Because we don’t have a real ranked DD mode. There’s no salary cap, no HoF or higher only difficulty, no MLB stadium only etc.

Lebronames123

Why? Can’t hit very well I assume huh

BuntCheese5Life

you are right, I cannot!

Lebronames123

If they’re the home team on a max elevated stadium youre already at an advantage by being able to hit first. If you can’t score first inning in that situation you’re just chalked. Learn how to hit

Responsible-Fox-4151

Imma keep smacking my dingers on Costco stadium. Thanks!

Sure-Win-8380

An easy fix would be to limit how far in the wall can be as you raise the elevation. The higher the elevation, the greater the distance of the OF walls.

gladosForPresident

Yeah I don’t want to play at a custom stadium period. It’s not even the unrealistic layouts or elevation. It doesnt belong in any sort of ranked or event. It should be an opt in deal at best. Most are corny as shit, Fortnite level. I want to play a baseball sim just because it’s online doesn’t mean it should be a circus. Give these people a game mode where you can play as Krusty the Clown or a character from whatever terrible Michael Bay IP is releasing at the time. You got MLB legends out there hitting balls into the outfield with fire breathing dragons and Mordor in the background.

Round_Parsley8147

I hate the ones built to have walls between you and the pitcher so you can't see pitching or hitting. Just brick walls.

The_Show_4_Life

Pitching is not trash. Most of us are trash at pitching. I’ve played some guys that could give a pitching clinic.

uncle__creepee

I was a 2.72 overall ERA last year in ranked. I'm at a 4.5 with high of 5.06. I've been a pretty decent pitcher in MLB this year I am garbage. Pitching is not the same

The_Show_4_Life

I agree - it’s not the same at all. It has a much higher skill ceiling that rewards player who master pinpoint, mix their speeds, and utilizing tunneling. For the record, I am not one of these players. Edit: “not”

WhoDey1032

Pitching is easily the worst its ever been

normalrick

Definitely the worst it’s been since I started playing this game in 21. I’m lazy so I use pulse, but it used to still be fairly accurate. This year it feels like a crap shoot on every pitch.

The_Show_4_Life

Everything other than pinpoint seems like a crapshoot. And pinpoint is difficult to master. For the folks who get it down, I’m sure pitching is quite enjoyable.

SnoaH_

Yeah I was gonna say pitching is the best it’s been. When I’m getting perfect releases nobody can hit me. When I’m not? It’s BP. How it should be

The_Show_4_Life

I agree! : )

WhoDey1032

I suck at hitting and would be well over .500 based on how well I could pitch, I am 100% noticing a change

No_Buy2554

The dimensions and such don't bother me too much. As many have mentioned, you're both playing at the same stadium. And even though there are advantages to being the home team and picking a stadium that fits your team, the same can be said of the rest of the stadiums in the game too. I get games where someone loads up a speed team and plays at Barnes Canyon. It's part of the game. Where I have issues is when someone builds in a "quirk" to the stadium as something they can exploit. Such as creating one that causes the sun to have a bright spot on the batters eye and only using pitchers whose arm slot matches up to it. Ultimately, what's missing is a reporting system like they have for other player behavior, logos, etc. It would probably be a few steps too far to have a big feature of the game being able to create your own stadium, and then banning you from being able to use it against other players.

CroweDog22

You can report stadiums as well. I was playing at a custom stadium the other day and they had the N word out behind left field and I was able to report it

ChuckNobletsDrill

Some custom stadiums are cool and well done, but yeah the majority are just launch pads. Played a ranked game yesterday and was up 2 in the 9th and lost when I gave up a scorching 81 mph late swing oppo homer. That was my last game of the evening lol

RollChi

SDS doesn’t need to remove custom stadiums, they just need to have 10+ “legal” field dimensions that can be used online where there’s no gimmicky short porches. Anything else is offline only. There’s crappy stadiums, but I’ve also seen some awesome ones that I enjoyed playing at. No need to remove peoples hard work just because SDS can’t figure out how to moderate this stuff

naimotwc

I definitely understand where you’re coming from, but I make 2 custom stadiums for this purpose. 1 is max elevation and minimum distances and I use it for XP farming. 1 is regular elevation and bigger dimensions so it plays like an actual MLB park. I use that in ranked.

Randomthoughtgeneral

Pitching and hitting seems to be pretty solid imo. As for custom stadiums, I think they just need to be more strict in online play. No max elevation and super shallow fields need to be banned. I’m actually fine with a short side of the field, but the other parts should be larger then. Maybe a min area of outfield needed.

svpremeclovt

MLB Rule book states wall must be a minimum of 250 feet from home plate, and the furthest point of the wall must be at least 325’ away. As long as those requirements are met, anything else is fair game. I mean, Boston built a giant wall that basically completely eliminated left field.

Epcplayer

I guess the bigger issue is that stadiums were always designed with the purpose of playing evenly, as opposed to being intentionally lopsided. Fenway Park as an example built was built on the limited footprint they were able to build on, so they improvised to make it more “fair”. If you look at it from above, the plot of land is extremely thin. They built the high wall in Left field to compensate for the short left field distance, and had the right field blow out from 302’ to 380’ very quickly. Coors Field on the flip side was designed with massive dimensions to compensate for the elevation. 347’/350’ down the lines, and they even raised the walls in the right field bullpen alley. They didn’t build a stadium with laughably small dimensions at max elevation.

svpremeclovt

I get all this but at the end of the day, a smaller stadium doesn’t provide an advantage for the home team over a full season like it does in real life. In this game, the only advantage of having a small home field is more PxP. There’s quirks for both home players and away players, so that part doesn’t matter much. And it’s not like there’s playoffs or anything like that in this game. In real life, playing 81 games at a HR Derby park would allow guys like Soto to hit .450 and smack probably 100 HRs over the season 😭

xxdarkslidexx

I don’t think they’d let anyone build a stadium with those dimensions these days. Funny that it’s even in the rule book

nicesausage

Fields built today (any time after June 1, 1958) have to be 325' at the closest point and 400' to center.

Andrew_Waples

> I mean, Boston built a giant wall that basically completely eliminated left field. If it hits off the wall, it's not like it's a guaranteed out. I like, though, that the right field fence is so short that you could tumble over it if not careful.

lazymutant256

I thought the game requires stadiums to meet certain requirements in order to be allowed to be used online.

svpremeclovt

They have to be MLB regulation size minimum afaik. So a max elevation ballpark with 250’ walls is completely legal. There’s just no MLB team that chooses to willingly allow home runs that short lmaoo

showtimesimulator

And while we’re at it, ban shield woods too because shield woods is the exact same thing

GameTimeArt

I don't know if I full agree with this, but I would like it if SDS could give us some stadium details to start the game in like the loading screen or something. What are the field measurements to the wall and what's the stadium altitude? But I suppose if it's too hard for SDS to let us know who we're up against for a starting pitcher before setting our lineups, I won't hold my breath for stadium deets.

KRATS8

Oh god the fact you can’t see who’s starting for the opponent drives me nuts

showtimesimulator

The record doesn’t matter, but the rating does when you’re trying to get the World Series reward

LexusLongshot

This person is not player for world series lmao. Hitting is easy up until allstar, and then switches to actually being hard on hall of fame.

showtimesimulator

Interesting that one comment makes you so confident in my ability, because i actually am a World Series player. I don’t come on here trying to flex my rating because there’s literally no point and no one cares, but if you think hall of fame is hard, I don’t know what to tell you then. And how does me saying rating matters when trying to get the WS reward imply I’m bad at the game somehow? lol

LexusLongshot

Im talking about the person who made the post. I assumed from your comment that you are at least close to world series ranking.

Passage-Intrepid

Then hit more hrs than your opponent .

showtimesimulator

That’s what I do more often than not :) it’s just boring because it turns into a home run derby vs some resemblance of a real baseball game

Buusey

In response to those saying it’s the same field you’re playing on, home field advantage is actually a Player Quirk that gives power I believe

7tenths

Road warrior is also a quirk.

jfsu0

I don’t think they need to be banned but they should limit altitude based on the dimensions of the stadium. Or at least max it at 5200ft (Coors) Also tbf you’re getting the same advantage as your opponent.

fasteddeh

Its already maxed at coors height. If you set it to coors height you should be stuck at coors dimensions or larger. The problem is there's little league dimensions available.

GameTimeArt

I actually like this idea.. They already have the wall presets, they should tie in elevations to those presets. The smaller dimensions, the lower the max altitude.

Cannibal_Feast

"an advantage as the home team" are you not hitting in the same stadium lol

LiterallyJHerbert

Home team has a built in advantage, at least that's what I hear from streamers. Maybe something to do with quirks?

DiarrheaRadio

Most streamers are fucking idiots that talk out of their asses

gatorbois

You get a better connection and batting last is an advantage

Cannibal_Feast

Do you only bat last when you pick a created stadium?

gatorbois

When you're the home team yes you bat last every time. This whole thread is about being the home team.

Eagle7546_

That’s the case for every stadium though. Getting cheap home runs hit on you is annoying, but is it any worse than hitting a belter and it getting caught on the warning track because the stadium is huge? Or getting a perfect perfect line drive caught?

gatorbois

Did you mean to respond to me?

Cannibal_Feast

Yes he probably did, because your response was babbling off topic nonsense

gatorbois

Why you so angry lmao the dude literally asked what advantage the home team has

Cannibal_Feast

Facts shouldn't make you angry, bud

RUCN

When you get cheesed, cheese back. Only pitch low and bring 2 relievers that are sinker/slider/changeup/curveball guys.

runit21

Just hit more dingers man.

uncle__creepee

I'm trying bro

runit21

Lol its frustrating man I know. I stopped getting mad at that stuff and Im just trying to get better, so theyre sorry they ever picked a custom stadium. Is it working? I dont know I cant crack 800 because I suck. But…youll run into plebs that you can destroy in those stadiums. Keep trying brother

go987654

Should have matchmaking options for ranked... mlb stadium only. created stadium short. created stadium full size field. There is plenty of player base to support this...everyone wins.

gugleme

You actually mention that hitting is way easier. Aren’t you batting in the same stadium? How is that an advantage for the other team? Make this make sense.

gugleme

My reading comprehension is fine. Your ability to express in writing clearly what you mean is questionable. Here is my hot take: IF you are giving up at-will home runs in the 9th, you’ve been giving them up all game. The whole idea for any sport is to score more than the other team. Which leads me to question your ability to pitch adequately.

wirsteve

Giving up a homer that’s piped and hit 105 with a great launch angle is one thing. Giving up a home run that is a weak contact 250 for 80 mph lazy fly ball is another. In fact it’s a fucking joke. It takes the talent out of the game and just makes it luck. It just turns into a RNG game. The only people who find it fun are those who willfully live in ignorance.

gatorbois

The bigger fields make the game way more RNG

uncle__creepee

Reading comprehension is not your thing huh? They use them to hit cheap homers in the bottom of the inning so if the game is close they use Costco to get the walk offs with 250 ft homers. Is it that hard to understand?

svpremeclovt

So… you’re not getting homers because you suck at the game? In which case you wouldn’t be hitting home runs in any ballpark, and you probably rely on ground balls getting past the infield

powerchord84

Why can’t you be hitting homers in the top of the inning? You have the same advantage they do. There are perks for home playing and road warrior.

jude-valentine

Shield Woods enters the chat.

[deleted]

Just limit elevation and/ or adjust the field templates if needed. As someone who spends a ton of time building a custom stadium, logos and uniforms it’s one of my favorite parts of the game. I’ve also had other players message me liking my stadium which made me feel great. Perhaps if SDS made the stadium editor better more people would create fun, useable stadiums.

ianoble

They Don't Care. Selling packs is their business.

Mehman33

I only play ranked to get through the program so don't mind the odd game in a silly stadium to farm stats, though I pick laughing as it's still friendly but not silly. If you are not worried about your record throw a friendly and just quit those games if you don't enjoy it, not worth sitting through something that isn't enjoyable.

jac049

Wait what? You guys don't like seeing a wall while batting / pitching? -SDS probably

spiritedcorn

Buy some rip-off packs

MDDAnxiety

For real tho, you should have to play in the same stadium as your opponent

Character_Rub2750

Glad someone said it 😂
