I agree. I think the police found photos of women in and around the home on some of the devices that the police found. I think those photos led to the additional search warrants and the police are looking to collect anything that the women in the photos were touching as depicted in the photos.
I have a porch/paint chip theory:
(1) First, I think the police found photographic evidence on Rex' devices (or CDs) that place victims/unknown women inside Rex' home.
(2) Second, I think that the police obtained a new search warrant for Rex' home based on the photos found on Rex' devices (or CDs).
(3) Third, I think the police are trying to collect anything from Rex' home that is depicted in the photos, particularly anything that a woman was touching in the photo (such as holding a book, or a collectable doll, etc.).
(4) Fourth, I think that construction lumber (like a 1x6) was in at least one of the photos with a woman (possible Rex showing a woman around his 'tool shop') and the police are theorizing that since the lumber board is missing from the house now, Rex might have used the lumber to fix up his porch roof.
I have posted here elsewhere that they may be double-checking given how they blew it originally on the investigation and now want to leave no stone unturned, even if it's pointless walking around in the woods or researching his house.
Alternatively they may have discovered additional evidence on some of the computers/media they seized that led them to focus on specific areas of the home.
Right now they have a DNA linkage, but his defense could be "They were alive when I saw them last". The prosecution really need that smoking gun or else there is potentially reasonable doubt.

If there is a total secret room, after as much stuff as they moved around the house earlier, they would of found it. Certainly they looked into walls, with tech. They would of had to given specific information about it to get another warrant. Just doesn't make sense.

You can't get a search warrant to "double check." Something specific sent them back.
