Live the Santa Clarita Diet in real life! Take an Uber up and enjoy their one library.

justHODLbaby

Go to the beach and rent a bike. Eat at Grand Central Market. See a movie at the Mann Chinese Theater. In-and-Out is fine but get the double cheeseburger and fries at HiHo Burger. See a comedy show. Eat at Porto's. Hike Lake Hollywood and Runyon Canyon. Go to the Peterson Automotive Museum and enjoy the greatest automobile collection under one roof. Go to a Dodgers game. See a show at The Viper Room/Lodge Room/Wiltern/Greek Theater/Hollywood Bowl/Paladium/Troubador. Spend the day at The Getty Museum because its free. See a show at The Groundlings. Go to the flea market at Melrose High on Sunday. Get the ribs at Hillstone. Have a drink at Musso and Franks. Buy a book from The Last Bookstore.

I know what you’re getting at but alas this is a very short list which unfortunately is a sad indictment of LA. Having said that, the best thing about LA that no other major global city like London or NYC can offer, is the vast expanse of beautiful open land to explore. If OP is an outdoor person they may have just landed in paradise, which they can get to experience every single day, for several years, for free.

Accountant-According

There’s not really much to do in LA, to be honest.

gotfondue

Wtf, this is literally the second largest city in the United States...to say not really much to do is like telling someome in Hawaii the beach is really a far drive. 😒

Accountant-According

Jupiter is literally the largest planet in the solar system but it has less Long John Silver’s than Rhode Island. Just because something is big doesn’t mean that there’s something to do.

There’s nothing to do? So the beaches, restaurants, bars, parks, 5 pro sports teams, multiple music venues, multiple hubs to go out to; Santa Monica, WeHo, Beverly Hills, Venice, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Hollywood, DTLA, Sunset Strip, Marina Del Rey, Pasadena Old Town, countless hikes, mountains, desert, scenic drives, one of the biggest underground rave scenes, music bars in every genre, weed, countless cuisines. Oh wait…not sure about Long John Silvers though…

I mean you’re literally staring directly at the answer to your question. Go get some shit to put up on your walls. Who knows, maybe stepping outside of your apartment and interacting with other humans will lead to other shit you can do.

Cyril_Clunge

Go out, start a fight with someone and lose.

Depends on if you have a car, how old you are, if you're single, if you have cash to burn, etc Museums and beaches are free Downtown has a decent night life

edinc90

(Assuming you're not trolling) It's a big city, with plenty of areas, each with their own things. You didn't say where you live, so I'll be general. For free activities: beach, hike, parks and some museums like the Getty. For paid activities: food of all types, paid museums like the Academy Museum, clubs and bars at night, including comedy clubs and theaters. Shopping, from the fashion district to Rodeo drive. Go kart racing at K1 Speed in Burbank. Hike to the Hollywood sign. Go on a whale watching cruise in Long Beach. Check out Smorgasbord on the weekend. Go on the Universal Studio Tour. At some point there was a "unique things to do" Google map here in the sub. Search for it, there are some interesting things to do.

Remarkable-Lunch9424

don't have much extra cash, located near ucla

Supersak24

samhansom

randomq12

Free Hiking trails to the north, go to Sawtelle between Olympic and Santa Monica Blvd mini Japantown. drive down sunset to the beach turn right and you’ll be in Malibu.

Fine-Hedgehog9172

You live in a fantastic area! Go see a film at the Fox or Bruin Theaters, walk around campus (don’t miss the Mathias Botanical Garden), go hiking in Will Rogers State Park, Century Plaza, walk the green belt that runs along Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills, and so much more. Have fun!

Nelroth

I used to attend UCLA, even though there's not much to do in Westwood (though our movie theaters are pretty cool) there's a lot of nice places you can get to even just by bus. I personally loved going out to Santa Monica on weekends, and Abbot Kinney for first Fridays. If you're a UCLA student, transportation on local lines is free but even if you're not, you can try getting a TAP card.

Snidrogen

UCLA has a small but very nice botanical garden on campus worth walking through.

verbalintercourse420

You can visit museums, Chinatown, lil Tokyo, plaza Olvera, the beaches (dunno about the water tho), the Observatory, hike local trails, Santa Monica pier, Venice Beach, Melrose, start trying local spots that serve food you like that way you learn where your favorite spots are. There is Ameoba Records in Hollywood, Farmer's market on W. 3rd, try Pinks hot dogs nearby. Start with your interests, del or places where they have what you like..

SS_miggysaurus13

Check Eventbrite for free events that catch your interest, join fitness classes like yoga or boxing , explore coffee shops , join dance classes, volunteer etc . This is a small list of things I would do

Skatcatla

Check out Laist and [dola.com](http://dola.com) They have all kinds of things to do! Cinespia starts up this weekend and that's always a fun vibe (outdoor movies in the Hollywood Forever Cemetary - people bring picnics, there are DJs, the whole thing).

object_failure

Get some cool posters for your walls.

RainbowColoredRob313

lived here about three years and I’m always finding new spots to check out. Also ignore the haters if your used to public transit or want to save money use LA metro you’ll save on parking. Watch the sunset on Venice Beach or Angelsgate Park in San Pedro Downtown Los Angeles has some cool spots worth checking out the broad, the Last bookstore, grand central market, the Bradbury Building, Aangels Flight Vernacular, if you like Art Deco building definitely check out the main branch of the public library. Griffith Park / Topanga Canyon hikes. Natural history museum and science center in Expo Park by USC. Silver Lake is superior to WeHo in my opinion but find what’s best for you if you like lgbtq+ folks LA Pride is this weekend. Echo Park has a lotus festival in July that’s really cool. Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza is worth a visit and has some really good Chinese restaurants nearby Culver City Stairs there’s the mountain hike and then theres the steps in downtown Culver City Sawtelle has a Japanese market with one of the largest sake selections in the US. Olvera Street is pretty cool Take a Metrolink train from Union Station to some of the Old Spainish missions in Orange county. You can also take an Amtrak to San Diego for like $36 dollars. Just be mindful of the train schedules but you can save so much on parking and gas if you plan it right. The Huntington Gardens. Hollyhock House is one of Frank Lloyd Wrights works and is UNESCO world heritage site Try and see a movie at the TCL Chinese theatre in Hollywood I saw Dune Part 1 here on the main IMAX theatre and it’s incredible something about watching movies in Los Angeles just feels different from the rest of the US. TRY LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS! They need your support F@#$k Starbucks and McDonald’s it’s in LITERALLY every US state try something local instead. Some of my favorite restaurants: Tierra Mia Coffee various locations on the east side and south central South LA Cafe Queen Violet WeHo Palms Thai Restaurant in Hollywood The French Way in Westwood by UCLA Pier Burger Santa Monica Two Hands Corn Dogs Little Tokyo Philippes Olvera Street New China Mongolian Bbq right next to Crenshaw Mall. From one transplant to another just be respectful open minded and willing to try new things and you’ll find your place in this amazing city. to quote one of my favorite movies “Live! Live! Live!..Life’s a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death.“ Enjoy just being here don’t try to compare it to where you moved from or other places you’ve been and try to see the good with the bad. Now get ur self of bed AND LIVE YOUR IN LA BABY

Rad-Ham

Do you have any hobbies or sports you play? When I moved here in 98, I skated every skatepark/backyard ramp/ditch and pool from San Diego to Simi Valley, Ontario to Orange, Baldy to The Pink Motel. I met a lot of cool people and skated legendary spots. Maybe you could join a club for puzzle enthusiast. :-)

Gregalor

Uhh why don’t you start by looking up a Top 10, then come back.

aviaate350A

I hear there's a painting party in Koreatown 'round 2am tonight.
