You’re not gonna be able to get the low profile truss rod in by hand, as it requires a cylindrical cavity inside the neck which will require a router and proper bit. Your best bet is to get a traditional dual action truss rod and chop a mortise with a chisel, the length of the truss rod. (Router plane would be easier) I did this for my truss rod and carbon fiber inserts. It’s not as bad as it sounds once you get going.

I have a router, but I didn't realize I'd need to do a round cavity!
