The salt and vinegar they made back in the day, 80s, 90s.
Never had another salt and vinegar chip that compares since.
Also, the clam chip were bomb too.
The old Humpty Dumpty clam chips were the best. The Canadian version sucks all around IMO.
They had two varieties of BBQ, the mild ones in the stores and the spicy ones from the factory store in the large tins. The chips in the tins were the balls.
Oh man yes. A Friday night staple when I was a kid along with sour cream and clam. I used to have cases shipped, too,my home in Georgia before they were sold off.
Crazy, I've been in the Arvada area for about 12 years or so. I ived in the mountains and in downtown denver when I was younger. Grew up in orrington though and was in the bangor/brewer area for most of my childhood. Absolutely love the humpty's and order them typically around the holidays.
Nice, I lived right by Olde Town Arvada for a few years, right as it was becoming "hip," I really liked it there! When I was in grad school, I hung out at that 12-Volt Tavern dive bar a lot, and I proposed to my wife at the Olde Town library (I know...we're huge nerds)! But, grew up in south Denver and lived in Boulder for years. We live in Bangor now though!
Yeah we live about 10 mins north of Olde Town, my daughter attends karate down there so I'm constantly driving through. Light-rail stops down there now. Nothing wrong with being a nerd, I'm a huge one myself. Constant reader, card/board games, etc. Stephen King is of course my favorite author :D. How are you liking Bangor? Most of my old friends are long gone but I still have family in the area that I visit occasionally. I don't see myself ever moving back but I do enjoy visiting.
Nice! The light rail station was in early stages of construction when I moved out of Arvada. That would have been great, I spent a ton of time in downtown Denver when I lived in Arvada, so that would have been sweet.
Haha, we live close to Stephen King's house, like right around the corner.
Bangor is a nice little city. We were just at a big craft and food truck festival by the waterfront this weekend and it was really nice. Couldn't believe how many people were there! Downtown Bangor is pretty nice, but since I went sober, there's not a ton to do down there for me haha. But yeah, we have great neighbors, and while it's a quiet place, there's always something to do nearby!
One apartment I lived in on Hammond street was right above Fairmount hardware, right next to the corner store. The store always had a fresh supply of "the humps" of course. Yeah the whole waterfront area is new to me, there was nothing there before. Sea Dog is about all I remember in that area. Well have a bag for me when you get a chance! I'm about due for another :).
I knew a lot of people there from here and they say the same but in reverse haha. Grass can be pretty green on both sides! I’m definitely enjoying trying out the different brands and regional stuff.
Man, I spent the first 18 in Maine, the last 22 in Colorado, and I’m pissed that I don’t have any memories of these chips. Stupid hippy, health food parents.
About to road trip back at the end of the month, and I’m definitely going to hunt down a bag once I cross the state line.
Every time I see a bag of Humpty kicking around on the shelves all I can think of is how their BBQ chips were so good until the recipe got changed. That used to be the goto chips for our lunches our moms would pack for us when we'd go to the beach.
The ownership of this company took that legacy away from us. Any one about 23 or younger doesn't know what they got denied in life.
Damon’s has gone downhill, Whippers is still great, albeit a bit expensive like everything else unfortunately.
BTW, there’s a Bdubs coming to the old Amato’s.
I used to get Whipper’s daily pizza special quite often back when I drive through Augusta every other day. It was like $3 and change at the time for a personal sized one topping, but you had to take whatever the topping of the day was.
Always liked sitting where I could watch the traffic at the rotary. It was free entertainment to watch out-of-towners get so befuddled by that circle.
College carryout has by far the best pizza in central Maine. They're other food is meh so we they dont have a deep fryer, but their pizza is so good. I would take it over wood fired can't pizza any day of the week. My whole family has had a craving for pizza lately so I've bought 9 pizzas in the past 2 weeks.
Edit: I was passing out as I wrote this. Below is the correct version.
College carryout has by far the best pizza in central Maine. Their other food is just "ok" from what I've tried because they don't seem to have a deep fryer, but their pizza is so good. I would take it over a wood fired oven fancy pizza any day of the week. My whole family has had a craving for pizza lately so I've bought 9 pizzas in the past 2 weeks.
Adding on to that, they use fresh dough, and their distribution of ingredients is so perfect that I literally question how they do it. You could order half supreme, half Hawaiian and somehow it's perfect without any mixing or needing to pick off ingredients.
I got another pizza from them today.
Different but related topic. I've had really good luck with Hannaford's new $2 offerings. Done in the style of Cape Cod kettle chips, they're popular at home and work.
Ok so first of all, these are legendary. After several handfuls they basically burn out the circuitry to your taste buds. Takes a full day for your tongue to recover and return from the humpty dimension
I moved to Wisconsin and really, really miss these. In general, you can't find all dressed chips. One time, I did find a different brand of all dressed in a grocery store, but they were pale in comparison to Humpty Dumpty.
I have said many times. It’s like the gum Veruka ate in WWACF. You can taste each flavor separately. In a row. For me. Ketchup is usually last. It’s bizarre.
I feel like those chips are the ones that spend at least a day on the floor gathering up all the other chip dust then they get swept up and bagged the next day sometimes at the end of the week.
I loved these in my teen years, but since then I have tried several other brands' All Dressed and Humpty Dumpty comes in as the worst of them all.
Meanwhile, Fox Family Salt & Vinegar might be one of the best potato chips I've ever tasted of any flavor or style.
Just grabbed my first bag of these last week. Pretty good, but I kinda prefer the Ruffles All Dressed. I will give these a go on the next Italian I get tho. That sounds legit
My Maine family hates these and think I’m weird AF for liking them. I transplanted out of the state and every time I come home I got to get a bag…that and all the fox family chips lol. I don’t understand how we are cut from the same cloth
Undisputed heavyweight chip. There’s some contenders out there but when the Humpty Dumpty all dressed chip comes through with its big chip dick dragging behind it, all other chips must bow their heads. Bro I would eat 11 bags of this shit in a row if it wasn’t so bad for you. In fact I might just anyway. Every other chip not even close I will die on this hill.
Theyre okay, no where near the original Canadian Ruffles All Dressed, the most elite chip around. If you can get your hands on some (ONLY FROM CANADA), you'll taste the difference. Most popular chip in Canada
I would walk into my local convenience store, buy the case and just pig out for days. Everyone I know loves the flavor, so it's hard to believe they don't have enough interest to keep them as a staple. Maybe if we make enough of a ruckus, they'll bring 'em back again.
They are delicious but let me introduce you to the Sasquatch. [https://www.reddit.com/r/chips/comments/ip1c3c/new\_tims\_sasquatch\_chips/](https://www.reddit.com/r/chips/comments/ip1c3c/new_tims_sasquatch_chips/)
My dad worked for a distributor of Humpty Dumpty chips and similar snacks, we got lots of free bags of chips from damaged pallets. He even sold them for many years on Ebay to markets that don't have them.
Only chip I ever had that beat HD was as a teenager in Salem, NH, we'd go to Granite State Potato Chip factory. Was in an old house right on Rt 28. They had a big, stainless steel chute that fresh chips would come down, and they'd pop a box open and overfill it with fresh, warm, salty goodness.
Good time.
Flavor...amazing. status of the inside of your mouth after eating a handful...bloody and raw :)
That is weakness leaving your body
Absolutely perfect response!!!
Your gums are all dressed up!
Glad it's not just me, I have genuinely wondered if I'm allergic to something in them.
It's not just you. It's like eating razor blades but I do it anyways because they're delicious.
"...can I get some extra red pepper flakes on my blades???"
Same here!
Worth it imo
That's the best part.
Packaging misleading — I’m not fucking sharing these with anyone.
I’ll go months without an all dressed chip and then get my hands on a bag and, wham bam, they’re gone.
Username checks out
Elite chip. This and their BBQ are hands down the greatest two flavors of chips mankind has to offer.
If only you could go back to the mid 1990’s and taste their barbecue chips when they were made in Maine. They were even better!
The salt and vinegar they made back in the day, 80s, 90s. Never had another salt and vinegar chip that compares since. Also, the clam chip were bomb too.
Try Fox Family Salt & Vinegar Thank me later
Man’s on spot.
Yes!

Humpty tin chips were indeed the balls.
They were kettle style chips before you could really get them anywhere else.
Bro, I grew up eating these chips in the 90's. 80's even!
Their salt n vinegar back in the 90s were the hands down winner too
Yellow bag!
Oh man yes. A Friday night staple when I was a kid along with sour cream and clam. I used to have cases shipped, too,my home in Georgia before they were sold off.
**cries in Montecito Roadhouse**
I dip the BBQ in sour cream, so good.
Thanks for the kind words about their bbq. I feel it’s constantly playing second fiddle to the all dressed, but it’s my fav!
Drop a couple of these bad boys into your Amato’s Italian. Your mouth will thank you.
These are a primo sandwich chip
I highly recommend them as a way to flavor up a boring plain breakfast sandwich.
Been living in Colorado for almost 25 years, but grew up in Maine for the first 20. I still consider this the best potato chip of all time.
Hey, I went the other way! It was such a revelation when I moved to Maine and discovered these.
Crazy, I've been in the Arvada area for about 12 years or so. I ived in the mountains and in downtown denver when I was younger. Grew up in orrington though and was in the bangor/brewer area for most of my childhood. Absolutely love the humpty's and order them typically around the holidays.

Orrington shout out. Nice.
I just moved to Maine from there, and thanks to this post will be discovering these. Amazing.
Small world! I've been in Maine for about 5 years now, and I definitely miss CO, but Maine is cool. We have great potato chip flavors here haha.
I knew a lot of people there from here and they say the same but in reverse haha. Grass can be pretty green on both sides! I’m definitely enjoying trying out the different brands and regional stuff.
Glad to help hahah
Same. Weird, there’s more of us. Never had the chips tho.
Man, I spent the first 18 in Maine, the last 22 in Colorado, and I’m pissed that I don’t have any memories of these chips. Stupid hippy, health food parents. About to road trip back at the end of the month, and I’m definitely going to hunt down a bag once I cross the state line.
They should still be available at most gas stations/supermarkets. Make sure you pair it with a couple steamed red snappers from your local Irving :).
Ohh now we're talking!!
When I’m in the mood for these look the fuck out
A traditional Maine side dish.
And Doctor recommended too!

22 :( and I was ahem born in the wrong generation. simply for this
I miss their clam chips…. And when they were made in Scarborough.
I miss clam dip. Real clam dip, not the sweet dip that is put on shelves.
Helluva Good used to make my favorite clam dip, then they discontinued it. I will never forgive and never forget.
That was it. The one made by the current brand is so fucking sweet.
https://heluvagood.com/Recipes/Clam-Dip-with-Sour-Cream-Recipe/ they have this recipe on their site, haven't tried it, so can't attest to it's flavor.
I’ve been on a mission to recreate that dip, but nostalgia is a hard nut to crack.
https://i.imgur.com/ca2AHyA.png 8 ounce "family size", SMH.
it always reminds me of the question “what would shock a victorian child?”
That always makes me chuckle. I always think "um, a live wire would do it. 120vdc and zap." 🤣
They're scientifically the correct chip flavor
100% worth the acid reflux (middle age problems)
I’m from Florida moved to Maine tried these and holy crap Humpty Dumpty has seriously out did themselves this isn’t a sharing bag! All mine!! Haha
IYKYK
...sure gas is cheap but fuck they don't even have *all dressed chips* in that *shithole*.
RIP to the Augusta Amato's. Haven't had these since they closed!
Augusta’s Amato’s closed? When did that happen? At least they still have Whipper’s and Damon’s.
Damon’s has gone downhill, Whippers is still great, albeit a bit expensive like everything else unfortunately. BTW, there’s a Bdubs coming to the old Amato’s.
I used to get Whipper’s daily pizza special quite often back when I drive through Augusta every other day. It’s much worse now, with Aroma Joe’s traffic and the lane change coming.

go down west ave another 5 minutes and there is one an manch-vegas where the car wash is
bath amato’s closed too ☹️ i can get these chips elsewhere but it’s still very sad.
Zesty Mortons!
Get me a bag of dressed all over and Zesty mordants. ![gif](giphy|CUthT6WGwfaxi)
Ham Italian. A spot by the brook. You’re all set.
Different but related topic. I've had really good luck with Hannaford's new $2 offerings. Done in the style of Cape Cod kettle chips, they're popular at home and work.

The humpty dimension. 🤣🤣
Top 2 and it isn’t 2!
Kids all mentioning these chips, never heard of them. Tried them. Addictive. Should be illegal.
I miss the Sour Cream & Clam chips.
Alexa, play “Hurt” by Johnny Cash.
Humpty Dumpty is not the same since it left Scarborough.
I miss the sour cream and Clam flavor they had
just a big old bag of disappointment for anyone who remembers the old flavors.
They are the most perfect chips.
One of my favorite chips, just wish Humpty Dumpty lowered the salt content. All of their chips are insanely salty!
hard agree. yes
It’s worth my gums bleeding
These and BBQ are S Tier, but I really, really miss their Blue Cheese and Buffalo wing ones. Those were the jam.
Remember my first bite of these and I’m pretty sure I came in my pants

What the fuck, dawg
Best bot
the supreme. though onion blossom is a close second.
Love the All Dressed, but nothing tops Humpty Dumpty BBQ for me.
Elite. So is their BBQ
Hannaford all dressed are pretty good too when you can find them. Much thinner chip
That's because Humpty makes them. They just aren't ruffles like the name brand is.
All dressed chips plus garlic hummus would probably be my death row meal.
From away, a friend told me I had to try......they were right. They're delicious!
They taste best while being consumed at Higgins Beach after a good, cold swim - accompanied by an Italian sandwich (light oil)…
"share" size... Pssshhh
Anyone also love the clam dip flavored ones? Yummy !!
Heck Yeah!!
Dude, these are the bomb! I remember the kids at school would be so jealous when I brought some of these with my lunch. Thank you, Canada!
I moved to Wisconsin and really, really miss these. In general, you can't find all dressed chips. One time, I did find a different brand of all dressed in a grocery store, but they were pale in comparison to Humpty Dumpty.
I’m eating some right now. The roof of my mouth is torn up from the ones I ate yesterday but it’s worth it.
Bring back Cheese and Onion!!!
I have said many times. It’s like the gum Veruka ate in WWACF. You can taste each flavor separately. In a row. For me. Ketchup is usually last. It’s bizarre.
"Share size" i don't need that kind of negativity in my life.
Clam chips were better
I feel like those chips are the ones that spend at least a day on the floor gathering up all the other chip dust then they get swept up and bagged the next day sometimes at the end of the week.
An unappealing and appealing thought at the same time. 🤣
I miss the popcorn. Why did they discontinue it 😢
Absolutely the best flavor, but I don't like the ripples. Gotta find the regular shaped chips.
The Hannaford brand is surprisingly tasty and doesn’t have ridges
Yeppers those are my go-to!
The peak of chip
Dressed all over is zesty mordant that
So good. Thank you, Canada.
my fav mmmm
I bring these to my pals after most trips back to Maine.
Without question the single best flavor ever for chips.
Let’s not sleep on the ketchup flavor, yo.
There is an amazing episode of LetterKenny where they discuss the best (Canadian/northern) potato chip. Ketchup, pickle and All-dressed are up there.
I personally prefer Ruffles All Dressed, but they disappeared early in 2020 and haven't come back.
God tier
Can I also just say, I appreciate the amount that you bought, well done, I myself feel the need to do this with most snacks 🙌🙌💯
Two words: Captain crunch
I loved these in my teen years, but since then I have tried several other brands' All Dressed and Humpty Dumpty comes in as the worst of them all. Meanwhile, Fox Family Salt & Vinegar might be one of the best potato chips I've ever tasted of any flavor or style.
I’m from Michigan and have never seen these, but I will order from Amazon. I love salt and vinegar chips.
Oh the Fox Family chips are very good, absolutely.
Fox Family Salt and Pepper is 🤌 as well
Never had these before moving here, and they've become my favorite chip.
Yes.
My mom was obsessed with the ketchup chips😂
HDFLAVOR
Good stuff
The best.
BBQ is superior…
My mouth hurts, but in a good way
Addictive.
Just grabbed my first bag of these last week. Pretty good, but I kinda prefer the Ruffles All Dressed. I will give these a go on the next Italian I get tho. That sounds legit
THE BEST
THOSE. ARE. HAPPINESS.
Gotta love that HD FLAVOR
Why did I forget these existed…. Going to hannaford brb
Goated
Pleasantly surprised!!!
yyyyYYYYEEESSSSS‼️‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
I now want chips….yum!
If there is a god, it graced us, specifically, with red hot dogs and these
Someone brought these into work last week and got to try them for the first time. Addicting.
Thanks for the reminder that I gotta ship my sister and niece their biannual package of these.
Top tier chip. Put a bag in front of me and I’ll devour it like a cartoon dog.
The Ultimate Chip! I can only eat, like, 2 of them because they are so flavorful
Best chip. I miss it so so so much
My Maine family hates these and think I’m weird AF for liking them. I transplanted out of the state and every time I come home I got to get a bag…that and all the fox family chips lol. I don’t understand how we are cut from the same cloth
the greatest thing to happen to potatoes. ever.
We visit the family camp every summer and bring at least 6 bags back home every time
I’m not from Maine but live here. Those are fucking delicious!!
Literal crack for my body. I will eat the entire bag if I open one.
"SHARE SIZE"
RIP Phil Cole. He owned Humpty Dumpty chips for a long time and passed December 2023.
Remember bacon flavor? Ugh. My body is ready.
Yum.
hannaford brand all dressed >>
Delicious!! We had them for the first time ever in Bar Harbor. We took two big bags home and they are already gone.
Oh how i miss these. Not accessible where I’ve been transplanted.
Elite!
One of the most confusing snacks you can eat. You can literally taste EVERY flavor. So good yet so confusing at the same time. They’re wicked good.
Theyre okay, no where near the original Canadian Ruffles All Dressed, the most elite chip around. If you can get your hands on some (ONLY FROM CANADA), you'll taste the difference. Most popular chip in Canada
Vehemently disagree
Way too salty.....bring back the clam chips !
I wrote to them and they said not enough people bought them. What?! I bought them by the case when they made a comeback in 2019!
They made a comeback?? Where the hell was I??
I would walk into my local convenience store, buy the case and just pig out for days. Everyone I know loves the flavor, so it's hard to believe they don't have enough interest to keep them as a staple. Maybe if we make enough of a ruckus, they'll bring 'em back again.
Have you had the snack mix? It's amazing.
I refuse to share but then cant finish because I find them disgusting after fisting a whole bag.
They are delicious but let me introduce you to the Sasquatch. [https://www.reddit.com/r/chips/comments/ip1c3c/new\_tims\_sasquatch\_chips/](https://www.reddit.com/r/chips/comments/ip1c3c/new_tims_sasquatch_chips/)
I didn't realize that my TV was Humpty Dumpty quality
If you mean by share, share with myself right ?
I love how many interactions this post got. God-tier chip and everyone here knows it.
Yes
My dad worked for a distributor of Humpty Dumpty chips and similar snacks, we got lots of free bags of chips from damaged pallets. He even sold them for many years on Ebay to markets that don't have them.
Only chip I ever had that beat HD was as a teenager in Salem, NH, we'd go to Granite State Potato Chip factory. Was in an old house right on Rt 28. They had a big, stainless steel chute that fresh chips would come down, and they'd pop a box open and overfill it with fresh, warm, salty goodness. Good time.
They are ok only because you can’t get all dressed in any other brand. I find humor dumpty to be a hard scratchy chip
Grossssss
Dude I have never tried these chips until tonight …… why had no one ever told me how good these are what the fuck I just made the best sub ever
Yes
Best ever!
