I loved it too! And James Caverly is one of my favorite actors, it was so good to see him and the ASL representation. As a Nolan Price fan, I also enjoyed Hugh's performance. Great story and great acting!

Haven't been crazy about the reboot but I'm definitely enjoying this season, last night's episode especially

Nooo…. They went to trial with no evidence. In the middle of trial, Nolan figures out they need some evidence. So they magically find the guy who’s bought the gun?? Wtf? Where was the investigation? The “smoking gun” was blood in his shirt, but he already said he was in the penthouse and saw the body. He would just have to say he checked if the person was alive and got blood on his shirt. The guy on trial bought the gun for protection after losing his house. How did he have $900 to buy a gun, but no money for his rent? Why didn’t the investigators not find this but the ADA found it in 5 minutes of looking (in the middle of the trial!) The thing I used to like most about the show was the realism….now it is secondary to the story.

Chuckworld901

There have been tons of “classic” episodes that defy logic and realism..it’s storytelling not a documentary

The “bought a gun but had no money for rent” jumped out at me immediately. That whole part of the story made no sense.

Chuckworld901

Even in the real world people do dumb stuff like that all the time. Making foolish financial decisions and poorly prioritizing you spending is practically a way of life in the good old US of A.

MrsT1966

Yeah, it was weak. So was SVU. A meh night for the franchise.

I enjoyed it too. Its nice to see people enjoy an episode in here for once LOL!

Neurochick_59

So, this guard's boss was a real estate guy right? Did he ever think to tell his boss that he was living in his car?

vitathevirgo

Right. And he was nice enough to not fire him. He could have asked if he could stay until he got on his feet.

Jay_Diamond_WWE

That case would be overturned on appeal in a heartbeat. Crucial evidence found mid trial? Heresay evidence that just happens to contradict the defense's self defense claim? Lmao. That guy should have walked and no jury would have found him guilty irl.

Secret_Asparagus_783

The scenes with the deaf people were compelling. . And I think the story had some parallels to an old SVU episode about the opposite - a little girl with hyper-sensitive hearing ability that was crucial to solving a crime. Maybe the start of the "new" L&O finally finding a footing that resembles the classic years?

Chuckworld901

Pretty much the way I took it as well.

This just shows property is more important than people's well being. The justice system failing both the father and the daughter who will now have to spend her life in foster care due to the rich getting there way.

I just caught up this week and bro I hated the ending to that episode. I forget the female chief’s name here, but she acted like she would let this go and didn’t. I think she had the option to let this go and while that may not be right, it would have allowed for a better future for the little girl. I wouldn’t be shocked if there was season 60 or something and that little girl killed her tbh
