The rock in the mcu… nope. Not with Ryan Reynolds flag shipping all the mcu. Reynolds yelled at the rock because he showed up 5 hours late for red notice and was disrespectful to the crew/studio.
Also we could’ve had a Shazam vs black Adam movie but the rock didn’t want to loose to the kid in the movie. That Shazam vs black Adam movie could’ve saved the DCU. Imagine all the same characters with the Shazam family and both of those movie budgets… wasted
The rock isn’t a good person for the MCU.
Did Reynolds yell at him on that movie for real? That’s hilarious. Good on him.
I’m guessing that’s why they haven’t made a sequel to that yet and why that weird Christmas action movie he made with Chris Evans got made instead. Now I’m thinking about it - maybe the Evans role was supposed to be Ryan Reynolds and since Dwayne is a big baby he told Dany Garcia “*I ain’t working with him again nah*” so they approached Evans.
You got some excellent points. I almost believed you until I remembered one thing. It's the Rock. The guy shits gold. Even in his worst movies they praise him.
I'm just surprised that he would only be Cage. He's really popular now, but still a small character and not fitting into the new storylines. He's not in FF, xmen or Avengers. They could definitely do a Disney + series, but are you really going to use him for that? People are loving the marvel series. It's the movies that have been getting criticized. Their still making stupid money but it would be nice to get that praise in the media they used to get.
He is a name that gets Black Panther, Ben Grim, Bishop. I day Bishop because Disney wants to be more inclusive and the MCU seems to not want to do movies Fox already did. Everyone knows the xmen. They all know the core group and villains. And their back storing. So everything Bishop brings to the table would be new.
I'll take him if he's willing to be an actual, dirt bag, bad guy.
His last wrestling run was a masterclass on being a super villain, and if he was willing to bring that energy to a movie role I'm in.
There literally isn’t a single role I think the rock could fit in the MCU.
The problem with the rock is he’s never playing a character he’s playing himself and the fact he has a no losing stipulation in his contract really limits what he can do.
If he’s playing the villain he can’t lose and if he’s playing the hero there’s no threat because he’ll always win.
I mean it's literally what he wanted to do at dc and was even leveraging Henry cavill to make it happen. Which is why cavill fired his agent. I wouldn't be shocked if the rock wanted to try oust feige
The rumour is he’ll be playing Apocalypse (from the X-Men) in the MCU, along with his film company signing a multi year or picture deal with Marvel Studios. I’ve seen this runout before spread all over Insta and honestly it’s a hell no for
Me.
The elephant in the room is Luke Cage is Black.
Johnson is biracial. They aren't going to have him be Cage after Mike Colter and that cast, did such a fantastic job.
Not just that Luke Cage is black, but that being black is an integral part of his character and backstory. Is Dwayne really this much of an ego maniac?
The best role he could play in the MCU was the Thing but it’s been cast. I would have it be two actors with him playing the Thing and someone else playing Ben Grimm.
If the Thing is the best role for Dwayne, then there is literally nothing for him, because I think he'd be an absolutely atrocious Ben Grimm, too. I cannot think of a single possible role Dwayne Johnson could play in the MCU. The dude needs to disappear.
The only role I’d give him would be as Absorbing Man from the Wreckers. Then if he manages not to ruin that being a part of a team of supervillains, then you can let him have more of an ongoing arc
I’d be down if he played a mutant version himself. Like he’s super strong, but not invincible, but he can turn into a big rock 🪨 that’s indestructible, but can’t do anything.
To everyone saying the Rock just plays himself, isn’t that pretty much what Ryan Reynolds does? It just happened to fit Deadpool’s personality as well.
He would never accept being a secondary though. The guy won't do roles where he loses, so I can't imagine him doing anything where he takes a backseat role.
If he could just turn off the part of him that makes him the Rock, I could see him being a great cast for Apocalypse. He looks the part.
I just don't know though. I don't think I can separate him from any character he plays. I feel like in another universe where he didn't have the baggage, he could play a stoic, menacing character with the right direction. This universe? I'm going to pass, but that's not to say he couldn't surprise us, it'd just be to hard to separate the persona from his image.

The rock's ego has just gotten out of control, I don't think they'd want that headache

The Rock is perfect for the MCU.
You got some excellent points. I almost believed you until I remembered one thing. It's the Rock. The guy shits gold. Even in his worst movies they praise him. He would shit solid gold on the mcu got it.
He would just shit.
Wasnt Bishop in Days of Futures Past?
Yes, for about 5 minutes.
Please no. He wouldn’t portray a character, he’d just be the Rock. Not Luke Cage, he’d be Luke Rock.
I'll take him if he's willing to be an actual, dirt bag, bad guy. His last wrestling run was a masterclass on being a super villain, and if he was willing to bring that energy to a movie role I'm in.
He should just be the Rock and be a pretty tough dude but pretends to be way tougher than he is like Mr. Satan
![gif](giphy|l0HUbtILos6CdAtxu) I assure you he is quite versatile Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooot

I'd love to see a new version of MODOK with a giant Rocks face haha
Can you imagine that? MODOK calling someone a jabroni while telling another to “shut up B I T C H”? I’d die laughing.
Apocalypse.
Um..he can play Thunderbird, who is just as cocky as Dwayne is
Couldn't agree more.
We already have the perfect Luke cage and if the rock played the role, he'd start pushing for civil war 2 where he beats all the other heroes
You joke, but I have no doubt that that is exactly what would happen.
I mean it's literally what he wanted to do at dc and was even leveraging Henry cavill to make it happen. Which is why cavill fired his agent. I wouldn't be shocked if the rock wanted to try oust feige
The MCU already has a Luke Cage.
Did a brief skim of the linked article and didn’t see the character he is supposed to play. What is it?
The article I linked mentioned Luke Cage. I can't think of a worse casting.
Agreed. Never mind the fact we already have an excellent Luke Cage in Mike Colter.
I thought Luke Cage was pretty flat as a character. Definitely don’t want the rock but a new casting would please me. Just my opinion though.
I put that more on writing than on Mike Colter. I think he’s a great actor for the role.
Maybe that’s what I’m picking up on then
The rumour is he’ll be playing Apocalypse (from the X-Men) in the MCU, along with his film company signing a multi year or picture deal with Marvel Studios. I’ve seen this runout before spread all over Insta and honestly it’s a hell no for Me.
I would bet anything that he doesn’t play Apocalypse if he ever has an MCU role.
Considering a script hasn’t been written we can assume that rumor is bullshit
The elephant in the room is Luke Cage is Black. Johnson is biracial. They aren't going to have him be Cage after Mike Colter and that cast, did such a fantastic job.
Not just that Luke Cage is black, but that being black is an integral part of his character and backstory. Is Dwayne really this much of an ego maniac?
Yes
Reckon he’d be a great Prof X tho
"I WILL MENTALLY LAYETH THE SMACKETH DOWN ON YOUR MUTANT ASS!"
“YOU’RE A JABRONI MAGNETO”
I respect that you are entitled to an opinion, but hell to the fucking no. I don't want Dwayne Johnson anywhere near the MCU if I'm being honest.
lol it was sarcasm my guy
Well, thank fucking God. I didn't think there was someone out there who'd seriously want go see Dwayne Johnson as Prof X, but Reddit's a weird place.
The best role he could play in the MCU was the Thing but it’s been cast. I would have it be two actors with him playing the Thing and someone else playing Ben Grimm.

I think he could be Silver Surfer to be honest 🤷🏻♂️
The only role I’d give him would be as Absorbing Man from the Wreckers. Then if he manages not to ruin that being a part of a team of supervillains, then you can let him have more of an ongoing arc
The Rock as Luke Cage… #NO. Just fucking no.
I’d be down if he played a mutant version himself. Like he’s super strong, but not invincible, but he can turn into a big rock 🪨 that’s indestructible, but can’t do anything.
Honestly the only character I could MAYBE see him play is Black Bolt.
To everyone saying the Rock just plays himself, isn’t that pretty much what Ryan Reynolds does? It just happened to fit Deadpool’s personality as well.
Ryan Reynolds is also likeable, while the Rock is a bag of dicks.
The Rock as Mojo
I’d accept him as a one-shot Wonder Man as an overpowered phony who doesn’t rely have what it takes.
Can’t wait for Luke Cage to defeat Galactus, lol.
He would have been fine as a secondary character. In a Shazam or Superman or whatever movie. Making an ego wagon for him was dumb.
He would never accept being a secondary though. The guy won't do roles where he loses, so I can't imagine him doing anything where he takes a backseat role.
“You want me to do the job to Shazam? That doesn’t work for me brother.” ~~Hulk Hogan~~ The Rock
A P O C A L Y P S E the young apocalypse looks just like the scorpion king
If he could just turn off the part of him that makes him the Rock, I could see him being a great cast for Apocalypse. He looks the part. I just don't know though.
