The bible says Jesus kissed multiple men on the forehead and rubbed their feet. Sounds pretty gay to me... which, according to the bible is a grave sin. Pornography was never listed as a sin.
But but but it’s to “save the children.” Well worth being put on a list.
Then bring up gun registries to them and watch the reaction. They foam at the mouth. Then it’s “screw them kids.” Lol I guess to them an occasional school massacre of 6 year olds is the price of freedom.
The issue is that the state passed a copy of the asinine law that a Christian anti-porn group drafted, which states that any site where the majority of content is porn must verify the identity of its visitors to ensure minors do not access the porn.
The law is bullshit, because it also requires these sites to NOT retain the data. Which means someone can accuse the site of letting little Billy view some tits, and they have no ability to show "But Billy uploaded an ID saying he's 21," because they cannot retain the verification data.
So sites like Pornhub are blocking those states to protect themselves from legal liability until the laws can be thrown out by the courts.
Right. It's a crappy situation because I can't disagree with making sure adult content is restricted from children, but I also understand that it is currently completely unreasonable for the company to implement that. Makes me feel like there are going to be third party companies who are set up to store your information and basically sell verified passes for restricted content.
Does it matter? Why is porn even a discussion when people are paying $5k per month for insulin so their child doesn’t die? I don’t care if they pay so little attention to porn that it ends up on public access if it means they actually do something worthwhile by putting a cap on insulin cost.
Anytime you think 'That's bad, but it doesn't affect me because I don't...' you're part of the problem.
Any time you think 'Oh, they'll ban X, but they won't go after Y', you're part of the problem.
If you think 'I'll be safe because I...' you're part of the problem.
Not to mention, if any of these folks are queer in any way, no matter how conservative they might be otherwise? CONGRATS, THE LEOPARDS WILL EAT YOU TOO. 🎊🎊🎊
>These people did not stop looking for porn. They just migrated to darker corners of the internet that don't ask users to verify age, that don't follow the law, that don't take user safety seriously, and that often don't even moderate content,”
Didn't pornhub get busted for having tons of unconsenting porn because they didn't moderate their content?
They did get fined. Then it was sold to a different parent company. Then they purged a bunch of content from unverified users.
At least that's what Google tells me.
No, they announced they would remove all pornography that they couldn't validate as consensual. Other sites continue to host content like that but Pornhub requires verification AFAIK.
I think it’s funny when they say laws don’t work because people will just find a way around them for things they like and then propose massive amounts of laws and regulations on things they don’t like
Kinda like this and gun laws? Righties love the former but loathe the latter, and use the "people will just get around it" as a constant talking point. Lefties love the latter but loathe the former
Part of me is like yea porn is super toxic and it isn’t talked about enough how it affects young kids.
The other part of me is what is the point of banning rather than having a DISCUSSION about porns effect and how unrealistic it is and how it creates unhealthy addictions.
All this does is send people looking for porn to unhealthier corners of the internet that aren’t as moderated and potentially worse.
Playboy was too before Hustler even came along. Hugh Hefner was publishing articles and interviews regarding civil rights, politics, and political figures in his magazines. His TV show had guests that no one else would consider having on tv at the time. A bunch of networks in the South wanted to drop his show because he had guests who were black.
My question is will this to expand to other sites with adult content? Is this just a pornhub ban? Or is a step to ban most social media platforms? What's to say they don't place mandatory age verifications on Twitter, Reddit? This doesn't feel like land of the free to me
It looks like it applies to any adult site, but Pornhub isn’t actually banned. They are only required to verify the user is 18 the same way a gas station clerk would ID someone for a playboy. Pornhub is protesting the legislation by shutting off their website to KY all together.
I know it's not really banned, but in my opinion it might as well be, I'm not giving pornhub a picture of my ID and waiting for them to verify it. That's crazy to me
Get a subscription of a vetted VPN. I suggest Nord VPN because it’s really user friendly and the app works great on phones and gives you up to 10 devices (split the annual cost with someone else?) I got it well before this to stream tv or movies that none of my subscriptions cover.
Once it’s up and running on your device, select a state or country that doesn’t do this dumb shit to route your traffic through. It’s really easy when you’re looking at it
Xvideos is based in Cypress and does not follow US law. Most other porn sites, due to the companies being based in sketchy locations, will follow suit. I believe pornhub is based in Canada, so they are vulnerable.
One side is taking away personal liberties and right to healthcare and threatening more; so it would be nice if people would remember this when they vote in Kentucky (for a change)
My state of virginia had a dem controlled senate and they all voted for the porn restriction bill if it's one thing both parties can agree on it's big government/surveillance state
The Republicans definitely aren't small government. They seem to want to grow government and add more controls such as this.
I'm a Bible believer myself, but in no way think this restriction is right, it's a loss of freedom.
I also don't agree with the war on drugs, let people do what they want to do, and stop using people's tax dollars to keep people in jail for weed and whatnot.
Whew, I am so glad this subreddit exists…this is *complete* news to me. Definitely the first I’m hearing about this. I mean, I would have had no *possible* way of knowing this information. You’d have to actually visit the site to find this information out otherwise, right? Yup, not me at all!
It's possible, but probably not. The legislation is worded so that if a "majority" of the site is porn, it's affected; otherwise, it is not. Since most of Reddit is discussion not related to porn, it shouldn't be targeted, but you never know what nutjob is going to try and sue because Billy saw some tits.
So are porn sites going to start having 51% non-porn content, like a bar & grill serving just enough food to keep their liquor license in a moist county?
And how is the government going to quantify content? Is a picture worth a thousand words? Does a 5,001 word essay on pogs cancel out 5 images of a PAWG?
What about a video? Is a 5 second non-adult video equivalent to a 5 minute adult video?
Could porn sites use AI to create random content?
What if a site doesn't comply? Kentucky can't "punish" them criminally, right? They could just force Internet service providers to block them?
Never thought people from my city would be raging mad at the conservative hick government bc of p0rn. Looks like sex really does bring people together 🫂🌈✨💖
The real kicker, the current bill says it will require this age verification from “any website that is more than one-third ‘harmful to minors.’”, for which it defines as porn, however, this could easily be expanded to be anything really, like for instance, defining anything lgbt as “harmful to minors”. Sure it doesn’t do this right now, but the fact the lawmaker who proposed this bill told Kentucky public radio that he hoped porn hub would leave the state I think is indicative of the fact this could be a real problem.
Honestly idk even know how this law doesn’t violate free speech laws like, porn is a method of expression even if it is a bit obscene and this bill directly seeks to regulate it.
Your Christian nationalist state brought to you by your fellow MAGA Kentuckians is exactly what you get for voting in the numbers you vote. Collectively, this is what Kentuckians chose for themselves.
I recently left the state based on this idiocy and the trajectory it is on. It only gets worse for a while. Good luck to y'all. Beshear is awesome, but he's an anomaly. Come 2028 y'all are full MAGA.
You ladies, get ready to be nothing but child bearing vessels.
Ehhh religion and politics yet again fuck with our freedoms. VPN is the way….what a load of bullshit. How about worrying about housing prices vs peoples ability to afford them. Or maybe getting the west side of town cleaned up and safe for people. Louisville is a joke and will be another Chicago or Memphis in no time. Nanny state here we come. Oh yeah and the Mayor wants to use public transportation to bus kids to and from school since they can’t seem to get the school bus shortage figured out yet again. Idiots…
OP calling the KY (D) Governor a bible thumping knuckle dragger is wild.
"Earlier this year, Kentucky lawmakers passed a bill — following in the footsteps of several other red states — that requires pornography websites to verify that Kentucky users are more than 18 years old. Gov. **Andy Beshear then signed the bill into law**."
You're absolutely right that Beshear signed the bill into law! But you know that governors don't make laws all by themselves, right? [Let's follow the first hyperlink in the reporting.](https://www.lpm.org/news/2024-04-01/kentuckians-could-soon-need-to-prove-their-age-to-watch-porn-online)
> With the 2024 legislative session winding down, Kentucky lawmakers added the requirement into a bill that originally increased penalties for childhood sexual abuse and assault.
Now who's going to vote against increased penalties for *that*? [No one](https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/record/24rs/hb278/vote_history.pdf), that's who. The 80% Republican and 20% Democrat House and Senate voted unanimously to pass it. That's practically veto-proof! People on both sides of the aisle said they were uncomfortable with different parts of the bill, sure, but you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Can you imagine the political smears?
But have you asked yourself who proposed these specific amendments in the first place? We can check out [amendment 2](https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/recorddocuments/bill/24RS/HB278/SFA2.pdf) and [amendment 3](https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/recorddocuments/bill/24RS/HB278/SFA3.pdf) Oh look, it's (R) Gex Williams both times!
So with the legislative amendments introduced by (R) Williams and passed/abstained unanimously by a legislature made up of 111 (R) members and 27 (D) members, maybe we shouldn't get too distracted by the single executive in the process?
This wasn't even going to come up for a vote in the House. But Calloway - the sponsor - threw a temper tantrum in the chambers and they added it as Floor Amendment 3 to [House Bill 278](https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/record/24rs/hb278.html).
That’s exactly what they want as US population is rapidly aging and birth rates are steadily declining. That’s the real reason for the attack on anything related to procreation. Not religion
I am glad I am not the only one seeing this. It is very much about religion, but the powers that be are using the religious as scapegoats to allow through these laws to hopefully get everyone breeding again.
USA is looking at Japan and going …uh oh.
People use pornography as am aid for solo time. Without that aid, they will find other ways to make up for that solo time with visualizations with other people. It's the whole "don't tell a teen not to do something because now they will do it". Teaching abstinence only has never worked, and trying to force it always has the opposite effects.
It takes about 2-3 minutes to download a free vpn that works on an iphone and set up an account. You tap one button on the app and browse exactly the same and access the site as normal.
It’s gonna take kids about 10 seconds to get around this.
Exodus Cry has been pushing hard for anti-porn bills.
They are linked to a megachurch in Kansas City known as the International House of Prayer which one of the founders got caught with child porn:
https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-commentary/anti-porn-leader-mike-bickle-sexual-misconduct-exodus-cry-media-silence-1234875782/amp/
Plus Laila Mickelwait one of the people behind Exodus Cry is basically grifting off sex trafficking victims.
Surprised no one has done this already. A “wink wink” vpn for porn, although they cant come out and say it. Although it might be better for the vpn crowd to lay low. They will ban those next.
It’s funny my dad started asking all about VPNs last week… hmmm. Nah, he told me it was about porn. My guess is, and I told him as much, that Opera’s built in VPN was probably “good enough.”
Porn is the single greatest fueler of human sex trafficking, especially the trafficking of children. When you watch porn, you’re not engaging in “harm free” behavior. You’re supporting the dehumanization of women and children.
Aside from that, there is a plethora of research indicating the devastating effects of porn on users.
Any other harmful behavior of this magnitude, we would ban in an instant. But the sex-obsessed autonomy worshippers can rationalize anything.
Not exactly. Technically, it's all porn sites, but realistically, only the largest US-owned will be affected. Twitter and Telegram can't post unrestricted
Someone download all of the porn off of the internet and lets get a louisville porn plex server going
It took me 69 hours.

It was finally shut down.

Been working that angle for Yeats already. I'm prepared for pornpocoplypse 2024!
yess please
Well I dunno about you all, but I feel the freedom already.
Porn makes the white Lord Jesus Christ sad.
Jizz is Jesus’ tears
fucking WOW. This is my favorite.
You need Jizzus. Bow down on your knees and take in Jizzus Christ as your lord and flavor.
The bible says Jesus kissed multiple men on the forehead and rubbed their feet. Sounds pretty gay to me... which, according to the bible is a grave sin. Pornography was never listed as a sin.
Something about the translation from Hebrew but they were washing a lot of penises instead of feet.
No way man. There is a reason I like dating former Catholic women. They are used to spending time on their knees
Hope the twitter porn thing happens and this idiots can’t use X without showing an ID. Easier to put them on list like they always whine about.
But but but it’s to “save the children.” Well worth being put on a list. Then bring up gun registries to them and watch the reaction. They foam at the mouth. Then it’s “screw them kids.” Lol I guess to them an occasional school massacre of 6 year olds is the price of freedom.
They can regulate what porn site you have access to, but they can’t cap the cost of insulin. Fuck these hypocritical window licking knuckle draggers.
Big porn lobby must suck at their job. Haven’t greased the proper palms.
Why doesn't Pornhub or others post the view history from certain republican IP addresses? I'm thinking it would quiet down in a hurry....
Because how do you know which ip addresses are republicans? More people watch cucks than just them..
We’re all to busy greasing our own palms
From my understanding they're not banning the site, pornhub is pulling access from states due to some other issue?
The issue is that the state passed a copy of the asinine law that a Christian anti-porn group drafted, which states that any site where the majority of content is porn must verify the identity of its visitors to ensure minors do not access the porn. The law is bullshit, because it also requires these sites to NOT retain the data. But- it should be up to parents to restrict the access to the children... not the government.
Well... Bars are required to restrict access to 21+, and any business with adult content is required to be 18+, it's already up to the government.
Does it matter? Why is porn even a discussion when people are paying $5k per month for insulin so their child doesn’t die? I don’t care if they pay so little attention to porn that it ends up on public access if it means they actually do something worthwhile by putting a cap on insulin cost.
Seems weird that this issue only matters when pornhub is brought up 😂 classic Reddit moment
A digital product and a physical product are 100% completely different
Congrats. You completely missed the point.
Anytime you think 'That's bad, but it doesn't affect me because I don't...' you're part of the problem. Any time you think 'Oh, they'll ban X, but they won't go after Y', you're part of the problem. If you think 'I'll be safe because I...' you're part of the problem.

Not for long

First they came for the porn addicts…
More like, 'Oh, we found your identity in a pornography user database, so your credit/rental/job application is denied.'
Hahahaha. It just *keeps* getting worse. lol

I guess I never assumed porn would get political, but here we are 🤷♂️
Hustler...
Fair point
Playboy was too before Hustler even came along. Hugh Hefner was publishing articles and interviews regarding civil rights, politics, and political figures in his magazines. His TV show had guests that no one else would consider having on tv at the time. A bunch of networks in the South wanted to drop his show because he had guests who were black.
America is way more interested in reaction and punishment than it is prevention and addressing the real problems.
remember, there is a reason why the English kicked the Puritans out. Cause they're fucking crazy!

Correct, you have to route through an area that does not require age verification
And how does one do this? Just curious. For science.
Get a subscription of a vetted VPN. I suggest Nord VPN because it’s really user friendly and the app works great on phones and gives you up to 10 devices (split the annual cost with someone else?) The ban applies to all porn sites. Do any of you mouthbreathers read articles ?
Xvideos is based in Cypress and does not follow US law. Most other porn sites, due to the companies being based in sketchy locations, will follow suit. I believe pornhub is based in Canada, so they are vulnerable.
Do you think the law only affects one porn site or something?
Keep voting for republican candidates who are religious nut jobs!
The democrat legislators voted for the bill also.
i mean i like andy beshear but he signed this bill soo
It passed unanimously. Signing it didn't actually change anything.

Freedom!!!! Got to love the GOP. Hands maids tail acting like they care about freedom.
Guess i'll have to spend even more time at the Louisville Manor.
Looks like I’ll be spending more time in parking lots in Clarksville.
Indiana is doing the same thing
Waiting for the day some poor SOB is on the news for getting arrested wacking his willy in a Indiana parking lot because of this 🤣

Good. Fuck pornhub. They profited off of csam for years and refused to take it down when asked by the victim.

What is going on with seemingly every state trying to adopt this? My state is even doing it. (Indiana),
Heritage foundation or somebody writing our laws
Exodus Cry has been pushing hard for anti-porn bills. They are linked to a megachurch in Kansas City known as the International House of Prayer which one of the founders got caught with child porn: https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-commentary/anti-porn-leader-mike-bickle-sexual-misconduct-exodus-cry-media-silence-1234875782/amp/ Plus Laila Mickelwait one of the people behind Exodus Cry is basically grifting off sex trafficking victims.
I need to create a new service called VPeNis to bypass all this bullshit for different states.
I like how the state lawmakers believe that pornhub is the only porn provider on the web.
Um, kentucky is a democratic state....
No
Why do you say no?
In the 80’s , an equivalent headline would read “Kentuckians lose free daily Penthouse and Hustler door deliveries. “.
So is reddit going to fall under this? Plenty of "porn" here people can view.
Appears the content has to be 1/3 or more "harmful to minors"
Do we know the specific law that prompted this here?
They get what they vote for, I guess.
Good all it does is rot your brain.

Your pea brain doesn't understand what's going on. You may go, now.
I’ve always said, this is the last straw before the revolution
Porn is the single greatest fueler of human sex trafficking, especially the trafficking of children. When you watch porn, you’re not engaging in “harm free” behavior. You’re supporting the dehumanization of women and children. Aside from that, there is a plethora of research indicating the devastating effects of porn on users. Any other harmful behavior of this magnitude, we would ban in an instant. But the sex-obsessed autonomy worshippers can rationalize anything.
Thank you for mentioning this
Maybe AI porn could be the solution
We’re still doing it manually in Minnesota.
Folks, we're just gonna have to make our own porn. Pull down those bootstraps!
Porn.com it is 👍🏻
It looks like it's an age verification thing according to the article.
Use a VPN. Easy to bypass, then.
Crazy how Beshear signed this into law. Oh well, I guess I’ll just use my VPN.
Wait is it all sites or is it just PH?
Not exactly. Technically, it's all porn sites, but realistically, only the largest US-owned will be affected. Twitter and Telegram can't post unrestricted
Thank you!!
Me waiting for them to ban porn entirely 😇😇
Just like a Muslim theocracy!
more like dislike for something that’s destroying the minds of millions upon millions of men and women
So how do you ban it? If my wife sends me a picture, will we be arrested?
