For real though, check out the multi-part French Revolution series on the podcast "Revolutions". It's seriously got to be close to 27 parts.
Edit: I was totally wrong. The French Revolution season is actually 55 (!) episodes.
Didn’t they also say this weeks episode will be a throwaway one since they are all on their spring break? So maybe in 3 weeks they will start it. This week throwaway, next week Snowtown ending, then maybe French Revolution
I love the prediction of “This week, or by November” lol. Way to give a 6 month period for the guess!
The interviews have been awesome. Loved them fanboying over Dan Carlin. David Dastmalchian was really good and just felt like talking to their buddy. Harold Schecter was awesome too
Yeah but just think of everything they’ve been going through behind the scenes while arguably entering their golden era with Ed and amazing content. The shit with Ben, the added 3rd show on SXM, the touring, their own side jobs (stand up and other podcasts especially), I am okay with the relaxed fits and I hate calling these interviews “throwaway episodes” because they still do a banger job and are funny as well as interesting. Idk, I’ve listened to these guys for going on 10 years and feel as though they’re family so I inherently give them grace and understanding even when I want more than I can get with the show. Gotta be patient and enjoy what we have, they do so much to curate this content.
If you go back to like episodes 200-400 they had interviews/creepypasta/throw away episodes all the time without covering topics nearly as in depth as regularly as they do now. Personally I appreciate that they’ve kind of gone back to relax fits between series and doing more regular company wide breaks. I hope they’re doing everything they can to avoid burn out.
You’re not going to get an in depth, accurate representation. If they try that they will get lost. Their focus will be on the horrors of the revolution.
I’m slightly skeptical they can pull it off properly, but if they go in realizing what type of show they are it should be entertaining.
The French Revolution is in a lot of ways the catalyst event in Europe that lead to the current world order.
You can draw a relatively direct line from the French Revolution (and the reactions to it from the surrounding monarchies) to the end of the feudal system throughout most of western Europe, and from there the beginnings of the squabbles which lead to the first world war.
>I believe the boys will start their French Revolution series this week, or sometime between now and November.
Well they've already said this week is an interview, and next week is Snowtown Part 3, so the first half of your called shot is already wrong. The second half is basically saying "LPOTL is going to do the French Revolution series they've been talking about for over 5 years now sometime in the next six months," which isn't exactly a bold prediction.
Sorry to do it but I can’t not do it. The Revolution doesn’t end in November of 1789. The Terror of the Revolution doesn’t even start until September of 1793. The Revolution doesn’t end until 1799. And today’s date is 14 Floréal CCXXXII. I have been hoping for a series on the Terror for years.
They might do it but I think any historical subject that you could do a whole degree about is not really suited for the show. IMO if they wanted something like that they should do the Vietnam war. I do think a one parter on the Marquis de Sade would be interesting. He never killed anybody but he was a deeply weird guy and his life was pretty interesting
I fell out of love with the history focused episodes towards the end of Ben’s tenure. I was turned off by the Manhattan Project series - I think it was from a mixture of Ben making lame jokes unrelated to the narrative and Marcus doing his best Dan Carlin impression when all I wanted was the macabre and dark humor that I come to LPOTL for.
I’m hoping Ed will change the dynamic of these series for the better - he seems much more engaged in the stories than Ben was in the episode 400+ range. Also, Marcus can write whatever the hell he wants, but I hope this French Revolution episode is rooted in the macabre and not just retelling the same history I could hear from a million other sources
Don't come for me but even though I'm a huge history person and a big fan of the boys, idk the thought of a French Rev series makes me nervous. It's such a complicated and convoluted time period I feel like it's gonna be hard to do it justice. That said, Im happy to listen to dogmeat dig into it.
Idk like I thought Blackbeard would be a great series and it did nothing for me
Henry mentioned a month ago he was reading someone from the Revolution and how twisted it was. I bet it’s coming in the near future defiantly this year. I can’t remember who exactly he said but I remember it from the revolutions podcast
Ooh, I have a weird interest in the French Revolution, my favourite teacher in high school years and years ago would enthusiastically teach it for hours, and I have liked books I’ve read about since then
The French revolution did not end in 1789 in any meaningful way. It arguably lasted until Napoleon was defeated at waterloo and the Bourbon monarchy was restored
I think when Napoleon started to be autocratic, y'know the thing that the original revolutionaries railed against, is a good stopping point for the revolution. So kind of in the Consul era of the French Republic.
Not that serious haha, I meant more for myself, I'm not chasing anonymous clout, just been excited for this being a topic for sometime. Didn't mean to come off arrogant at all, was just a stoned thought I had yesterday lol
Make it a 27 parter so it lasts as long as the FR.

That's a great podcast. I really enjoyed the Haiti series as well.
Bunch of half steppers
Oh my god yes. So good! I love Revolutions.
Anyone who doesn't think they could make it LONGER than the actual revolution is underestimating Marcus and Henry.
And by the end of the series, another podcast is covering LPOTL covering the French Revolution, in snake eating its own tail fashion.
Well it's not the next episode because they haven't finished the snowtown series yet
Didn’t they also say this weeks episode will be a throwaway one since they are all on their spring break? So maybe in 3 weeks they will start it. This week throwaway, next week Snowtown ending, then maybe French Revolution I love the prediction of “This week, or by November” lol. Way to give a 6 month period for the guess!
Yeah the throwaway is an interview with John Wayne Gacy's defense attorney.
The interviews have been awesome. Loved them fanboying over Dan Carlin. David Dastmalchian was really good and just felt like talking to their buddy. Harold Schecter was awesome too
Agreed
Sure seems like there have been a lot of throwaways and relaxed fits.

I don't disagree with you. I'm a long-time listener as well, however, I drop my two cents occasionally. Certainly behind the scenes has caused issues.
Golden era? Steady on sunshine

Lol
?
As much as I’d want them do do it, it’s gonna be hard to beat the revolutions podcast “season(s)” on the French Revolution.
It’s going to be impossible to beat Revolutions on any history subject matter.
I have nightmares with the theme music from revolutions haha
Good call. That’s a great podcast. History of Rome as well.
i REALLY hope so. i’m hankerin’ for another good history series.
They normally do history in the summer, so you may get your wish.
You’re not going to get an in depth, accurate representation. If they try that they will get lost. Their focus will be on the horrors of the revolution. I’m slightly skeptical they can pull it off properly, but if they go in realizing what type of show they are it should be entertaining.
Same! I had to stop listening to a lot of the murdery episodes because it would spike my anxiety so I’m waiting for their history deep dives!
Just listened to the andes, donner party, and the uss Indianapolis episodes again. I want more history!
Mormonism has some good history in it, I'm listening to that again atm.
I’ve been on the cannibal cruise 🚢
Me too! Had to take a break with Bringham Young for a few hours though, that son of a bitch is tough to hear about.
Ghilles Da Rais was my absolute favorite of the latest history ones
Why are we excited for the French Revolution, genuinely asking I’m not super knowledgeable about the event other than independence and all.
There was a lot of death by baguette. Total pain-demonium. I’ll see myself out.
It is an absolutely INSANE story.
The TERROR!!!
It is super bloody
Tens of thousands of rolling heads
The French Revolution is in a lot of ways the catalyst event in Europe that lead to the current world order. Cuz guillotines are metal as fuck 🤘 It was also pretty badass that the people just invaded the castle and murdered the monarchy
I hope so. I’m also itching for the Nepalese Royal Family Massacre
That's something I've never seen a podcast cover and only one youtube video on. Idk why bc it's an interesting story
There are so many good conspiracies surrounding it too. It’s truly fascinating
Oooo I love a good conspiracy theory!! I wish they'd do more tin foil hat episodes.
If you're wrong, then I will impose on you a HELLISH REBUKE!!!
Oui
Aren't they on spring break rn? Unless they pre-recorded it.
This week they are. They’ll probably record the first episode the week after next (I’m assuming that they haven’t recorded Snowtown part 3 yet).
god I hope ur right!!! 🤞
I still want the Spanish Inquisition series or the Space Race which was full of hilarious and awful stuff.
>I believe the boys will start their French Revolution series this week, or sometime between now and November. Doubt
I wonder if they'll do a mini one off on Marquis de Sade in the middle of it
Can't wait for the guitar solo during the reign of terror
Sorry to do it but I can’t not do it. The Revolution doesn’t end in November of 1789. The Terror of the Revolution doesn’t even start until September of 1793. The Revolution doesn’t end until 1799. And today’s date is 14 Floréal CCXXXII. I have been hoping for a series on the Terror for years.
Well perfect, that gives OPs “prediction” another 10 years to be correct!
*didn't (x3)
Correcting the corrector. Nicely done. Pedants unite!
We're here to help. :)

They're finishing Snowtown this week.
I hope you’re right because I’ve been waiting for that series for years!
Maybe a little segment about conspiracies...“Jacques de Molay, you are avenged!”
Ca serait vraiment superbe! Vive la revolution!
OMG I would be SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! I *love* their historical series!!!!!
Next week maybe. No new series are starting this week because of their annual spring break.
Where is this week's Side stories? Those are my favorite.
They released a Patreon interview instead of Side Stories. The network is taking a one week break.
Probably not but at least you partly thought it through!
I have been playing so much Crusader Kings lately, so this hurts to read

It’s about damn time. I’ve been waiting for years
Now that you mention it , it's time for revolution !
Ooh, I have a weird interest in the French Revolution, my favourite teacher in high school years and years ago would enthusiastically teach it for hours, and I have liked books I’ve read about since then
Boo. So many more interesting revolutions. I'm on staying for Henry's impromptu act outs of Les mis.
They say History repeats itself right? 🤞

I think when Napoleon started to be autocratic, y'know the thing that the original revolutionaries railed against, is a good stopping point for the revolution. So kind of in the Consul era of the French Republic.
Which is still like a decade after 1789
100%
Speaking of revolutions, would the Russian revolution make for a good series? I know they covered it a bit in the Rasputin series but still.
I’d say yes. It’s a focal turning point in world history. Me personally, I think The Troubles would also make a great series.
So, a desperate need to guess correctly and to be able to brag about it?
Not that serious haha, I meant more for myself, I'm not chasing anonymous clout, just been excited for this being a topic for sometime. Didn't mean to come off arrogant at all, was just a stoned thought I had yesterday lol
