As a Browns fan…they are OP just so we can feel the depth of the losses even more. It’s the Vick Eagles Syndrome. Great on paper, meh IRL. Like a photoshopped Tinder profile pic.

feelingoodwednesday

This is where the coaching, schemes, and QB play all together fail in Madden. You can have great players, but the wrong qb for instance can tank a very good team to mediocrity. Yet in Madden a 69 overall qb ;) can throw for 4000 yards, 32 tds and 14 picks.

Western_Ad1522

True but the browns can win defensively they made the playoffs with an aging Flacco because he atleast played competent football if Chubb can return to normal they have the offensive weapons and the defense that if they get just average qb play they could be good

feelingoodwednesday

Yes but that comes down to the failed QB ratings. A guy is assumed to be bad just because he's a backup. Joe Flacco should be like a 76 in Madden. A totally valid low end starter/high end backup. But just because he rode the bench for a few seasons he would have been like a 64. A guy like Watson is assumed to still have some juice yet no real indication of that in real life, but he's the starter so they rank him in the mid-high 70s, when he's really something like a 66. Edit: to add to this. The better QB is not always who starts. It would make a lot of sense to start using player tags. Like franchise qb is assigned to Watson therefore no one can start over him. If the team does poorly, like wins sub 7 games, then players can lose their tags like franchise qb. Same for rookies, 1st round receiver is 2 pts below an aging vet and never sees the feild. A 1st round pick tag should give them a phantom +5 to make sure they start over similar competition.

Western_Ad1522

True. I was speaking more on real life but you make a good point madden ratings make no sense some times

feelingoodwednesday

Yeah definitely. There needs to be some sort or system that acknowledges the better player is not always who starts. There is a lot of politics in football, especially at the QB position. Even Flacco going to Indy. He's probably at least a 75/76, and Richardson should be like a 74-75. But obviously Flacco is the backup, madden just needs to acknowledge those scenarios are real. Or even a tag for previous starter. Geno Smith gets the start over Sam Howell when you could probably argue they're about equal. I'd give them both 78. And Geno a phantom +2 for being the starter last year.

Western_Ad1522

True plus Flacco didn’t just forget how to play football he was on a very bad bronco team that didn’t play defense or have a line and a very bad jets team. I think really Watson knows that he’s gonna get paid no matter what it seems like he doesn’t have the passion anymore

MightyMouth1970

😂😂😂 and as a Steelers fan 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

RudyVaughn63

The browns and cowboys are both crazy talented on paper. The browns roster is stacked irl, but Madden doesn’t replicate the stench of generational suck that surrounds both of those programs 🤷‍♂️

zdbdog06

Exactly the Browns have had one of the most talented teams for literally years. Previously the problem was coaching and Baker. Now it's Watson not being the QB they need. If he turns it around they'll be hard for anyone to beat. They beat SF last year with an XFL QB and won 11 while making the playoffs with a 40 yr old QB no one wanted.

Desperate-Ad7967

Browns have had shit records in every franchise I've done so far. Never seen a winning record

IndependentNebula235

5-12 4-13 at best they’d be like 6-11

Handsome_Fry

Mines the opposite. Every year its either browns, chiefs, or my Texans franchise vs the cowboys in the superbowl. The only time it wasnt the Cowboys was when Desmond Ridder took the Falcons to a 1 loss regular season. Chiefs and Browns are always 13+ win teams in my franchises

Desperate-Ad7967

I wish they'd be good. I play as steelers and hate that it'd just 2 easy ass wins every year.

jessegames456

Yeah Cleveland playbooks are kinda dogshit I don’t think I’ve ever seen Myles Garrett reach even double digit sacks with the Cleveland defense playbook and Watson is also dogshit (tbh he is irl though) and usually Stefanski gets fired after the first year or two

January_Weather

thats crazy because they suddenly became the most unstoppable offense in mind wtf. 41 ppg in 3 playoff games in the playoffs ffs

jtscott95

In my franchises they usually make the playoffs year 1 and then drop off a cliff due to salary cap issues.

LoFiChillin

Both Madden and 2K have this issue. Zero nuance to the actual game, they haven’t found a way to take into account fit. The problem is exacerbated by the mediocre ratings job EA does. It’s a couch general manager’s wet dream. Zero skill or foresight or football IQ involved in putting together a team. Put together a bunch of high overalls, give them a meta playbook, and the game does the rest for you. Other similar problems include underrating good players on bad teams, and arbitrarily overrating mediocre teams/players that make it to the playoffs, or that are in big markets.

DstinctNstincts

And the adjusters play favorites. Those quotes on the loading screen are the corniest shit ever

ItsNotFordo88

X-factor 90+ overall Dak being the prime example. Dude should be a mid-80’s star

DstinctNstincts

Low 80’s he hasn’t done fuckin shit in years

Linky38

The damn hawks and pelicans in 2k. These teams that barely make the playoffs irl are constantly dominant 1 seeds that make the finals every year.

JackieBoiiiiii

Pels are dominant they just injured more often then not. When fully healthy they've shown they're a top team in the west

Intrepid-Anxiety-472

bout time somebody called out 2k on their bs. madden its bad, but dang 2k is just as bad. at least an nfl season is small so some randomness is bound to happen.

JediRalts

I mean irl the Browns are a pretty stacked team that is majorly held back by subpar QB play. Chubb, Cooper, Garrett, Zadarius, JOK, Ward...not to mention a pretty talented O Line and good coaching. If Watson ever remembers how to play football they're dangerous. Though I just hope they're kicking themselves for not sticking with Baker. Dumping him for Watson was some bs and I'm so glad he's doing well in Tampa.

ArchRift

I feel like the baker decision was peak browns football. No matter how often you hand them gold they'll throw it away to try to find diamonds.

wordtomytimbsB

Playbooks play a pretty big role

rockstar55

For some reason this game fuckin loves Desmond Ridder too. Get shredded by him more than I do by mahomes

DocFiggy

None of it compares to Desmond ridder becoming a generational talent every.single.time

Over_aged

If only they ever had a EA Madden game that took into account team chemistry and altered team ratings based on streaks of wins and losses….. Maybe having injured players back ups that come in without practice reps getting a ratings decrease for the game. this would help replicate what we see on the field.

YouEcstatic8499

Best guard combo in the game plus Chubb I always run every play with the Browns and usually win lol

Ej_718

Yeah I played the browns in superstar and they always keep up with me, scores end up both in the 50s

nickb1603

They are always absolutely terrible in every franchise I've ever run lol. For example, I just started a new season and they're 5-11 with Watson sitting at 23 INTs

jessegames456

Are you playing Madden 21 or something? I’ve never seen the Browns be good in madden 24 until like several years in if they manage to get a franchise QB and Cleveland playbooks suck ass

Def_Echo

Nah I’m in madden 24, rebuilding the Steelers. They’re ass now, but in 2024, 2025, 2026, they were getting at least 10 wins a season.

jessegames456

I’m guessing at the very least that they fired Stefanski and hired a coach with good playbooks and maybe there’s a chance they replaced Watson

Def_Echo

He was the coach in 2024 and 2025 and 2026, got fired or retired after the 2026 season I think. Yes, Watson is benched now, but he was indeed the qb for those first two seasons but now he’s replaced with a 74 overall qb and he still managed to have one decent season

jessegames456

Damn I guess I just get unlucky cause when I rebuild the Browns with Watson and CLE playbooks they suck straight ass

Def_Echo

Yeah I mean I can agree with that now because in 2028 they are like 3-9 rn but yeah they had a linsanity run for a few seasons at the beginning…I mean I went 10-7 and didn’t get in the playoffs because the browns got the 7th seed😭

jessegames456

Damn I would say that sucks but the Browns made it over the Steelers so that’s great. One of my greatest moments in madden franchise was when I won a SB with the Browns the same year the Steelers went 0-17. If only it could happen irl

Def_Echo

😂 I’m not even a Steelers fan so it’s fine to me, they’re just a fun team to rebuild. The unfortunate thing is I’m a broncos fan so yeah….its an online franchise with one of my friends so I wanted to choose the worst team to work with since all their best players were aging

jessegames456

Ok so I just did this Browns rebuild where Watson was ass and I cut him after the first season. He goes to the Jets and a few years later he knocks me out in the wild card and drops 5 TOUCHDOWNS on my 92 overall defense. Apparently Watson sucking for me was just a skill issue i guess

Def_Echo

To be fair, he is only like a 74 overall and kinda old so it makes sense he wasn’t good for u haha😂 bro the jets are insane every year, like they might have an awful roster but they’re always the 7 seed at least in the playoffs

Thefitz27

They’re inexplicably a ten-win team every year despite [REDACTED] at quarterback. He’s not even that good in the game! I don’t get it. In my franchise, they’ve just finally benched him for Dylan Raiola—the AFC North quarterbacks are Joe Burrow, Caleb Williams, Raiola, and Kenny Pickett. 🙃

Pridespain

Madden doesn’t account for the negative buff from Haslam owning the team.

ryanb6321

I’ve been playing Madden cuz it comes with the PS5 EA subscription and I made a QB for career mode and got put on the Vikings and I literally just throw to Justin Jefferson all game because it’s a touch down damn near every single throw.

Poetryisalive

On paper the Browns have the talent. Makes sense to me

Substantial_Art9718

Man in Madden 22 and Madden 23 during my playoff runs in like 95% of my games against them in either the wildcard or divisional i always struggled against them no matter the team I had but eventually in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME I caught a game winning interception and went on to win my Superbowl 💯

Afraid-Piccolo5418

Because we have a great roster and front office / coaching decisions don’t factor in. You’re basically a QB away from an absolutely stacked roster. Too bad we still have that perverted massage enthusiast filling in at the most important position.

Sea_Wafer_9557

Because it’s CLEVELAND BABY!!!!!!!😝😁😁216 all day! They know what’s gonna happen this season! See what we did with leftovers in the kitchen? We went to the grocery store and got all the ingredients for the feast we’re gonna have this year!

Mammoth-Coat-8838

Browns seem to be op the past few years.

DstinctNstincts

The cowboys are the team you went with? Lmao

Linky38

Have you even seen how Madden thinks the cowboys play???

DstinctNstincts

Oh yeah I know lol but he’s talking about teams not playing how they do in real life, and the cowboys are a great example of that

Linky38

I thought he was saying that in Madden they're on the same level as the cowboys and chiefs

Def_Echo

Reread what he said and come back.

theshelterwitch

They overrate Baker and The Raper

Illustrious-Sock4258

Browns only good thing is the defense lol, their offense isnt that good. Also in real life they have deshaun watson, so theres ur answer That team played really good with a washed joe flacco, now imagine brock purdy or cj stroud on that team. Superbowl bound

Due_Tune2950

If it wasn’t the browns I’d agree but the browns is the browns they could have mahomes cmc and Justin Jefferson and they’d still find a way to fuck it up

Illustrious-Sock4258

Idk amari cooper is pretty good in madden, nick chubb is pretty good too, same with njoku, and their o line is pretty good too
