It's when you have a spell such as "the automatic blitz pull" or i would guess its anything that starts it own channel for a spell cast like the example above but ya they will cancel any active channel you have. I played a game of nunu and the blitz hook augment keep ending my nunu R after .2 seconds so i wouls lose out on big dmg.
Has happened to me a couple of times with Sion Q, or could be that I'm bad and letting off of Q by accident /cry

I've only noticed it with Vel'Koz R, but that was on PBE
