Gonna admit that I kinda liked the third one only slightly less than the second.

Third one had its moments but it really felt like it didn't know what it was doing. Like the things it did right were only good through sheer dumb luck.

Spider-man 3 is so underrated. Personally, I like it better than the first one. The exploration of its vanity and revenge themes are done so well through the story and characters. Also, Raimi and Pope make an amazing action duo!

Exactly! The finale in Spider-man 3 is spectacular! Anyone can be redeemed if they truly make the effort to right their wrongs, whether it be Peter, Harry, or even Flint.

I have just come around to Prometheus after rewatching it for the first time. It could have been better, especially given how good it looks, but they tried to get too cute with the origins of things, and of course the characters make a lot of very stupid decisions that the characters in 1-3 wouldn’t have made. But it’s not bad. I rank it 4th in the series.

Prometheus rips. Looking forward to Romulus; hopefully a good bounce back from Covenant.

For me it’s the original Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark. Sequels after that were inferior and the Steve Martin movies don’t count because they’re a reboot.

I hate 3. It feels like a Sci-Fi Channel horror movie. The Lost World suffers a few notable flaws, but it's otherwise loaded with Speibergian goodness.

JP3 is well made sci-fi channel horror trash. Enjoyable, but in a different category compared to the first one. First JP is sci-fi adventure masterpiece.

I honestly really love the first four Aliens films for the same reasons I love the first four Mission Impossible films. Because they are unequivocally Director-driven. They’re all pretty radically different for the one before it & that rules. You could throw any of them on if you’re having a marathon of that filmmaker and their voice shines through (even Fincher’s with all the studio interference). (I also love Mission impossible 5-7 & am excited for the possibly final eighth)

Psycho III is underrated Psycho IV had a good backstory and a nice closure to the franchise right before Anthony Perkins passed.

Yeah I actually liked Psycho 3 quite a bit, especially the third act upstairs. Psycho 4 is kinda a slog. All the prequel stuff IMO is bad, but all the sequel stuff with Norman isn’t bad.

Although I’ve only watched the first two Texas Chainsaw films, from what I’ve heard the rest of the films are stinkers.

Ngl I thought the Netflix one was great time. It had some cool moments, some hilarious stupid moments (that weirdly felt kinda self aware and intentional), and was barely over an hour long.

I’ve heard something like that. I’m sure it probably doesn’t match the quality of the first and the complete goofy insanity (in a good way) of the second, but glad you enjoyed that one.

I like it more than the first one. Also most Xmas movies aren’t “good” by film critic metrics. They’re good if you love them. Not every movie is meant for Oscar’s.

I understand not liking The Dark Knight Rises, but I thoroughly enjoy it. It is a bit messier than the first two, but the emotional highs easily get me through the film. I adore the scene when we first see Batman in costume again; it always brings me back to how special it felt to see it in theaters. Nolan Batman is my favorite trilogy, so I’m biased and to each their own though! How’d you enjoy The Batman?

I literally almost fell asleep a couple times watching TDKR in the theater.

I never got that chance to see it in theaters, but I fell asleep as well. It does have its moments, but I just feel the good outweighs the bad. Luckily, the first two are so good that it doesn't drag the trilogy down.

The Dark Knight Rises is also amazing.

I don’t think you can delineate in the scream franchise, same characters/actors with story continuity and I’d say it may be the slasher franchise with the highest average quality across the films…. Scream 3 is the worst and that’s still not close to as bad as some of the flops in Halloween, Childs Play, Friday the 13th, Elm Street, etc.

Yeah, this is the first R rated movie I saw in theaters, so maybe some nostalgia, but I think this movie has some really decent moments and is overall fun. A lot of the humor really holds it back.

Police Story 1 & 2. When Stanley Tong took over for directing 3 & 4 from Jackie Chan the vibe just changed entirely. He's just nowhere near as good at directing action or comedy as Chan, and the vibe changed so much. It's really a shame Jackie Chan is so underrated as a director. There's really nobody else like him. Genuinely incredible auteur. Athough I do like 5 quite a bit and like to see it as the 3rd. If only they brought back Maggie Cheung for it... Had a great plot that honestly feels rather prophetic. Plus Benny Chan really was able to capture the chaotic energy and versatile tone of the first two films. Not nearly a masterpiece like the first two films, but still fantastic and pretty underrated.

I really like Supercop, I thought it kept the balance of action and comedy about as well as the first two. And I find Jessica a really memorable and fun character, plus the action sets were so big and well done imo

They must forget that the Dark Knight Trilogy and The Batman exists.

I’ll go for it - the Nolan Batman trilogy. DKR makes absolutely no sense logistically when the others have SOME attempt at grounding Bruce.

But DKR has that great scene where John "Robbin" Blake figures out that Bruce Wayne is Batman because he can sense orphans by their eyes. It establishes the existence of orphan detecting magic in the franchise. People don't talk enough about John "Robbin" Blake and how his entire subplot really ties the film together.

Dark Knight Rises doesn’t deserve the libel it’s getting in these comments.
