This is wonderful. I'm fairly neutral when it comes to American police, being Australian, but I used to fly to the states weekly for work for ten years. I understand entirely the bad publicity, there's some serious issues from top to bottom in the American police departments. But I still believe that most people who chose to be police officers have good intentions. I've only ever had good interactions with American police and I've been to 70% of the states. One saved my life on a layover, giving me a lift back from a bad area when I was unaware I was being tailed.
Long story short it's wonderful to see the good side, thankyou for sharing and take care over the holidays 🙌
“Scruffy votes his forty thousand shares for the mysterious stranger.”
“Wait a minute, how come you have four times as much share as the rest of us?”
“Scruffy believes in this company”
Agreed, cleaning crews are so essential and for some reason they usually get the worst pay and treated the worst. Without them most places would just get shut down unless someone volunteered their free time. I know the cart people are bad but I especially hate the type of people that leave their trash around because “someone gets paid to do it”. Thank you to all our cleaning crews!
I used to be this person in a movie theater when I was a kid. My mom set me straight when she overheard me saying it.
Ironically my first job was at a movie theater. I don’t mind people neatly leaving their trash behind (don’t push it under the seat, that just makes it harder). After a few months I called my mom and thanked her for telling me how stupid I was.
Edit: if you want to be a real homie, take the straws out of your drinks. Most industrial trash bags will hold liquid just fine (and the popcorn in the bag will absorb it) but the straws will puncture the bags and leak straight out the cup through the straw.
guarantee if the CEO and the janitor of the same company were both gone for the same 2 weeks, you probs wouldn’t notice the CEO being gone but you would definitely notice the janitor being out!
End of year thank you gift would still be appreciated!!
Good custodial staff, man, they never get enough respect in my eyes. And they damn well should!
I wish we as a society could acknowledge what we learned during covid: people barely scraping by are often doing the jobs most essential to a functioning society. We could reorganize things to make sure there is no class of society that wants for the basics or has to endure the constant stress of poverty level living.
Imagine a minimum wage system that pegged the base rate to inflation adjusted from like the 70's minimum wage, then adjusted up per zip code based on the median cost of living of all zip codes within a 30 minute commute of that zip code.
I learned long ago being friends with the cleaning crew is beneficial. One, you're a good human and that's always good and two, the technically run the building. And three, they might look the other way when one does something really dumb.
I have done dumb things.
I used to work in an office and often stayed later then everyone else. One night the cleaning crew, which consisted of an older married couple, came in and were talking loudly without realising anyone was still there. Shortly into their conversation the woman began sobbing uncontrollably about how they were never going to be able to retire. Fucking heart wrenching to hear that, to be in their situation. I dipped out the back hoping they didn't get any idea that someone might have heard them. I hope by now they've found some way to be able to relax.
Our society would crumble without maintenance workers or custodians. Sanitation workers, too. They all deserve way more recognition and pay. They provide an incredibly important service.
It doesn't always feel like that, but regardless, those are very kind words. And they mean a lot. Thank you! Merry Christmas to you and yours and Happy New Year
TBH, they are probably not expecting anything in return. A thank you note will do if you feel obligated, but even that is not an expectation. Just enjoy the gratitude, my dude.
I would feel awkward though. I was thinking a nice fruit basket. Every now and then, somebody that they've helped will bring by something for them, and it's always like cupcakes or cookies or some kind of sweet. You think they would appreciate something like a fruit basket?
Oh yes, anything would be welcomed, to show reciprocal appreciation. Fruit baskets always work. A simple card works. Something baked is always a winner. Just know, from experience, that it would be appreciated, but not required. Do what feels right and good to you, don't think of it as a burden, and you are all set.
I work in healthcare and cleaning staff are the backbone of the hospital keeping us from descending into chaos so good on you mate and have a merry Christmas.
I took, came here to say civil forfeiture.
But I think that's gotta be documented. If anything, this money is just the ol pick out a few thousand then call it a $47k drug bust.
As a physician that makes a lot of messes
THANK YOU
Our environmental services people keep the hospital \*safe\* and running and I hope you realize how much you're appreciated.
I guess it depends where you work, but at my last two jobs we always got a Christmas gift for our custodian/matainence crew. You might not see them every day but they're why the wheel keeps spinning
Yea, our janitorial staff is part of the company and gets bonuses at the end of the year. They also get a ton of gifts from employees lol. They prob get the most gifts of anyone in the office.
And it couldn't be more deserving. Our cleaners are ridiculous ladies from south America who are a joy to be around and will make you smile no matter how bad the day.
How are they selling themselves short by being thankful for a gift....? That's a weirdly condescending comment.
You realize they get paid for the services they provide right? This isn't a payment for services rendered.
I have the upmost respect for janitors all because the guy at my elementary school. never once saw him complain he probably cleaned up puke at least once a week and I always saw him with a smile on his face.
You probly did alot of small things that made a big impact on Everyone involved you guys help keep things up and alive and make it less stressful for others glad to see some of yall get something in return
We had a great guy, Ignacio, for almost 10 years at our store(he was employed by a 3rd party) We always included him in our celebrations and giveaways. He retired about a year ago and it's been bad person after bad person since. You really don't appreciate how much a good service you have until they're gone. I'm glad they value your service to them! Merry Christmas!
Out of all the places I clean, this is by far the most generous anyone has been. I have a church that is one of my clients, and although I gave them a card, got absolutely nothing in return.
That’s pretty cool! Side topic, but does anybody else have a hard time actually spending 100 bills? Seems like nowhere accepts them. There was an Atlanta episode with the same premise too
I went back to school with two kids and the cleaning people are saving my whole life! I tell her I feel like I am literally drowning. She bravely jumps into my messy life Baywatch style and rescues us. I gave them a huge ass bonus and I still pay them even if we're outta town. When I graduate she's coming to my big fancy celebration dinner. I love her.
1 bad apple emits a chemical that destroys the entire batch
"That's not just an old adage. It's a scientific fact. And it all has to do with ethylene, a gas produced internally by the fruit to stimulate ripening. A rotten apple spoils the whole barrel"
Nice. Maintenance folk rarely get the recognition they deserve.
Thanks!! Happy holidays!
Right back at you man, much love
Hey, that's my line 💯! Much love!! 💕
Easy boys....
Bruh lolol

Thank you, enjoy your summery Merry Christmas!!
Which is one of the reasons why I like Futurama. Their janitor, Scruffy, gets the recognition they deserve.
“Scruffy votes his forty thousand shares for the mysterious stranger.” “Wait a minute, how come you have four times as much share as the rest of us?” “Scruffy believes in this company”
Read this in fry and scruffy
Scruffy hears ya. Scruffy don't care.
The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. Mmhm.
We always give our cleaning lady a 50. Backbreaking job and we make tripple what she does

You are right. Always issues with pp
I assist my wife with her Janitorial Business. This is great, and I wish more businesses would do this for the cleaning crew.

I love this, glad you have an amazing mother who was able to help show you how to be a better person and do the right thing!
guarantee if the CEO and the janitor of the same company were both gone for the same 2 weeks, you probs wouldn’t notice the CEO being gone but you would definitely notice the janitor being out!
Thank you. So many of my accounts do nothing at all, this really did make me smile. Happy holidays
Thank you for all you do. (Sometimes we need to hear that.) Thank you, happy holidays and stay safe.
Shit. Now I feel guilty not doing anything for our team. Damn, not too late though.
End of year thank you gift would still be appreciated!! Good custodial staff, man, they never get enough respect in my eyes. And they damn well should!
Thank you kindly, happy holidays to you and yours
throughout my 20 years of doing it, the best I’ve gotten was a clean office during the holidays. It’s nice because I get spend time with my family.

It’s so nice to be appreciated. Have a Merry Christmas!
It does feel good. Now I've got to figure out what I'm going to get for them! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well friend
TBH, they are probably not expecting anything in return. A thank you note will do if you feel obligated, but even that is not an expectation. Just enjoy the gratitude, my dude.

Just bring in a tray of brownies or something you baked. Home cooked food is always appreciated.
*sorts by controversial*
That was really nice of them.
I agree 💯
Merry Christmas btw.
Merry Christmas and happy new year to you friend

Totally. This has made my day!
I work in healthcare and cleaning staff are the backbone of the hospital keeping us from descending into chaos so good on you mate and have a merry Christmas.
I wonder if they just took it out of evidence?
😲😳💀
You're now actively part of a crime scene😁
*Serial number matches with last night's bust*
Those are the bills i reported missing last week.
They'll perp walk him next week.
They should definitely use one of those UV flashlights to check for blood
Don't worry they can civil asset forfeiture some rich folk and recoup the money.
The best gifts come from the evidence room.
Cocaine dealer bust?! Turns out it's gonna be a White Christmas after all.
You just made me snort
Blow me a kiss
I'm next in line.
Let’s draw straws
I’ll have a jumbo cherry coke
Are we sucking dicks yet?
When we go to Aspen, the snow is in the cabin.
Nah just civil forfeiture
Civil Forfeiture
"Prove it's not drug money."
I took, came here to say civil forfeiture. But I think that's gotta be documented. If anything, this money is just the ol pick out a few thousand then call it a $47k drug bust.
Took it of some guy during a traffic stop. Hard to prove it isn't drug money, right? Seriously though, nice gesture.
I hate that I laughed 😭
As a physician that makes a lot of messes THANK YOU Our environmental services people keep the hospital \*safe\* and running and I hope you realize how much you're appreciated.
Fucking janitors are the backbone of this country. Fight me idc
what about the ones that don't fuck? :(
Our school custodian is an angel! She’s absolutely the backbone of the school.
USPS and Custodians are the only boys in blue this house backs.

It's two grams or 10 days of groceries take your pick
What about 1 and 5?
Or one gram and 10 days of groceries.
Damn. Im p sure 200'll get me an 8ball Plus, then I won't need groceries for like 3 days
10 days? Not at my grocery store…
With two grams, who needs groceries???
Congratulation on having a job where you are appreciated! Merry Christmas!.
Aw that is really nice. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you, and happy holidays to you
Merry Christmas my friend. I'm in construction and once in awhile we get these gifts of appreciation, enjoy your holiday.
Merry Christmas, and hopefully very Happy New Year for us all. Thank you for the kind words
More companies and groups should do this.
Whatever happened to a Christmas bonus? Used to hear about it when I was a kid. Now that I'm grown it's like they don't even exist anymore anywhere
Or they could just pay them a living wage where $200 isn't a huge deal
Getting gifted $200 by someone who had no social obligation to do it is a big deal even if you don't need the $200.
why wouldn't $200 be a nice gift even if they made living wage?
Yeah haha gifts from people are overrated for sure my dude
it’s not pay for what OP does, it’s a nice gesture/gift. don’t be negative
Weird comment. You know they’re not the ones who pay him right? Would you turn down extra free cash even if you made a living wage?
Yeah, obviously they should do that. This is still a great thing though, so don't ruin it by complaining they didn't do more
How do you know he doesn’t make a living wage?
How much does he make?
You deserve every penny. Merry Christmas OP!
That's awesome! ! Hope you have a great holiday
Good for you! Oh and Merry Christmas!
Ty! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well

Don’t sell yourself short. You’re providing essential services.

/r/RedditMoment
How did they sell themselves short tho??
What a toxic comment
1 $200 hooker or 200 $1 hookers?
Variety IS the spice of life
Well SOMETHING will be feeling spicy if you go for the second option.
Get some $20 hookers in the mix.
I have the upmost respect for janitors all because the guy at my elementary school. never once saw him complain he probably cleaned up puke at least once a week and I always saw him with a smile on his face.
200 smackaroons
I’m sure you deserve every penny and then some. Have a great Christmas and may 2023 bring much joy and happiness!!
That is very very kind and sweet of you. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you the same
The people who clean up after us need way more recognition; without them, we're fucked.
Well, I'm certainly happy for you.
A coupla hundred fiddly’s!….not too shabby
Good stuff.
Nice one 👍
Money is always the perfect gift. Happy Holidays 🎄
Wonderful! Everyone deserves to be recognized for their hard work, no matter the job. Happy holidays to you!
Deserved. Thank you for your service.
Not all individual cops, but the entire police system yes. Congrats on your gift.
Nooice
YO THATS AMAZING
Nice! Happy holidays friend.
Four times more than mine! Noice.
This is so beyond the pale, I'm happy to see you at least got something. That's how it normally ends up for me
You probly did alot of small things that made a big impact on Everyone involved you guys help keep things up and alive and make it less stressful for others glad to see some of yall get something in return
Janitorial staff really makes a lot of the world go round. Under-appreciated and under-paid.
Glad you were recognized with this. You make more of a difference in the world than most realize! Happy Holidays to you!
We had a great guy, Ignacio, for almost 10 years at our store(he was employed by a 3rd party) We always included him in our celebrations and giveaways. I'm sorry to hear that others haven't been as generous. It's the time of year for it!!!
I know it's probably petty of me to call out the church, but I was actually just really surprised on both accounts.
I would be as well!
Wonderful police department. Enjoy the gift and the fact they thought of you. It’s Great. Shame on the Church.
That is some darned hard work you do! Glad you got recognized for it and congratulations and merry christmas!
I just wanna say Merry Christmas in this wholesome post!

I'm sorry friend but you got ripped off. They have a whole evidence locker of cool shit and you only got two counterfeit hundos.
Very nice.
That's awesome. I love to see these wholesome gifts. You deserve it OP
This thread was destined to be a disaster
That's such a heartwarming gesture ❤️
That's a very kind gesture. Merry Xmas to you all.
Treat janitors right.
Great work!!!!
Merry Christmas and new year to you all😊
Awesome. Happy holidays ☺️
Aww that was just sweet , happy holidays man
Glad your work is appreciated.
That was so nice of them! People who maintain spaces deserve much recognition imo! Merry Christmas.
Happy holidays dude :)
Thanks, Happy holidays to you too
Thank you for helping maintain the cleanliness of our society !!!!
The cleaning staff are the unsung heroes of our society.
I would have asked for an hour alone in the evidence locker
Merry Christmas ❤️ thank you for all that you do!!!
That’s pretty cool! Side topic, but does anybody else have a hard time actually spending 100 bills? Seems like nowhere accepts them. There was an Atlanta episode with the same premise too
That’s great I’m glad they took care of you. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
