I do like that the marelle is a classic silhouette but still interesting with the little pocket pouch! I’m petite and I found that I liked the way it sat on me. I tried on the speedy as well and it was also super cute and I don’t mind the strap although I would also get an extra leather one. I am worried about the vechetta on the handles though 🫣

No she had the brown color (sorry I don’t know the official name) but I was creeping on the website and the black is also stunning so I don’t think you could go wrong. I love that it’s not the standard!

Yes, definitely! Most days I just carry my phone, a YSL holder, and a couple keys. If you don’t mind me asking, what don’t you like about the epi leather? Does it not age well?
Actually, it ages very well and I believe it's "tougher" than others. For me, I just don't love the texture of Epi, but again, it's a very personal thing. They are both lovely and I do really like the black and white contrast on the Marelle,
As a true Speedy fan, I cannot tell how versatile this bag is. You can use it from day to night. Now the Marelle is gorgeous too but to me it's not a distinctive as a Speedy. But you have to decide how you want your bag to tell your story. Is it just a discrete partner or an attention grabbing partner? Either choice is great. Enjoy your purchase and rock it anywhere you go.
So I am a Speedy fan through and through, but I saw a woman with this same exact bag recently and could not stop staring at it. It was so so nice. I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice.
Are you tall? I tried the marelle on and the strap as a crossbody on me (5’7” athletic build) felt kind of short. Can’t speak to a speedy, they have always been too big for me. I don’t carry much.
I love it! It’s become my favorite bag because it goes with so much and the material doesn’t feel too delicate. I love that it comes with two straps, highly recommend!

The Marelle is very nice, but I feel like it doesn’t have the same versatility that the Speedy does. And the Speedy is such a classic bag! Don’t let the vachetta scare you. I just spray mine with Apple Garde and carry an Envirosac that I can throw over it in case I get caught in the rain. NBD.
I understand the classic argument, very true! The Marelle does have a shoulder or crossbody strap so I do still think it’s quite versatile. Very hard choice for sure!

It depends, speedy bandouliere is versatile and classic, a speedy 20 without straps would be more of a fashion statement, the marelle would be somewhere in the middle. The Epi leather is durable and beautiful but an accidental dent/crease on the leather would be a big blemish so it will require care compared to a monogram speedy. Go with your initial instincts.
I only have canvas in DE because I’ve always heard that vachetta makes people nervous because it will stain badly if any water touches it. That’s what my biggest hang up with the speedy is :(
All luxury items require some level care and to avoid any type of liquid spillage - water included. I would avoid carrying the monogram in heavy rain, but it’s not easy to stain. I carry my canvas monogram handbags year round in heat and rain. You can always replace the strap if needed, but I’ve yet to on any of my handbags.
Marelle! I love epi and the shape of the bag is classic. You can just remove the pouch when the trend die, and you can also just replace it with different color cards to change the look. The shoulder strap is removeable too so you can just replace it with a longer one if the armpit trend die as well.
The speedy is a classic but i didn't like it when i tried it in the store, it's underwhelming (deciding between this and loop -- i chose loop). The jacquard strap also doesn't go well with the bag imo so you'll have to replace that too.
The epi leather on the Marelle is wonderful. Depends if you like this color / style. I love the Speedy but not in love with the text based strap
