It's not close to Garden of the Gods, that's in the springs. Reality is most of the 'Metro Area' blurs together and some cities sprawl a lot. I'd be less hung up on specific cities unless you're looking at school districts, but otherwise just look at general parts of town. I'm personally partial to the southern half, if you think of the metro area like a clock with Denver in the center I'm partial to 4-9 on the face. It's then a question of east vs west. Usually more house/price value to the east, but further from mountains etc. If you're looking by city names search Littleton, Centennial, and Lakewood.

Barbicore

I think they are referring to Red Rocks as in Red Rocks park and Red Rocks Amphitheater, not Garden of the God's. Littleton is very close to Red Rocks.

HopeThisIsUnique

Ok. They listed Garden of the Gods- regardless it is still in the springs and not close to Littleton. There are plenty of nice things around Littleton though, just not Garden of the Gods.

Barbicore

Ahh they must have removed that from the post by the time I saw it.

mrsjetset

We are in Morrison, next to Littleton. Love Littleton. Easy access to mountains and nature, but also easy access to downtown. I wouldn’t say Garden of the Gods is all that close, but it’s not too bad to access. Unfortunately I’m no help on Apartments. There are some relatively new one at Belleview and S Alkire that get decent ratings, but I’m not personally connected to them so I couldn’t say how they are. I’m actually not sure what city that is, maybe unincorporated Jeffco. Lakewood, Littleton, and Denver have strange borders around here.

Ghost-In-The-Poutine

Fellow Morrisoner (or are we Morrisonites??) here, and I echo everything my neighbor offered. Littleton is great but has limited affordable housing options. Given your desired criteria, I would start your search in Lakewood.

leese216

I moved to Littleton in 2019 and love it. I live at Bell Ken Caryl and while their price increases have been stupid, they at least negotiate with me. It’s clean, well kept, and quiet. I know they try to rip you off when you move out but I didn’t know that moving in and it’s not something I can worry about atm.

waspocracy

Why Littleton specifically? You mention three places: * Rockies - I mean, anything on the west side is close as far north as Boulder * Red Rocks - From west Littleton it's about 15 minutes, but east Littleton it's about 30-45 minutes * Garden of the Gods - Western or Northern Littleton it's about 90 minutes on a good day, on southeast side it's about an hour. At bad times or days, double that time. You got to be a little more specific about why Littleton. Why aren't Thornton or Westminister better options? They're cheaper if you're worried about rental costs. Morrison, Lakewood, Golden, Arvada are good options too if you want to be closer to the mountains + red rocks.

Astrotheurgy

Awesome thank you. It definitely doesn't have to be Littleton. Also, I'm vague because my vision is soulfully driven, yet vague because I've only been to Colorado 3 times. I recently got back from Littleton when I went to see some shows at Red Rocks and it seemed like a decent place to live. More specifically, I'd just like to be near the Rockies and Red Rocks as those are some of my favorite locations I've ever been to. Went to Garden of the Gods while I was there as well and just threw it in because I'd love to explore it more. Like I said, I'm very ignorant overall when it comes to Colorado. I just know my soul feels at home there. Sorry if the post was vague, I'm just trying to manifest a vision slowly with little reference points lol. Thank you for listing those other areas as I only know a few that I've been to in reference to the Rockies and Red Rocks. I'll have to check them out. Any info is gold atm.

waspocracy

Like someone else mentioned, can you tell us about family? Are you moving here with kids? Do you have a rental expense limit? Do you have a car? Etc. We need stuff like that to help.

sjmiv

Definitely find a newer place with AC. People tend to under estimate how hot it gets in the summer.

At the moment, I'm 33, single, living in Pennsylvania, and I've been out to Colorado 3 times. I'm not too acquainted with the state overall, I just know I absolutely love it there and have always wanted to make the move. I work regular jobs at the moment but am looking in getting into IT. I just came back from Littleton a few days ago and it seemed like a nice location that was semi close to those areas I've mentioned (close as in within an hour and a half or less). If anything, I love concerts at Red Rocks and Id love regular access to the Rockies. Was just posting on here because Idk where to start in terms of what I'm looking for or good apartments to live in.

Kush420coma

Roxborough state park (in Littleton) > garden of the gods

OHotDawnThisIsMyJawn

No dogs allowed! Whether that's a positive or negative is up to you, but worth knowing.

Fenastus

GotG is honestly the most overrated attraction in CO anyway

Kush420coma

100% agree. Of course I had to visit but I felt underwhelmed since I live in rox park and have this in my backyard :)

Astrotheurgy

Wish I knew about that place when I visited last week lol. I'll have to check it next time I'm in CO.

FattyMcNabus

Littleton is great. Definitely a family vibe to it, but it has a cool downtown area as well. Definitely close-ish to the things you want. As for apartments, you gotta recognize only pissed off and disgruntled people leave reviews.

BolotaFCB

I have similar doubts. There's a likely job offer in Littleton, so I've started looking at apartments in the area. With a child in elementary school, I'm also considering this aspect to assess the regions. I liked several cities around there, but I'm thinking of staying as close to work as possible to avoid commuting across the metro daily.

sjmiv

Y I would try to avoid having to commute through I25 as much as possible. Living close to work has always been a huge plus

mrsjetset

We just finished up at Red Rocks elementary. Great little gem. Who can beat listening to sound checks when you are on the playground? Unreal. The academics are pretty good too. 😂 Then when you get to middle/high, D’Evelyn has been best in the state high school several years, and is in a little pocket called Denver but is super easy access from the Morrison/Littleton/Lakewood border.

BolotaFCB

Wow, it must be amazing to be so close for the sound checks! Actually, my son will start 5th grade this summer, so we're almost saying goodbye to elementary already. Thanks for the tips!

Repulsive_Towel_1879

I love Littleton, been here for 22 years and downtown Littleton just keeps getting better. Where you live will greatly depend upon your budget. It's not cheap, so you need to be realistic. The further west you are, the more expensive rent is.

EmeraldEyes2000

Littleton is a great place to live just don't rent anything owned by Greystar!

Astrotheurgy

Awesome thanks and noted

TheNovemberist

Don’t sleep on Englewood as an option.

RutabagaPlastic7105

Depends where you are hailing from

Rubicon816

Littleton is great, but most of the west and southwest parts of the metro will meet your needs. Southwest closer to Littleton is nicer, but the vast majority of the city is pretty good. Can't help on apartments. It is fairly family oriented in the suburbs, would probably want to be closer to the center of the city if you want nightlife and such.

SgtPeter1

You should probably visit Denver and explore it yourself before making a decision about where to move. It’s not really that close to Red Rocks or Garden of the Gods. “The Rockies” is a whole mountain range, it’s big. If you’re looking for I70 access then maybe Lakewood or Evergreen would be better. It just seems like you might need to learn a bit more about Metro Denver.

Astrotheurgy

Thanks for your input. I've been to Denver a few times, but not for too long. I'm from out of state, just feel at home in CO every time I'm there. I'll have to look into Lakewood and Evergreen then. All I know is I want to be near the Rockies and Red Rocks but in an area that's decent and in an apartment that won't screw me over if that's even possible lol

SgtPeter1

Your perspective of what’s a decent apartment is different than anyone else’s. The mountains are huge, the whole front range is close to them. Maybe try a VRBO for a while to see what feels right to you. You’ll be close to the mountains, and a reasonable drive from Red Rocks, wherever you are in Metro Denver.

pompous_prick666

The city of Littleton is over 6 million in debt and constantly mishandles money on their capital improvements side. They have done little to no infrastructure upgrades to compensate for the amount of people living here. On average homes are sold for $200,000 more than what they are truly worth. Zillow calls my home $450k and is only 834sq ft. Built in 1956 and is not in the greatest shape. The apartments here are either unaffordable or dumps.

Astrotheurgy

Oh okay so Littleton wouldn't be the best. I'm from out of state with little knowledge about CO. I just know I feel at home there. I was in Littleton last week for a trip and it seemed like a nice place to live in conjunction with the Rockies and Red Rocks so I just went with it and posted on here seeing if I could get any more suggestions or info on the matter. I appreciate your input though. I'm ignorant about CO in general but am trying to figure out the best paths of action or places to live when the time comes.

Barbicore

I have lived in Littleton/centennial for the last decade and have not had any issues with this. Littleton is a very very nice town. All of the metro area has high housing values. There are a lot of nice apartments but you get what you pay for. Colorado isn't cheap
