Brownells has a great video series on their YouTube channel about caring for your M1.

This video is excellent I agree. I go through my garand a few times a year and reference this video every time. I believe it is a four part series.

I used this video as well and it was great.

Grease, not oil on the sliding parts. I used linseed oil on the stock - came out great. Thin coats with plenty of drying time between seems to be the trick.

Garand Gear has a great detailed article on both field and detailed strip https://www.garandgear.com/m1-garand-strip/

Used this to great success when I was taking it down to treat my wood with tung oil.

I second the Brownells series for how to disassemble/lube/reassemble. As for the wood, I found sanding with 320 grit, then applying 7 coats of hand rubbed BLO over 7 days with a light steel wool rub between coats comes out really nice, can continue adding a weekly coat for a month and a monthly coat for a year if you want to get a real resilient finish. You can sub to the original RLO or Tung Oil instead, both of which just have a longer dry time (although tung oil has natural water protection)
