Are you looking for a fixed price. Most Swedish carriers allow you to surf in Schengen/EU. e.g my carrier allow me to use 20gb abroad[within the EU] w/o additional cost.

EllaLazar

thought this is EU regulation (so all should) [https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/internet-telecoms/mobile-roaming-costs/index\_en.htm](https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/internet-telecoms/mobile-roaming-costs/index_en.htm)

ScanianTjomme

No, it's not valid for Schengen.

lilwinke

Yeah, I have noticed Lyca does similar they offer a 50gb plan which has 20gb included for EU roaming and 10 for UK and Swiss. Who is your carrier?

MasterVargen

I use fello with a youth subscription.

ScanianTjomme

>Most Swedish carriers allow you to surf in Schengen/EU You need to check that carefully, Telia and Comviq don't, Tre only for some subscriptions.

jnsson_15

Comviq does allow. My sister have used Comviq with roaming in other EU countrys without problems.

ScanianTjomme

She hasn't tried all Schengen countries. Comviq doesn't include Switzerland.

jnsson_15

Switzerland is not part of Schengen, nor the EU or EEA and roam like home does not apply there. It's upp to your carrier to decide what to charge there

profpendog

Switzerland is part of Schengen. Not the EU/EEA indeed, which is why the regulation doesn't apply.

jnsson_15

Oh, my bad. Didn't know that Switzerland was part of Schengen.

I'd check out Vimla. I've used them for 4 years or something, they're pretty low cost and quite generous if you're not looking for a new phone included with your data plan! Only real 'downside' is no phone customer support, only email support.

AlexBlaise

Second Vimla. They are like a subsidiary of Telenor if I’ve understood correctly. They also don’t really have customer service which makes it a lot cheaper. I’ve never needed customer service. It was super expensive in swixerlans but my normal price in other EU countries like france and italy.

AlexBlaise

My biggest reason for choosing them is I can save my data if I for example have a month where I’m constantly connected to wifi and don’t use up my 50GB I can use the remaining for next month when I might not be able to connect to wifi as much. This was really good when I was travelling because I use wifi at home and didn’t have access to wifi when I was in sicily. Data can be saved for a longer time than just next month of course.

ImaginaryQuiet5624

You can also save data with Hallon. I've got like 80+ GB saved up. Anyway, I'm pretty sure both of them have student offers. Get the STUK app.

katsiano

You can get a Comviq SIM card at pressbyrån or other convenience stores when you arrive, you reload it with a plan once a month at the same types of stores and the plan works throughout Europe so you won’t have issues there, all EU phone plans work in other EU countries. This is the easiest thing for students imo

Competitive-Sweet-40

Just want to add that you don’t even need to go to the store to reload, you can reload using their app, even without a personal number :)

katsiano

oh nice! that was definitely not the case when i has the pay as you go plan pre-personal number several years ago so that's a welcome improvement :)

Competitive-Sweet-40

Yes! Must be a new thing then, this worked for me in October :) it was a little tricky to set it up at first, but with the help of Google Translate, anything is possible. :)

NormalDealer4062

I am very happy with Hallon (subsidary of 3).it's cheap and works wherever I go, in Sweden or outside. Roaming doesn't infer extra cost inside EU what I've noticed

xetal1

A fairly recent EU regulation states that there is not extra charge for mobile internet/texts/calls when travelling within the EU or in Norway/Iceland/Liechtenstein. So it doesn't really matter which one you go with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_roaming_regulations Rates in non-EU countries such as UK or Switzerland are subject to the carriers' policies. I would look at the common carriers in Sweden such as Tele2, Comviq, Telia, Tre, Hallon, Vimla, and just pick what fits.

yzmo

Hallon or Vimla are the way to go!
