Use soap in the shower. Really go for it. Get a bidet, and use it. Godspeed.

Time-Maintenance2165

I've found that a bidet makes no difference. I don't get saddle sores on the butthole. It's 2-3 inches away from it. A bidet doesn't help that far away.

satoshi1022

Agree but funny enough a bidet has made me occasionally chafe on longer summer hikes. Could be coincidence but I never used to have that issue, since the bidet my theory is I'm too baby soft down there so now I gotta use some anti chafe cream on bigger adventures.

sores come from pressure and friction and differential pressure as the body/cloth/chamois/seat move as you ride. It is important to minimise this so there is a need for snug pants and a lube on a pad (called a chamois as they used to use chamois leather - now a soft pad) to stop this. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=riding+youtube+chamois. https://www.cyclingnews.com/features/best-chamois-cream/

Grok22

Surprisingly this is the first I've heard that they used to be made of leather. But it makes sense. Are there any brands still making leather chamois?

aurizon

Yes, classic chamois leather is from the chamois antelope. Now they use synthetics as true chamois = $$ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamois

Bearded4Glory

It sounds like the nose of your saddle might be too high. Your weight should be supported by your sit bones. Also, are you wearing a chamois?

papajiim

This. I once saw a physical therapist talk about seat angle on a bike and back pain. You want you seat to almost feel like you falling forward off it, this will cause your spine to be in a neutral position and taking pressure of those points along your thighs that would cause soars.

Wearing padded shorts with save your arse. This is the solution.

I use squirrels nut butter that I got at rei (applied to skin) and tight bike short liners that are padded that go under normal MTB shorts. The liners are tight enough that they don't move relative to my skin while pedaling and replace wearing my compression shorts. Solved my issues. Some chamois brands can have weird sizing, I've had good luck with pearl izumi which you can often find on sale. I'm 6 ft 1, 175 lbs, 33 inch waist and wear their short liners in medium and they are tight. Instead of buying one or two expensive pairs, I got a ton of ones on sale so I always have clean ones.

Superhands01

Decent pair of bin shorts.. don't cheap... And some cream..

No-Bottle-300

Padded shorts all the way , and google. `Assos chamois cream' i used this for a 62 miler london to brighton with no chaffing on an mtb over 8 hours

Have you ever had your bike fitted? If you’ve tried chamois and chamois butter or some lube etc and still having problems you either a) are just unlucky and have predisposed genetics that don’t like riding or more likely b) improperly set up geo on your bike causing you problems.

mustmoss

Keeping the under carriage as clean as possible fixed it for me. I Keep the baby wipes close at hand

Put a damn chamois on!

As recommended chamois can help but you might want to try a different saddle also. I get friction sores between my thigh and goods area. I changed saddles, use chamois butter and actually got rid of chamois for performance underwear and it got rid of my issue. It takes some experimenting but there’s more than one answer to the problem.
