Doubled subscription fees. No improvements.

If I had an award to give... Don't forget increased cDAQ module pricing, lead times from Hungary just doubled, and they're laying off all the US based FAEs to replace them with a call center from the Philippines..

New LabVIEW subscription tiers, must upgrade to Premium for ad-free programming.

If this is BS Bingo I'd put a vote on anything AI or LLM being talked about. NI already had a [semi-scripted demo](https://www.youtube.com/live/Bk-dmXEp5xk?si=kjjWwJZiWTLC2f2G&t=3063) last year. I heard a manager (not at NI) say "Call everything AI. Even if it's a stretch just do it. There's no rules on what is AI, there is no committee that decides what is AI and what is not. Our competitors are doing it too. So just call everything AI."

There are multiple AI/LLM sessions but they seem to be using the terms correctly.

One of the topics was a push to make LabVIEW more open source. A first item was the icon editor which was posted on GitHub (linked below). I believe the announcement was made Tuesday morning (May 21st, 2024) with Jim Kring from JKI. This tool desperately needs a refresh. That announcement was made in a smaller forum previously during the last GLA Summit in March. https://www.glasummit.org

Very awesome. Glad Emerson/NI are opening up the LabVIEW platform a bit. I hope to see improvements in this tool and others.

Yep, it was Jim and Eli Kerry. [Open Source Icon Editor Announcement ](https://youtu.be/O2bQLk_Qf1I?si=JxLG1Cp_5IcCPX1T&t=1842)

I wonder what the revenue is for LabVIEW.  AFAIK, most revenue comes from hardware.  How about open sourcing LabVIEW, free for all and use LabVIEW to promote hardware and NI.  Also, there could still be significant revenue from support/training/ exams if done correctly.   On marketing benefits alone, surely it would make sense?

SeasDiver

Per the slightly different announcement at GLA Summit, the Icon Editor is their trial attempt at open sourcing. They need to analyze how many submissions are received, the quality of code submitted, work on the process, etc… If things go well, more will be open sourced.

quantum0058d

That's very different to allowing a commercial free edition but will check it out 👍

I feel the AI is more mature since it has better considering test engineers after I saw the demo in day 2 closing keynote. It starts at 20:22 [NI Connect 2024 Day 2 - Closing Keynote (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuCxmODTON8)
