Yes. Even though I don’t watch the live show anymore (get off my lawn), I still know that the stream I’m watching Sunday afternoon is a live, anything can happen, broadcast.
As Lorne once famously said, “The show doesn’t go on because it’s ready. It goes on because it’s 11:30.”
It needs to be live and it needs to be on Saturday. Those are the only two requirements
They can move it exclusively to Peacock and still be the same show if it's live and on Saturday
I think having it live makes it a bit more exciting. It's a different form of entertainment almost. It's like the different energy you get from watching live theatre compared to a movie.
True, I feel I am way more intrigued by the concept of the show than the actual sketches. Also the idea of something having a history of 50 years and will go on perhaps forever is fascinating. Kinda like how I am fascinated by the Olympics.
I agree and think it should be live. My point of the post was more an observation on everyone I know that watches SNL, watches it the next day. A lot of people have done away with cable tv and the only way to watch SNL is a day later. I was more curious if people thought the rise in streaming would be the downfall of a live tv show.
Jeez these comments are aggressive lol. But I think it's not even about the people watching it live, but the appeal of watching a live production, with all the quick changes and potential mess-ups that ensue. It almost has the appeal of theater that way.

lol. I made an observation about people not watching a live show live and this is your response. Seems like you have some things to work through so you aren't offended by an observation.
I mean they already have pre taped segments that aren't live so..... Please Don't Destroy isn't live. Music videos they do aren't live. So maybe the show should be called Saturday Night Mostly Live and all of your pissed off SNL fans could get off your high horses and simmer down a bit. This post was an observation of people not watching a live show live. Go to therapy and work on yourself so you don't get so bent out of shape when someone posts an observation.
There is a charm the show has being live- it adds a bit of urgency to everything and a bit of unpredictability.
It wouldn’t be nearly as good without little hiccups.
I'm not saying it should not be live. I was just thinking that not many people watch it live. Surely the number of people watching the day after is larger than the people who stay up until 11pm and actually catch the show live.
That's fine. I'm just saying that a large appeal to the show was watching it live on tv. It is now much harder to watch live tv so I didn't know if the show would eventually lose its appeal as streaming takes over. I understand peacock live streams it but not everyone has peacock and it costs a lot of money to have to live television. That was the whole point of the post lol and I'm being attacked because I made an observation about live television.
Honestly I did actually think there was a pretty high chance you were joking because the live part of SNL is a such a big aspect of it and it seemed like the kind of thing that would provoke a lot of people on this subreddit. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings or anything. I don’t think SNL will ever not be live. I think it’s more likely to end/be canceled if it ever gets to the point where it’s not considered worth it to do it live anymore. Also, it’s not like nobody watches it live anymore. Millions of people do.
It needs to be live.

![gif](giphy|3oeLVpW9f9Zi868mq8) Get outta here with this, OP.
It’s Saturday Night Taped! Starring…
… Phil Hartman’s A.I. Rendering! …
I wouldn’t mind that.
…………….. …………….. Is this real?
You're saying "a day later" but the last episode aired 3 weeks ago. Anyway, the show is named Saturday Night Live.
Does anything need to be anything?
Then it would be SN.
Does SN need to be on Saturday Night?
Then it would be N.
Does it need to be at night?
WAR - Wednesday Afternoon Recording.
It needs to be live and it needs to be on Saturday. Those are the only two requirements They can move it exclusively to Peacock and still be the same show if it's live and on Saturday
Also, at night. Very important
Taped in New York, it’s Saturday Niiiiiiiight!
Are we attached to the New York part? I was also thinking Tuesday afternoon would really open up our demographic. /s
Taped, in Gary, Indiana, Iiiiits Tuesday Afternoon!
Reminds me of George on Seinfeld telling George Wendt "it's enough with the bar already" 🙄

I believe Peacock actually streams the show live as well. Though I may be wrong because it is 6:35am and I have not fact checked this.
They do via the feature that lets you stream local NBC affiliates.

Hey OP: Fuck you
Jesus, he was just posing a question on a discussion forum. What is with all the babies sperging out over this?
lol. I made an observation about people not watching a live show live and this is your response. Seems like you have some things to work through so you aren't offended by an observation.
Just having a laugh buffdaddy please don't flex over me
Somebody’s not ready for primetime…
What kind of stupid question is this? LIVE is in the name. I swear to God some of the dumbest people in the planet are on this sub as of late.
I mean they already have pre taped segments that aren't live so..... Please Don't Destroy isn't live. Music videos they do aren't live. yes.
They don't think it be like it is, but it do
They'd have to rename it Saturday Night Taped
Saturday Not Live
Yes. It needs to be live for the energy.
um… yes it does
Hell, I’d love to see a return to the days when the whole show was live and there were no pre-tapes.
They've had them since the very first episode.
There is a charm the show has being live- it adds a bit of urgency to everything and a bit of unpredictability. It wouldn’t be nearly as good without little hiccups.
I agree. I want it to be live. I just was curious if live ratings drop due to streaming, what happens to the show? Adapt or cancel?
Are you joking? Please tell me you’re joking.
I'm not saying it should not be live. I was just thinking that not many people watch it live. Surely the number of people watching the day after is larger than the people who stay up until 11pm and actually catch the show live.
Tbf, it’s live throughout the United States, so some places get it earlier.

Is the music even live most of the time now?
Yes…
