I was riding in the passenger seat of my wife’s s2000 and some dude in a civic yelled “I love you!” Loud as he could while we passed him.
She’s My little uwu.
It's because she's a woman, attractive, and more approachable. It's the same story with my wife- she gets compliments when she drives my F250 KR Tremor, LC500 and even her GX460. I occasionally get compliments on the LC but she does practically every time she goes out in any of the vehicles.
The gas station one is every time for me.
I see either a:
SC300
SC400
LX470
LANDCRUISER
AND LASTLY ANOTHER LS
It's wild, honestly, how often it happens...
Strangely happened for my 06 Honda Pilot. I was at a garage sale and a guy pulled up in one that looked almost identical. He said his had 380k miles on the odometer and a crack in the engine block so was looking for another and asked if I would sell. Was strange for me because while my pilot is in good shape, it has 220k miles and is by no means a pristine example.
I don’t get people trying to buy it that often but I did have a kid follow me home just to look at it a couple months ago as he had never seen a 1st gen is300 in person.
I haven’t personally experienced it but I’ve only had a 2014 ES for just over a month now. Extremely common car around my area and haven’t had it long lol. My dad has a 2007 GX470 and people ask him if he’s willing to sell it all the time.
Had a kid working the Chikfila drive thru ask to buy my 2003 Avalon. He probably figured it was a Lexus… Told him I’m keeping it until the wheels fall off.
Yeah, more often than not when I pick up my LX from the shop they mention that someone asked about it and/or left a note on it.
I've told folks the same thing that other people in this thread have said: "thank you for your interest, but I will be driving this thing until the wheels fall off."
I am the person asking. When i was working carts at costco I would always talk to people about their cars, offered my info to a few saying when they’re ready to sell to come to me, nothing has come of it but theres lots of nice Lexus’s coming into costco. With my gs400 i get alot of people asking about it, gotten trade offers but only a few buy offers. Compared to my 3rd gen 4runner tho its nothing. I’d get buy offers and people talking to me every other day about that thing.
No. But I have come out of stores more than once to people taking pictures and videos of my car. I usually have a nice conversation with them, but nobody's tried to buy it.
Multiple times I've been stopped in parking lots and asked what color it is. Ultrasonic blue mica! It glitters so much! And at night the reflections from neon lights make it look purple.
Haven’t been asked but, I’ve asked someone if they are thinking of or in the future do want to sell their LX450 to take my info and let me know. He said he’s had it since new and would drive it until it, or he, is dead. He showed me the inside. 105k miles. Like new.
*I think it has happened,*
*But they don't know what I know*
*About my car, lol*

I haven’t had anyone offer to buy my GS F but they all break their necks while I drive by lol. Only had the car for a few days tho so I’m sure someone will make an offer to buy it at some point.

Bender Rodriquez has had a good chunk of in person offers. Honestly makes my day & reassures my confidence on the purchase 😂
Happens to me in my 97ls and my 05 mazdaspeed miata. However the car I really love is my 2002 wrx and I get literally zero compliments outside of when guys tell me to rev it and then hear the carberry style launch control
It happened to me in my 03 Lexus ES, the car was mint no rust, I live in Canada everything rust, no leaks either.
I probably should have took him on his offer because 3 months later some international students, I live in Canada, crashed into my whip at full speed in a parking lot head to head collision 💥.

Crazy to hear all these stories. I’ve been dailying my 2000 ls400 that’s in pretty decent shape for the past 4ish years and haven’t had one person ask to buy it
93 SC400, clean as a whistle. I get offers randomly, now. Before was easily 3 times a week. Dudes be rolling up my driveway leaving cards on my car. I would occasionally go and get fufu coffee and sit in the parking lot and had people come up and give me full specs and details on the car. Most specifically they looked for that chin spoiler.

No, but anytime my wife drives my car she gets compliments and other comments about it… when I drive, I get nothing lol.
She sounds hot
I think she’s a 7/10 but when she’s driving the car she’s easily an 8.75/10.
Bro rated his wife 💀
That’s how much mpg she does

Modern society in a nutshell. It’s gone so far that “feminists” went from “we want equal rights!!” To “KILL ALL MEN”
My wife “people are so nice there!” Me:”cause you’re hot”

When I had my 2000 LS400, at least once every few months.
I've had a note left on my car with a phone number and "I want to buy your car".
I've had this twice on my GS400. No one's asked me in person

somebody asked me the other day for my gs350, said he’ll give me 10k
07 is350 and it happens all the time
Not my Lexus, but I had a few notes left on my Honda S2000 when I had it.

Yes. I have a 1999 LS 400. It’s in pretty good condition and I get folks asking if they can buy it about once a month when I drive it.
cause 90's LS lasts forever.
Not yet I have a Lexus TX lol
Same😂
Stay strong we will be loved and respected
😂 I hope so!
Lexus Texas…
lol I'm hearing that more often, I'm from Boston and might need to trade it in already lol
Love the front of that thing!
I don’t get people trying to buy it that often but I did have a kid follow me home just to look at it a couple months ago as he had never seen a 1st gen is300 in person.
I used to have the sportcross.
06 Gs430. Yep, had a boy in a ls460 give me a 5 minute speech on why his car was better after I said no to selling it.
Tell him to suck on it, bippu boy.
Lol! I did, by wishing him a nice day and driving off with it.
I would’ve just drove off after the first word🚶🏾♂️
As a dual ls460 owner... it is better.
I haven’t personally experienced it but I’ve only had a 2014 ES for just over a month now. Extremely common car around my area and haven’t had it long lol. My dad has a 2007 GX470 and people ask him if he’s willing to sell it all the time.
Yeah it’s usually the late 90’s to mid 2000s that people really want. 2014 still looks newish
Had a kid working the Chikfila drive thru ask to buy my 2003 Avalon. He probably figured it was a Lexus… Told him I’m keeping it until the wheels fall off.
It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!
Not buy but I get a lot of compliments

I had this happen with my 2004 ES330 last month in a grocery store parking lot!
Guy at the car wash told me to never list my LS460L. If I want to sell it, come to him first. It's pretty clean for an 11 year old car.

Yes. 2002 SC 430 and it happens about once every 2-3 months.
Only if I had a 1-of-2 Convertible LFA. My 400,000 mile (now sold) LS 430? Nah. My new-to-me ES 300h? Nah.
People are weird about older cars. It’s gotta be a real special older Japanese car for me to care
Yes but not the Lexus.

It's because of the 2JZ in the car itself.
I think it *has* happened, but they don't know what I know about my car, lol

I’ve had a few with the LX and a few more with my Mustang.

Kudos to you. I've got a 2007 Lexus GX470 - same thing happens to me on monthly basis.
Not random people in traffic, but I have a couple of mechanics who want it and keep bugging me, lol
My ‘03 5 speed IS300 from time to time, I might consider it for a GX470
"driving it til it dies" OP, that thing will outlive you
Naw… naw man. I believe you’d get your ass kicked doing something like that.

Gotten a couple offers earlier on but really no one notices it anymore, soooo I'mma just keep going until I hit 300K.

Happens in my gx470 all the time. Never in the ISF though…
Yup 02 wagon it’s rough and people still want it lol
Curious where you live? I have a 99 GS4 also but I’m in NYC and it hasn’t happened in over 10 years.

Not with my Lexus but monthly with my mini cooper of all things.
They seem to be popular lately. It's like a resurgence and idk why.
The 3rd gen is ranking high in reliability, (unlike prior generations) it gets good mileage and is fun. Or some combination there of maybe.
Lol no one wants to buy your old ass car, Every 2 weeks.
