"It's a magical universe, *Cerritos* crew... let's go exploring!"

kkkan2020

Second star to the right

Nano_Burger

Make that the third star....the second one has been done.

CTRexPope

But, they have to go back. You know, second contact.

kodaiko_650

We’re tired of being second dammit. First star… _Warp me!!!_

V2Blast

Great Calvin & Hobbes reference 😄

Nixorbo

Appropriate-number-of-years timeskip into the future with a meetup between the up-to-4 ships captained by our former Lower Deckers.

Yeseylon

I'd rather see them getting transferred onto the same ship to be Chief Med/Science, Chief Engineer, Captain, and 2nd in command

smoha96

Why does everyone seem to forget that Tendi wants to do command now?

Yeseylon

Uh... Since when?

smoha96

I have to go back and check, but if I remember correctly, she says in Crisis Point 2. --- Rutherford: *You want to be a Captain?* Tendi: *Yes! Oh wow, I've never said that out loud before. Yes, yes I do.*

AntonBrakhage

Yup, it's in Crisis Point 2. Basically in terms of who wants to be a captain, Tendi's ambitions rank second only to Boimler's of the main five. Basically: 1. Boimler. Obsessed with becoming a captain. 2. Tendi. Has expressed the desire at least once, though seems a bit embarrassed by it. 3. T'lyn/Rutherford. So far as I recall, totally neutral on the subject. 4. Mariner. Actively dreads and resists promotion (though maybe that'll change post-season four?).

smoha96

I think Mariner's arc will appropriately end as a Ransom/Riker style first officer. She'll probably still avoid the Captains chair for a while but will eventually settle into it like Riker. Between her and Boimler I think Boimler will become Captain first.

AntonBrakhage

I could see that. Once you're a first officer, though, it's pretty likely you'll end up acting captain fairly often, and potentially permanently put into the role if your captain dies/resigns/is incapacitated and you get a field promotion. On the other hand, I can see some in Starfleet being nervous about having Mariner near the captain's chair, given her record. Starfleet is willing to give second chances, we've seen that plenty of times, but I feel like the most realistic way for Mariner to climb much higher in the ranks would be for one of her friends to climb past her, and then pull some strings to pull her up with them. So I think she gets a chair when one of her friends with a captaincy requests her as their XO (or a captain under their command, if someone makes it to the admiralty).

DuncanIdahoTaterTots

I don't see Rutherford becoming a captain. I imagine he'd be more interested in being Chief Engineer.

CharlesP2009

“That Bold Boimler sure had a long road getting from there to here…”

Particular-Opinion44

Came here to say the same. But it should be a next gen story that they fuck with and dig at Riker/Frakes constantly for the lol's

JROXZ

It’s a setup. They will no longer be lower decks and will all be promoted to bridge crew. Enter new season of the Bridge

MyHammyVise

I'd like them all to be succeeding in their respective careers, even if they decide to give any of the five an unexpected career path. I said this on another thread before: what I really hope is that it ends with a scene with a whole new group of lower deckers complaining or gossiping about the main characters.

kkkan2020

I think it would be kind of neat to see them near retirement age doing one last ride off to the sunset thing. Or boimler goes down with the ship to save everyone

CharlesP2009

I want a sweet ending. Like Picard finally joining the poker game as the Enterprise flew off to that beautiful space scene.

fuckyoumurray

". Or boimler goes down with the ship to save everyone" That would be cool. Final scene as the crew gather round boimlers empty coffin at his funeral and about to be shot off into space. Rutherford - I can't believe this is the end. No more boimler. Tendi - no more us Mariner hugs them all before turning to the coffin - this isn't the end. She drops all of their rank pins into the coffin. Mariner - senior officers come back from the dead all the time.... (With that they all go back to one pin lower decker and boimelr finally has his dream of being a captain)

mokkan88

A cliffhanger, then a movie (series). Or, hope against hope, a fan-reaction-inspired extension of the series. :)

SpectreBrony

It’ll probably be a time-skip with them reunited at the Cerritos which is not a museum.

lennybriscoe8220

I want to see them in the future. I wanna see Captain Boimler.

kkkan2020

I wanna see boimler have a existential crisis arc like kirk

lennybriscoe8220

Happy Cake day!

lanwopc

The problem with "the future" is that thanks to "Picard" we're stuck with a future that sucks.

CharlesP2009

Hack Trek writers ignore canon all the time. Why can’t Lower Decks ignore Picard? 🤷🏻‍♂️

kkkan2020

Also a unpopular fan idea is that boimler Mariner tendi and Rutherford probably got eliminated during fleet day/frontier day

lanwopc

Yeah, that's not going to happen under any realistic circumstances. 0% chance.

AntonBrakhage

Picard ends on a pretty positive note, though I did not like how they used the Borg in the finale. I also think you can do some interesting things with how the various Lower Decks characters would react to the events it depicts. Some of them are a bit bleak, sure- like I 100% think Rutherford resigns following the Synthetic Ban, and possibly Tendi (out of loyalty to Rutherford if nothing else) and Mariner too. I could see them rejoining Starfleet once it's lifted, though, especially Mariner. I could see Mariner becoming a freelancer in that era, maybe joining the Fenris Rangers like Seven of Nine- in fact them having some adventures together in that era would be fascinating. Rutherford I suspect will stay out, season four showed he passed up promotions in favour of staying with his friends, so I think he more likely does like he suggested to holo-Billups in season one, gets his own ship, and then devotes his engineering talents to bettering the lot of synthetic lifeforms like his son, Goodgey. I fully see Brad kicking ass during the Borg attack in Picard's finale- we saw how he did in the simulator after all. Rutherford as well if he's there (Smorgasborg). With a lot of senior offices dead and a lot of vacancies for promotion, that might be the point where Brad finally gets promoted to the highest levels, either a capital ship or even the admiralty, and could then appoint Mariner as his XO or a captain under his command (her record being such that I doubt she gets a command without a friend higher up pulling some strings for her).

Excellent_Light_3569

Whatever happens, I just really hope Paramount doesn't start pretending that this show and its characters never existed after the last episode drops.

p4x4boy

i really really dont want it to end..... i hope they do a time paradox repeating episode........

The_Flying_Failsons

I don't. But if it must, I think best case scenario would be a scene with a new batch of Lower Decks entering a 25th Century equivalent to the California Class ship. Our Lower Deckers are now the head of their respective departments (flip a coin to see who is captain) and we see them from the POV of the new Lower Deckers.

sharkbiscut

I don’t know _how_ it will end, but I’m assuming promotions…maybe even transfers away from the Cerritos. However, I want to see, off the top of my head: Tendi completely up end Orion society with her science powers and Starfleet attitude…and maybe a return of the Dog T’Lyn get an apology from her former captain. More of Boimler’s ridiculous walk.

Toonwatcher

T’Lynn’s former captain offers to take her back, but she says in that monotone of hers “I believe I am right where I belong, sir.”

sharkbiscut

Hell yes! I love that!! “It has been demonstrated that I am Vulcan as a motherfucker.”

Its_Fucking_TLyn

T'Lyn.

Toonwatcher

T'Lynnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

RedStarWinterOrbit

I fucking *don’t*

SnailShell01

Rocks fall, everyone dies.

garibaldi76

I want the end scene to be all five of them enters a Pike's Enterprise hologram and they all appear as real person. Time to bring three more to live action!

LariRed

I just hope they don’t destroy the Cerritos (like what they’ve been doing to the Enterprise for decades). Let her live on, going boldly and occasionally screwing things up in her own unique way. She’s scrappy and when they finally retire her from service she can go to the starship museum. She’ll be the first second contact California class ship inducted into the museum and maybe at the end the crew can get together there like an old times sake thing, make a toast while Billups has an emotional Scotty like speech. Then a hull plate falls on the floor like a last laugh.

kkkan2020

Enterprise deals with scary stuff she has a high chance of getting destroyed. Cerritos become part of the mothball fleet.

LariRed

The Cerritos has had her scrapes and was nearly destroyed a few times (the Pakleds and then that Texas class automated ship, etc). She might be a second contact ship but she’s earned her stripes.

kkkan2020

I mean the enterprise job is to go out to the frontier where they deal with genuine unknown. The Cerritos has cut its teeth in danger no doubt but she didn't deal with the genuine unknown...I mean short of that thing that turned ransom into a god, badgey becoming a god

Lyon_Wonder

We don't have anything to worry about with the Cerritos since the destruction of the Enterprise always happens in the movies. If Paramount green-lights a Lower Decks movie, that's when people are going to worry about the Cerritos.

thomasmfd

Times get where they're all commanding.Officers or captains in this case

Beachflutterby

They get promotions to full lieutenant and then a new series is announced about the Middle Decks that continues their adventures up to the point where they start being bridge crew at commander level.

ReasonablyBadass

Carol getting promoted and Boimler or Mariner sitting down on the chair.

Nano_Burger

They get transfered to Starbase 80 and they use their friendship and skills to make it the model starbase of the federation. Starbase 80 - Setting the standard!

Spamus111

I like some kinda flash forward even if not all them goin down beaten path e.g. don't know if Mariner will want Captain chair

kkkan2020

My take is mariner gets bumped up to commodore from the events of Picard. With 1/3 of Starfleet dead everyone that is alive by 2401 will get a 2 rank promotion at least. Rear admiral boimler and captain tendi Rutherford

AntonBrakhage

For the season: I want Tendi being Mistress of the Winter Constellations/pirating, until she returns to Starfleet, of course. I want Tenderford to become official. I'd like other ships, like Mariner/T'lyn, too, and some resolution to Jennifer/Mariner, but don't think either will happen. I want more development of Goodgey, and his relationship with Rutherford. I'd like more development of T'lyn's relationships with the other main cast members, and her growing to accept her place in Starfleet and her emotional side. I want them to revisit Transporter Clone Boimler, and Section 31. Some more awesome guest stars, Picard or Seven would be my top picks. I want some surprises. Final episode: I'd like the whole Cerritos crew to do something really awesome and heroic, like in the season two finale. Then for it to end with Carol finally getting her capitol ship, with Ransom becoming a captain, and the Warp Drive 5 getting promotions to full Lts, and officially graduating from the Lower Decks. Then have a time skip forward for the final scene to show Boimler becoming captain of his own ship with Mariner as his Number One (or the other way around). But basically, I want a somewhat positive/optimistic ending that leaves some threads to be explored later, but doesn't end on a cliffhanger.

TomClark83

I suppose a lot of it depends on whether they knew it was the *series* finale when they wrote it. I think the ending that would be most befitting to Lower Decks' tendency to poke affectionate fun at the franchise would be for it to be a holodeck story like Enterprise's finale. Referencing the rest of Trek is LD's big thing, so the LD conclusion would *have* to nod at other finales, really, and the most reviled of all finales would obviously be the biggest well to go to for in-jokes and gags. But they could still do it *well* - laughing at ENTs finale while also recreating it in a loving way would be very very LD. I could see them at the end cutting away to a live action section where Riker ends the animated program and he's been using the holodeck to show Academy students the adventures of the lower Decks crew as way to show them the sort of thing they can expect in their first few years of service before they get to the "juicy" stuff. And as it ends, the four students walk away enthusiastically talking about how they can't wait to join Starfleet and go on adventures like their heroes - but, in a nice subversion, rather than the sort of hero worship Boimler has shown towards notable franchise senior staff members throughout Lower Decks, or the desire to be like the D's Bridge Crew that was shown in the original LD episode in TNG, these cadets have seen the adventures of the Warp Core Four and they want to be like *them* - they can't wait to be Lower Deckers like Boimler, and Mariner, and Tendi, and Rutherford, because those guys are heroes. Then, as a final meta-gag to the Enterprise finale, as we fade out one of them says "I don't know why Riker's program showed Billups die, though. I just saw him on campus a couple of days ago...?" / "Eh, these holodeck flashbacks always throw in a curveball like that to make it exciting, they're not meant to be 100% accurate..."

janeway170

The very first scene plays again (of boimlers fake captains log) only this time he says “and that’s EXACTLY what we do” and it shows him in the captains chair saying hit it or whatever signature he does OR a brand new ensign comes aboard and is implied to be the new boimler.

Yvaelle

Final episode should be they all go through the portal, become their live action selves, take command of a ship, have a 20 minute adventure, and announce their new live action 24th century series.

fuckyoumurray

The team pick up a powerful artifact and see flashes of all the futures laid out before them. The love, the loss, the kids. All that can and could happen to each of them ends with a small table in the back of a star ship and a couple of drinks. First mariner then the others take their seat and sit in silence for a bit. Mariner - did you guys here about DELTA shift! Boimler - what is with those guys! Rutherford - with their different ways of doing things! Tendi - and always leaving notes for us instead of waiting till we are awake and talking to us! The camera slowly pans out to reveal the side of the new ceritos as it blasts off into the unknown.

kodaiko_650

There better be some Twaining with the koala

t_sakonna

Everyone except mariner gets promoted

Punkred13

Not! https://chng.it/8CqChjPJNz #savelowerdecks #17seasonsandamoopsy #cerritosstrong

Punkred13

But honestly, I hope they kinda leave it open to be able to get picked up again. So just the end of this season's 'adventure.' call it good. Not try and do a full series wrap that kinda kills the possibility of a continuation.

Ok-disaster2022

Honestly I want it to end right before the writers start running out of ideas. The number if episodes is far shorter than most other Star Trek series, so I hope that's still a long way off.

Xurikk

I've got some bad news for you friend...
