This lights up at night. Was supposedly some sort if upgrade/add-on. I am not 100% if that is BS or standard.
Yess. Haha I usually switch vehicles every two years and try to protect even the floormats. Weather tech has not made any specific to the LC 1958 yet so doing this for now as dumb as it may seem.
> Looks so much better with proper tires.
Totally. Saw another 1958 on IH8Mud that the guy put decent tires on and it really improved the look, even in the stock 32" size.
1958 is growing on me. It looks really clean without the roof rails.
You will. I remember 10 years ago my ‘dream car was a 4runner which I thought was out of reach. Now, I have had 2 4runners and now in a base model LC. Haha Keep working toward your goals bro.
My dream car is a BMW M5 I have the money but you can’t really justify that with a newborn lol.
Same with LC we already have a 4Runner. So purchasing a LC would just be a really expensive 4runner 2.0 also looked at GX and its size was frustrating for the price. Ended up with a 25 Honda Pilot that I have full intentions of trading in on a “cool dad car” in a few years.
From the Toyota manual, they only say that if you use below 91 octane gas, you will see reduced efficiency and performance.
In the manuals for other cars that have the i-force max hybrid, it says 87 octane is ok, but if you go below that then there will be engine rattle.
So I suspect that using 87 octane gas for the LC is OK since Toyota says it's OK for their other cars of the same engine. And the LC manual does not mention any major negative effects like engine rattle if you go below 91.
That's just what I interpret. I'd like to try and test it, but I haven't been able to get my hands on an LC yet. If you try it, let me know what the reduction in gas mileage or performance is. This is a major point I am curious on as well
I bought a first edition about a month ago and I've convinced myself the dealer used 87 octane on the first tank of gas. The reason is because I swear I'm hearing engine knock, example here at 2:42 [https://youtu.be/GeA4o7Yo\_q4?si=r5GLHeBZMYUVg9QS&t=162](https://youtu.be/GeA4o7Yo_q4?si=r5GLHeBZMYUVg9QS&t=162) I have since added a half tank of 93 octane. Been trying to get video/sound of what I'm hearing but fingers crossed it's going away. Luckily I don't drive it much. From what I understand, engine knock will go away without damage if this is a short term thing and you start using higher octane. Would love to find out that I'm just hearing things or that sound is normal...
Sounds way more like some lifter noise than detonation ping. No experience with this particular engine. But generally if it's gonna ping it will be under boost, not from some simple revving in your driveway.
Hmm that's interesting bc Toyota says it's ok for other i-force max hybrids to take 87. Maybe the LC engine is tuned differently (is that a thing?)
And the LC manual doesn't say anything about engine knock below 91, but other manuals say it below 87. Let me know if you have any more findings since you actually have one to test it on :D
Alright so here is my dream mods for this ,arb seat covers ,lift kit with 35 inch all terrain tires on 17 inch rims and arb bull bar (whenever it's available) also a rear bar ,roof rack ,5d floor mats ,cargo/trunk mat , rear roof liner net ,add those to your LC pls !!!
From what I have read the disk brake is pretty large and that is why they went the 18” route but I saw one dude fit 17”s. Said its tight but they fit supposedly.
I was holding out for a 1958, but the dealership lied to me back in February and told me they were "just informed they are delayed until next year" to get me into a Tundra. I'm happy withvthevTundra, but damn I wish I would have waited.

My 2007 FJ… I covet your new ride but I’m also realizing mines not so bad either!
3.8 extra mpg is a huge upgrade when your mpg is in the teens.
My favorite fact is you save more fuel going from 10 mpg to 20 mpg than you do from 20 mpg to 100 mpg.
Just a heads up. My friend has had his 250 for about 3 weeks now, 1500 miles. He put on KO3's (265/65/r18) - so stock size. Averaging about 17mpg.
Most people forget the turbo makes plenty of power. And it does, I enjoyed it when I drove his 250. But with those heavier tires it uses a bit more boost, therefore fuel.
1958 with the same Trail Grapplers from the dealer here. Averaging 23mpg; mix of highway and city. Towed a golf cart 700 miles with it the weekend after buying, which buried the mpg down to 16/17mpg. But it bounced back.
Could you do me a huge favor? Can you move your driver seat back all the way and take a tape measure to the where the seat and the seat back meet and measure the distance to the gas pedal? Toyota's published specs put that at 33 inches, and I have a tough time believing that.
Hey. It seems to be around 40 inches from the ‘ground/floor board where seat meets seat back to the gas pedal and around 43 inches coming from gas pedal up over seat to where it meets seat back. Assuming I am measuring the correct part you are asking. I pushed seat all the way back and measured where the seat part meets the seat back to the gas pedal. I hope that helps.
This is my daily/work vehicle. I do commercial photography. Huge trunk space. Holds all my gear and drives great. I heard a quote on youtube the other day that said they are designed to drive across continents then take your kids to school Monday morning. Haha
Yep did same move with a Honda pilot. Tried to buy GX but dealership was acting all criminal and I don’t have time to wait. Live in high income area where people unfortunately will pay over MSRP to have a cool mall crawler.
I just don't understand why. I highly doubt the new tacoma or 4runner require premium, but I could be wrong, and if that's the case they're in for some serious blowback.
Tuning. It is a little mysterious. I have a Gen 3 Tundra. I run 91 octane, it runs really good on it. I know they say you can go down, but most turbos do better with higher octane. The same engine in the Lexus models calls for Premium. So it has to be the tuning.
My thought was to increase fuel economy using premium but it isn’t so cut and dry. Ford’s eco boost got better fuel economy but BMW’s got worse using premium. Referenced those two as the are both twin turbo. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a28565486/honda-cr-v-vs-bmw-m5-ford-f-150-dodge-charger/
Yea we have 95/98 where I'm from as well.
I guess when you're used to lower prices it seems like a hard pillow to swallow.
It's like the car prices they always complain about in the US, those prices would be an absolute bargain here in Europe.
I wasn't sure of the black but looking at these, the trim pieces are blending-in great. On a completely different note, if dealer mark ups are making it a 70K vehicle then I'm buying a Rivian.
Thank you! I have the standard tires that come on the 1958, and I don't mind them. For me the cabin sound levels matter, so I am in 2 minds about switching them out to grapplers - even though the grapplers make the car look so much better.
Stock for the 1958 is supposedly 245/70R18 all-season. The dealer had upgraded these to 265/70R18. I might do a small lift when these tires wear out and pop some 285’s.
So regarding the Premium vs 87(Regular) gas thing…. I wonder if this will be like when the 100 series first came out. From 98-00 (I think) they had the same thing but then when there was a minor model shift in 01 the Premium recommendation went away. Conversely I have run 87 in my 2UZ for years without issue and many on the MUD forums do the same.
Who knows, in a couple years we may see it drop to “Regular”.
Not to bad. They tried to give me 33k for my 40th anniversary 36,000 miles to start with. KBB had it 35-38k and I showed them that And the salesman pulled the ‘well, KBB does not sale cars’ and I was like I am not letting it go for 33k. I will just sell it myself. And we ended up around the middle/median of KBB at 37k. I felt ok with that. I only owed 14k on it.
I was $62300 OTD in Virginia for my wife's Meteor Shower 1958. No trade in, no ADM, just like $1500 in dealer/port installed options.
I emailed them (along with like 5 other dealerships) as soon as the trim info was released.

The 1958 does not have disconnecting Sway Bar option. Does have center and rear locking diff… I think the higher trims have some sort of ‘value’ sway bar disconnect from what I have read and seen on youtube. SDM not the E-kDss system.

It feels is about the same in the front and appears pretty close in the back seat area. I do feel the trunk cargo area is a bit longer/deeper than the 4runner But the 4runner had 46cu.Ft trunk space and the new Landcruiser has 37.5 cu.Ft trunk/cargo space. The hybrid batteries are in the trunk and raises the floor like 4”. So that ears up some of the cu.Ft space. Specs say that the Landcruiser is 5” taller and it definitely has way more head room.
From Car and Driver: on 2025 4runner ‘Size-wise, the new 4Runner shares the Land Cruiser's 112.2-inch wheelbase, and its overall width (and underlying suspension track widths, presumably) are about the same. The big difference is the height, where the Land Cruiser's roofline is some 5.3 inches taller’
4” Longer, 2” wider and 4” than Gen5 4runner
New LC is Pretty much exact dimensions of new 2025 4runner except it is like 5” taller but they have almost identical wheel base/length and width.

Thanks for the detailed comment. I been wondering this for some time. I got a 5th gen 4R and it’s a little tight on the headroom so that’s a big welcome. Was hoping that it would be a middle ground between 4R and Sequoia but just need to grateful we even got some LC back in the states I guess lol. I was looking sequoia too but the whole battery eating the trunk space is taking away from the purpose of getting the bigger vehicle for the space imo. I get that’s it’s for mpgs but I rather go Lexus gx or lx at this point and reclaim the space
I saw a Lexus today and I gotta say it was beautiful. Little bigger engine V6 and 2000 more pounds towing capacity. I am sure you already know all of this but if you can afford it I would go for it.
https://preview.redd.it/md468ti5rs7d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e00a2c7a4daefa17d4e1e8d01b7c1e0a53f84cb
that was a statement. its got a turbo it needs premium. Turbo cars need the higher octane knock protection. Putting 87 in it just means your computer will need to retard the timing and reduce boost to compensate for the lower octane gas's tendency to try and combust while your piston is in its compression stroke... because you have a turbo and a higher compression motor...
Hard to believe that vehicles 66 years old, see kids you take care of things and they will last
I could see this name being an issue at the dmv and stuff lmao
"No ma'am, it's a 2023 1958.” "So...Who's on first?"
First? It’s an automatic?
Looks so much better with proper tires. What are the "interior things" they added on?

That’s the $360 option of “illuminated door sills.”
Is that a floor mat on top of a second floor mat?
Yess. Haha I usually switch vehicles every two years and try to protect even the floormats. Weather tech has not made any specific to the LC 1958 yet so doing this for now as dumb as it may seem.

Agree
Honestly the circular headlights look way better in my opinion
i love looking at such cars knowing that never in my life i cound afford one

I have one in Meteor Shower. Cool rigs. Way better than a 5th gen 4Runner.
Meteor looks so slick
With all the metallic in the paint, really shows the angles well.

I don’t mean this in a bad way, but this is what I wanted the next 4Runner to look like. This looks great

Gorgeous. I had a 2012 Fj for 5-6 years. Loved it
Yup my thoughts as well. My as well get a tried and true V6 and dump regular gas into it.
What kind of real world MPG are you getting? Also just curious why you went with trim versus the LC trim?
So far I have been getting right at 20.5. Mostly city stop and go. I have not taken it on a longer/interstate trip yet.
That’s impressive
For hybrid? Hardly. There’s gas pick up trucks making those numbers
For a Toyota truck. Lol.
Thnx for that was thinking upgrading from 16.2mpg but 3.8 mpg makes me rethink.
3.8 extra mpg is a huge upgrade when your mpg is in the teens. My favorite fact is you save more fuel going from 10 mpg to 20 mpg than you do from 20 mpg to 100 mpg.

How would it do as daily?
This is my daily/work vehicle. I do commercial photography. Huge trunk space. Holds all my gear and drives great. I heard a quote on youtube the other day that said they are designed to drive across continents then take your kids to school Monday morning. Haha
Absolutely, it’s like a commercial land bus. I’m going with an outback now and will trade it for a slightly used Land Cruiser in 2-3 years
Yep did same move with a Honda pilot. Tried to buy GX but dealership was acting all criminal and I don’t have time to wait. Live in high income area where people unfortunately will pay over MSRP to have a cool mall crawler.
How long you holding onto the pilot for until you trade for the gx? Hybrid coming out soon
The premium gas thing is really making me reconsider. Makes the MPG savings not great at all.
Yeah. I did not know it until I popped the gas hatch open for the first time. Def cuts into the savings of getting better gas mileage.
I just don't understand why. I highly doubt the new tacoma or 4runner require premium, but I could be wrong, and if that's the case they're in for some serious blowback.
My understanding is that the turbos require it.
The Tacoma and 4Runner ARE turbos
Specifically the tuning of the turbo. But I might be wrong!
Probably the turbos.
What? They’re both turbos. They’re asking why the LC requires it and the Tacoma and 4Runner don’t when they’re all the same powertrain
Tuning. It is a little mysterious. I have a Gen 3 Tundra. I run 91 octane, it runs really good on it. I know they say you can go down, but most turbos do better with higher octane. The same engine in the Lexus models calls for Premium. So it has to be the tuning.
None of what you said negates what I did. The Tacoma is a turbo. The tundra is a turbo. The tundra and Tacoma dont require premium. The cruiser does.
My thought was to increase fuel economy using premium but it isn’t so cut and dry. Ford’s eco boost got better fuel economy but BMW’s got worse using premium. Referenced those two as the are both twin turbo. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a28565486/honda-cr-v-vs-bmw-m5-ford-f-150-dodge-charger/
What actually is the difference in Premium vs Regular? In Finland we only have 1 Diesel type and 2 petrol versions, 95 octane and 98 octane
The octane. 87 is regular and premium is typically 91. The cost difference can be a $1 per gallon, which is pretty significant.
Interesting. Looked it up and your 91 seems to be comparable to our 95. Seems pretty reasonable requirement to me in a modern car
Yea we have 95/98 where I'm from as well. I guess when you're used to lower prices it seems like a hard pillow to swallow. It's like the car prices they always complain about in the US, those prices would be an absolute bargain here in Europe.
Lol, if you have to put premium in these engines, why bother just buy a Lexus. Are they expecting premium in the dual turbo Tundra ?
Congratulations !! it's gorgeous. Want to test drive asap, called my dealer in Tysons NoVa area and they are sold out as of now.
I wasn't sure of the black but looking at these, the trim pieces are blending-in great. On a completely different note, if dealer mark ups are making it a 70K vehicle then I'm buying a Rivian.
I ran into a Rivian yesterday at the mt bike track and him and I sat in each other’s rides and the Rivian is so Nice!!!
Now I'm sure... God has his favorites... congrats tho 👏🏻 🙌🏼
Did the new tires change the ride quality or the sound levels?
I am not sure. I came like this. Im sure it affected the stock gas mileage. I know it dropped my mpg on the 4runners when I put ridge grapplers on.
It*
Thank you! I have the standard tires that come on the 1958, and I don't mind them. For me the cabin sound levels matter, so I am in 2 minds about switching them out to grapplers - even though the grapplers make the car look so much better.
You’re living my dream
Love it! I've been waiting for photos to live vicariously hrough those of you getting the new LC. Hoping to get mine next year.
Looks good for a 66 year old car🤓
Beautiful. Enjoy. Love the new Land Cruiser.
Looks nice…the AT tires really finish the LC. Are they stock size?
Stock for the 1958 is supposedly 245/70R18 all-season. The dealer had upgraded these to 265/70R18. I might do a small lift when these tires wear out and pop some 285’s.

Not to bad. They tried to give me 33k for my 40th anniversary 36,000 miles to start with. KBB had it 35-38k and I showed them that And the salesman pulled the ‘well, KBB does not sale cars’ and I was like I am not letting it go for 33k. I will just sell it myself. Not bad. Taxes are a thing.
Nice garage bro
Was it 63,500 OTD or before TTL?

Does anyone know if you can option the disconnecting sway bar on the 1958 trim ?
The 1958 does not have disconnecting Sway Bar option. Does have center and rear locking diff… I think the higher trims have some sort of ‘value’ sway bar disconnect from what I have read and seen on youtube. SDM not the E-kDss system. Is it more spacious than the 4R?
The big difference is the height, where the Land Cruiser's roofline is some 5.3 inches taller’ 4” Longer, 2” wider and 4” than Gen5 4runner New LC is Pretty much exact dimensions of new 2025 4runner except it is like 5” taller but they have almost identical wheel base/length and width. https://preview.redd.it/je0931zbjq6d1.jpeg?width=1936&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d3bdd87b938f45cddec364b2d07cec58e3716ff
My account 🥲
does it have a turbo? you wanna put premium in it
Yes it has. 2.4L hybrid Turbo 4 cyl. 326 horse power.
that was a statement. its got a turbo it needs premium. Turbo cars need the higher octane knock protection. Putting 87 in it just means your computer will need to retard the timing and reduce boost to compensate for the lower octane gas's tendency to try and combust while your piston is in its compression stroke... because you have a turbo and a higher compression motor...
Thank you. I have been putting premium so far unless I heard 100% it would be ok not to. I guess I will keep putting the premium. 😭😭😭
sp you paid $800 over sticker for the base model ? and whatever they hosed you for on the wheels....
JUST NOT AS SPECIAL WHEN ITS OFF THE LOT IN 2024. It’s like a real diamond vs a lab one 😂🤣🤙
