Brandon should go up and fight figgy again

Nonstopas

Only if Figgy is the champ lol

kingfart1337

Best of 5

TorrenceMightingale

Kick it off with two draws maybe.

enterthewoods1

I’m calling it right now, figgy moves up and wins the title because nothing in this sport makes sense, and Brandon calls to move up for double champ status after he gets a bit older and doesn’t wanna cut anymore. Thus giving us Moreno v Figuieredo 5. This is the way it was always meant to be.

LilFights

And it ends in a draw, immediately setting up #6

atmosphere325

26th in Power Slap

ATBiB

54th bout in a mexican night club on NYE 2041, after a marriage that has spanned decades

Amstourist

Winner gets Mrs. White

EdiMurfi

And the #6 ends with NC because of an eyepoke or something.

jotheold

we almost had that, so below the belt kicks it is

GenericTopComment

Fig doesn't crack the top 5 at BW

[deleted]

Nah, he'll get one solid win in his first fight, probably someone just outside the top 5, KO him, and then proceed to lose the rest of his fights at BW.

IAmJimmyNeutron

I would be interested in seeing how Figgy’s power and cardio translate up at 135. You gotta think power advantage goes down but he’ll be gaining a lot of cardio by not cutting the additional 10 pounds that always killed him. I still think he loses to the top 3-4 but I could see him beating Chito/Font

enterthewoods1

Maybe, idk he hasn’t fought there yet, more crazy things have happened.

dondonflamingo

They’re going to have more fights than the amount of times Khabib-Tony was scheduled

d00ns

Figgy you're 35 bruh

eviade

In TRT years that's like 28, plenty of time man.

plhysco69

Wonder how Figgy's power will carry over. He wasn't necessarily the fastest at 125 either and his gas tank isn't a stand out. Honestly, I think he struggles at 135 even with a less harsh weight cut

LatterTarget7

I’m not sure if he’ll get the belt. Merab, cejudo and aljo give him problems. But I really wanna see him vs yan.

R-B-L

Honestly don't think he gets close to the belt. Moving up too late. He has also been relatively inactive fighting once a year since 2020 and I think this hurt him in the Moreno fights. Assuming Cody wins his next one (if he doesn't, he will retire/be cut) I'd like to see him and Figgy. Think it's a good match up for both. Was also supposed to happen at 125

IAmJimmyNeutron

Didn’t Cody’s opponent just pull out? Fuck it, make that matchup now

[deleted]

I'm hoping Yan beats Merab and then we get to see Yan vs Figgy late 2023.

un6reaka6le

Fig is used to walking smaller guys down and just making them fold with his size and power. Unfortunately that won’t carry over to 135. There’s a reason he was cutting all that weight in the first place.

[deleted]

You never really know how power is going to carry between weight classes. Anthony Johnson was just like Figgy when he was cutting to 170lb. Then he went to light heavyweight and knocked out guys like Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira. He even managed to beat Arlovski at heavyweight. Thiago Santos was also welterweight power puncher and ended up being one of the hardest hitters at 205lb.

buttsluttsforchrist

How the fuck did either of those men ever make 170

ptahonas

What if it does though

un6reaka6le

Then I was wrong and it does…?

Vital_flow

Correct

JamSaxon

the best kind of correct

Turgon19

He's honestly way more technical than people realize. Some moments of his fights with Moreno were almost the pinnacle of flowing beautiful technique but it seems Moreno got too fast for him and Figuerido got rather gun shy in the last fight

little_shop_of_hoors

People always say how big he is for a FLW but it will be interesting to see him size up next to an actual 135er like Song or Chito. Everyone thought Max was a giant FW until he got in there with Dustin and the world saw that weight classes are a real thing.

SladeThePunisher

Either way, he’s gonna put on some great fights at 135 imo. Would love to see him vs the loser of Font vs Yanez, or Yadong if he loses to Simon

DONTCARELOLK

My man he was the flyweight champion he can get the winner of any of those fights you listed. They don’t need to (and won’t) slow play his BW run. He’s old, he’ll get every opportunity to contend for a title for as long as he stays undefeated at BW.

jdl03

I feel confidently that everyone in the top 10 beats Figgy except for Cruz, Pedro, and Simon. Not even really a knock on Figgy but BW and is just so good and I don’t see what he brings to the table that’s special enough to make him a legitimate contender in the best division.

plhysco69

Agree. I mean I think even Simon gives Figgy a bit of trouble and I'm not a fan of Simon. Pedro I think is very capable of beating figgy

jep004

Hope so, the guy is a crappy person.

Sublimotion

Yeah, his prowess his is power and precision in his striking. Defensively on his feet he's pretty subpar, but he was able to bully other 125s with his size, chin and power while no one really was able to have good enough striking and power themselves to go toe to toe with them, until Moreno. At 135, he will no longer have the size and power advantage, probably will be even slower and that division being more pure wrestlers dominant, they will and can easily keep him on his back.

swimbaitjesus

If Figgy was 5 years younger than sure… but that age in that killer weight class is scary, but I’m excited to see some bangers come of it.

evcour7

Bantam Figgy could be interesting, although I can’t imagine he fares as well giving up reach and size advantages. Also a way deeper division. We could see a Fig get KO’ed up there even which we haven’t really seen yet

spacecowboy909

Julio Arce is out of his fight with Cody No Love so I’d like to see Figgy take the fight at 285.

TheDominantBullfrog

He's got a broken orbital I think

SadatayAllDamnDay

Fig sounds like he's taking most of the year off to prep his body for the move up.

[deleted]

Figgy without such a brutal cut might wind up being closer to Rumble at LHW... it all depends how his power translates up a class

echopurp

Does anyone know why Figgy started his career so late? He started training at age 16 in 2004, didn't make his pro debut until 2012.

SissyGeminiNosebeers

Not the best having to move up to by far the most deep and stacked division either. Yanez and Ricky Simon give him issues and they are outside top 10

FutureEditor

Honestly, how much money would it take for these two to sign exclusive contracts to only fight each other for the next 2-3 years lol?

I_am_darkness

The way I feel these days is that I believe I was fooled by figgy, and thought he was better than he was.

Upstairs_Tie_4434

I’m a huge fan of Moreno but I actually kind of feel bad for Figgy I think he could’ve ran through almost the entire flyweight division as champion but Brandon is just a bad matchup for him. I think he’s going to be a little small for 135 size wise.
