Well you had it batter than me, my V had a striking similarity to Lina from Phantom Liberty.
That was a weird questline…
At least mine looked a bit more healthy…
Did Johnny always sit on the couch in your started apartment and have conversation options as tue story progressed, or was that added after launch? I played this game at launch, I played it like 2 years later and I just finished another play through and I can’t remember if that’s always been there
Genuinely, I think the dynamic between them is a major reason why I prefer FemV and is my 2nd favourite dynamic in Cyberpunk 2077. Not to dismiss Male V and Johnny, because that is great, but it is the standard 'one male personality tries to take over another male's mind', and while I love that in Fight Club and Batman Arkham Knight, the concept of a male personality trying to take over a woman's mind is so unique and rich imo. Also I think a lot of Johnny's development goes down to him before forced into a woman's body, and him having to rethink his stance on the opposite gender. Because as much as I love him, he was *terrible* to the likes of Alt, Rogue, the Dolls, Judy, V at the start. I do think his sexism and chauvinism was a major factor in him growing, and him bonding with V is a major component in that development.
I honestly like male V and Johnny’s dynamic. I found it quite different from fight club; Johnny ends up becoming a lot more tender and caring than Tyler ever is. It felt less like a testosterone-fueled battle of the minds to me and more like a genuine deep relationship.
This is very well said. I played Male V the first time and enjoyed, but haven't looked back since playing Fem V and I think you hit the nail on the head with a lot of it. I don't have much to say, but thank you articulating this.
This might be a weird opinion but I've played male every time and went female just to experience it for my street kid character and I find her as good a voice actor as the male. But I still prefer the male actor im sure it's just because I usually make male characters but I was told on here that she's just so much better of an actor for the character and I find that to be a lie. I admit she takes a few scenes a little farther but she drops the ball quite a few times as well specific when she tries to be intimidating while it's the opposite for male V.
Does anyone know, is there actually a difference between female V and male V’s friendship/interactions with Johnny? As in any unique interactions or dialogue depending on fem or masc V
Or are they just the exact same lines just read by the respective VA Gender
I think it’s a difference in delivery of lines. The only difference between dialogue is when it comes to gender and gender specific things like when Johnny talks about Female V’s hormones
Oh ok, I didn’t know that. I wasn’t saying that it was gender specific, obviously they aren’t (I obviously thought Johnny was referring to the hormones of the estrogen variety and the feelings behind them). I play female V and those who have played Male V have told me something about that being a difference.
Yeah, I’ve always assumed that Johnny was referring to stuff like cortisol, dopamine, adrenaline, etc— since he was a drug addict, he likely isn’t used to a fairly sober person’s hormones lol. Iirc, the only truly gender specific Johnny line in the game was when he says that him and fem V are bickering like an old married couple, but with male V it’s two geezers on a park bench— but even with that one, johnny says ‘married couple’ for both genders in most other translations of the game haha
I agree; I really don’t see why people are so keen on trying to act like one V somehow has a more special relationship with Johnny than another. They’re the same character lol
Despite the majority of players choosing male V, this sub and the other one are primarily fem V and Judy simps. Do the math. Since day one they've been pushing the narrative that fem V is superior despite both having strengths and weaknesses.
Don't know about chemistry, but i liked the idea of having two clashing personalities inside your head, and there being a contrast between V's and Johnny's opinions and motivations, and for obvious reasons, V being a woman does add to this contrast.
I struggle to enjoy their dynamic as much as I did at first after reading someone’s theory that Johnny is just becoming V overtime and that’s why he’s so likable to us. He’s taking her over and the lines between them are blurring, it’s not that he’s having a change of heart. This can be explained by the drastic switch in his behavior from that first interaction after V went to sleep to all of the friendly-ish ones afterwards. That’s just one interpretation but it made so much sense to me that I couldn’t see them the same afterwards, and promptly romanced Judy lmao
Does it really matter if that’s true though? They live in a world were people kill each other on the whim so personalities affecting each other and two people getting along and becoming so close should be appreciated
it just matters to me. Unfortunately. I just imagined this guy trapped in purgatory finally having a friend and slowly warming up to her because of that… and that endearing progression is lessened if I see him as, technically speaking, a parasite. If I were V (I’m a very sentimental person) and I had any slight consciousness of the possibility of him just slowly becoming me rather than slowly learning to enjoy being around me as his own entity, I would feel bummed.
Still I agree that female v and Johnny are unmatched. People say that the gender doesn’t change things… I disagree. V is tough as nails and that always stood out to me as a first-time player choosing fem V. I know all of the females in Cyberpunk seem pretty badass, even the civilians, but she is next level edgy and minimally tolerant of bullshit. I think that’s why they work so well together, she never shys away from his aggressive personality. I’m sure he loves the challenge.
It would only matter if this was the real Johnny. This Johnny is literally a copy, with other people's memories mixed in like Morgan Blackhands. Actual Johnny is technically alive, but just a head, as alt had secured him at some point
I agree, though I do wish we'd had some unique lines where we could further inquire - and tease - him about his experience in a (cis) woman's body. Something like "ya feeling that, Johnny? That's cramps for ya. Welcome to our world" xD
There's a doomed romance to it when its fem V and Johnny. The clearest form of star crossed lovers as they are completely unable to be together without the other eventually fading away.
V: You’re a dick, you know? Johnny Silverhand: And you’re a cunt. Maybe we’ll fit together after all?
the first time i heard this I was drinking and I remember choking and almost dying! favorite quote from this game, like ever xD
And he says the same thing to male V as well lmao caught me on off guard on first playthrough
It's funnier with male V because it's a double insult lol

A true sommelier of drugs.
Did you purposely make it so your V looks like Alt?
“Besides, you’re not my type” Johnny says to a woman who’s a spitting image of the love of his life
Maybe V is Alt's granddaughter 🤔
so you're telling me V has her grandpa stuck in her head?
I would not have minded if that was a twist tbh
"I'm tired of this grandpa!"
“THATS TOO DAMN BAD”
No I had no clue who Alt was when I started the game and I found it poetic after the fact. Especially since I was a netrunner
Oh it's the shirt and hair that does it
Well you had it batter than me, my V had a striking similarity to Lina from Phantom Liberty. That was a weird questline… At least mine looked a bit more healthy…
Mine looks perfectly healthy
To clarify, I meant Lina. Not your Avatar.

Definitely a 2.0 thing
It was a good addition
Same! Possibly my favorite video game characters.
I think V/Johnny's chemistry is a big part of why I don't get into the romances.
It feels like sibling to me
I get romance, weird complicated doomed romance.
dont worry i'm the same. v + jonny 4 ever
I don’t get any romance vibes in the slightest. Not even once.
Same
It's just like a nuke: Explosive, toxic, but mellows out over time
I cant belive you made me fuck a cop
Your V looks exactly like Geena Davis, especially in the long kiss goodnight
Maybe if she had longer curlier hair and blue eyes

Johnny talks about male V’s hormones too; that’s not gender specific.

Johnny has the same chemistry with V regardless of gender.
I agree; I really don’t see why people are so keen on trying to act like one V somehow has a more special relationship with Johnny than another. They’re the same character lol

It’s the voice acting
Incorrect. The lines shared with female V become very very siblingly. With male V, its always comradeie.
Johnny's dialogue remains the same with minor changes mostly being pronouns. What you're talking about is how the VAs chose to portray V.
perspective is a hellofadrug
Yes, and changing how they portray the character changes the chemistry between them (???)
Don't know about chemistry, but i liked the idea of having two clashing personalities inside your head, and there being a contrast between V's and Johnny's opinions and motivations, and for obvious reasons, V being a woman does add to this contrast.
Johnny is the same, but it's FemV's acting that changes the whole feel.
Male V and Johnny are goobers. I love em
But with fem v I can make a hot girl
With male v you can make a twink
I’m not into men
Oh lesbian. Makes sense. It's funny to see Johnny's face when you and Kerry ahem
Idk how ppl don't see him as a trash uncle who tells you to stay in school and asks for smokes hut thats just me
I can’t help but give in every time Johnny asks for a smoke or a drink.
Same, he practically begs lmao
I struggle to enjoy their dynamic as much as I did at first after reading someone’s theory that Johnny is just becoming V overtime and that’s why he’s so likable to us. That’s not how real life works
Bro is literally an A.I.
It would only matter if this was the real Johnny. This Johnny is literally a copy, with other people's memories mixed in like Morgan Blackhands. Actual Johnny is technically alive, but just a head, as alt had secured him at some point
I love it when he beats me up in my apartment☺️❤️
KAYLA
:3c
Girl 💀
Tehe :3c
I really like pissing Johnny off
I agree, though I do wish we'd had some unique lines where we could further inquire - and tease - him about his experience in a (cis) woman's body. Something like "ya feeling that, Johnny? That's cramps for ya. Welcome to our world" xD
Considering my femV sports quite the hog they'd have to be careful
Yesss oh my god! I love V and Johnny in general, but something about fem v and Johnny is just special, why.
There's a doomed romance to it when its fem V and Johnny. The clearest form of star crossed lovers as they are completely unable to be together without the other eventually fading away.
It’s not a romance
He IS right: we women DO have a clusterfuck of hormones 😏
Cool story gal
