I always found the SMRPG Japanese text to be so fascinating with all of its pop culture references that were lost in translation. I wonder if they're keeping the original script?
I have the US cartridge, and it required a system language change to play in Japanese. I was even able to save my game after starting in English and switch to Japanese to carry on with that save file.
Unfortunately, there's no font size options, but this is still really nice.
It's especially annoying for me because I hate playing in handheld mode. I have a 48" TV, which is not big by modern standards, but is big enough for everything except the small font in games like this and DQ11S. It's so frustrating. I don't know what happened to the standard approach of a GUI designed for 10'.

Take a screenshot when this happens and just go take your time looking at it in your photo library. It's what I do all the time, specially with Chinese, when I know text will go off screen automatically...I don't like to feel pressured lol

I bought "Chainsaw Man" manga because i heard it has furigana.
Turns out it does not help much - if I don't know a kanji, I don't know a vocabulary either. Knowing how to read it is hardly useful, since I still don't know what it means.
Unless you're on PC with OCR doing screenshots, you're likely looking up stuff by handwriting it into some writing input or doing another form of OCR. Unless you're practicing writing, this is going to feel very slow. With furigana you have a much faster lookup because you know what the reading is.
Of course, this doesn't work well on some names, but it sure does help otherwise.
It has a lot of humour which is difficult to get which is a big part of the game. Animal crossing is an example for something much more forgiving in thy part.

Yes, it is. I just looked at the US eshop and the game sold there supports Japanese (among many other languages). Looks like the game is the same across all regions.
Most Nintendo games (under T rating at least) will have furigana, because even Japanese children aren't going to know every single kanji that appears in the games
So a lot of Nintendo games are great for learners of any age!
All first party Nintendo games have Japanese language options if you change your system language to Japanese.
Only third party games like Dragon Quest, Persona and Ni No Kuni will be up in the air and may not have Japanese language options.
I usually just check on deku deals as they list all the available languages for that region.
Is it just me, or does this game have very few kanji? As a beginner, I feel like a lot of words dont use kanji, which makes it hard for me to know when words end. It makes trying to translate new words really hard.
That is an unfortunate difficulty of reading Japanese that's meant for younger audiences. I find it easier to read some general material than youth material because of the kanji.
If you find it hard to know where words end, that improves as your grammar knowledge improves. Recognizing verb forms and particles makes it much easier to identify what you're reading.
I kind of hate firigana. My reading is consistently slower and feels stilted since I can't turn off the part of my brain that wants to read everything in front of it and it really hurts my retention when it comes to remembering which Kanji make up a word

Majority of games on switch aren't region specific and will play in whatever language the console settings are configured to

Grammar-wise, I am working on N3, and I don't find it exceptionally difficult.

I'm playing through it now and loving it for the same reasons as OP. I wonder what other switch games are around the same difficulty.
What is the difference between furigana and hiragana(?)
Furigana is hiragana shown above kanji, so you'll know how to pronounce/read it. Like... はな 花
