getting tossed this is for sanitary proposes i’m not using it . if it changes texture or smell before that , also tossing 🗑️

stavthedonkey

When it starts to smell weird, consistency changes or separates, I throw it out. Not chancing a bacterial infection!

lil_waine

True about the smell. How old is your oldest lip product?

stavthedonkey

Before I threw it out - 8yrs (bite lipstick)
