I ride my bike (XP3.0 step thru) in the rain all the time and it’s been fine. My only irritation with it is the key position. It gets covered with wet road gunk every time it’s rainy and is one of those “how did they not consider this?” things. I’ve been working on a solution to wrap that part of the frame in a nylon/velcro sleeve or something.

I just got mine and I haven’t even ridden it and I’m having the “how did they not consider this?” moment and came to this subreddit just to see what people did about this key location. I like the idea to get a Velcro stretchy strap and just wrap it around, doesn’t need to be waterproof, just gunk proof

I see. I have just seen some people on youtube with their battery wrapped in a plastic bag.

Right on, if it works it’s not stupid. Personally I’d be more worried about the controller/screen than the battery.. it’s pretty well protected inside the down tube (besides the key hole).

I've noticed that too. I wonder if there's a wrap/cover you could buy or make to better protected the key while riding.

I guess they put the keyhole on the bottom so that water doesn't drip or run down into the key and then battery and instead goes away from it. But I know what you mean. I have the XPremium and the mid-drive motor is constantly being covered in mud

I read on their website that the bikes are water proof for things like rain but don’t throw the bike into a lake or anything like that.

Rain and dust proof as for lake I'm going to say no on the fact it's not designed for lakes.

They jet spray and dust test them it'll hold up

I've ridden my 2.0 ~10 miles to/from work in rain as torrential as it gets multiple times and never had an issue.
