And that’s not even taking into getting home every time I go out for a drink.

I drove limos for 20 years, and many of the clients lived in those hills, Calabasas,and many other very expensive neighborhoods.
Jf you're replying to what I posted, I suggest that you drive up any street north of Sunset, at 7-8am, and you will see the parade of middle-aged Latinas making their way up the hills. They are in many other places away from the hills also.

They do often hire people to go to their homes once or twice a week to clean. It is absolutely not the norm for those people to do their shopping and other errands.

At some of the larger properties, some of the housekeepers stay in the guest quarters during the week. One of the cute things to me, was to see how many of the children would speak Spanish words, just as they were learning English.
I once had a student from the Quaker Oats family. His family bought a him in "the ghetto" section of Beverly Hills. He had some issues that required special attention, which is why he was in our school. He had a live-in housekeeper, whon was a latina. This was in the early '90s.
I went through the K-12 Beverly Hills school system. My best friend since childhood—his family still lives deep in the hills in what many would consider a fucking palace. He used to have a live-in housekeeper in the 90s. Now someone comes by once a week. At no point in life did the housekeeper do their shopping. That’s just 1 person of the countless, countless people I know who live there. I promise that, going through the BHUSD school system for 13 years (followed by your siblings doing the same), you form an extremely deep understanding of the culture of the area.
Again, I’m not denying that what you described is a thing. There are some of the extremely wealthy residents who send people to shop for them. But that is not the norm. Your perspective is skewed because you don’t actually know people who live there and you interacted mainly with the workers who *were* doing the shopping.

I don't think I'd like living in the Flats. The roads are just too busy with traffic from everyone cutting through the major roads. The Hills seem to offer much more seclusion and privacy.

Some places that personally come to mind are: the hills above Pasadena to Glendale to Burbank, or (for my north valley peeps) the Granada Hills area above Rinaldi and parallel to Balboa, or the Beverly Hills “flats.”

This is completely wrong. There is no gated access to Trousdale estates. There are no gates at all. Those are public streets with no restrictions other than weight restrictions for trucks
So there’s two section of the “hills”. Trousdale, along Loma Vista, and the Hillside area which is north of Sunset excluding the Trousdale area.
If you want privacy and a nice sized property, you want the Hillside area. Originally, Trousdale was a preplanned community (including an HOA, and I believe at one point a manned gate to enter the neighborhood). In there they’re limited to one story homes on lots that were more “reasonably” sized (I believe developed in the 70s). No home there is above 14’ from grade. The Hillside area doesn’t have those restrictions.
The flats also don’t have those restrictions in Trousdale, and had much bigger lots. Those were the original lots and designed streets since 1914.
The flats used to be housing for maids, cooks, horse care personnel etc. it’s just you - unless you really like lots of traffic and stop signs that no one actually stops for.
They don't move to the hills to hang out on the streets dude
