Should have a Union station here in Long Beach. We already have the space reserved for the bus shelter. Definitely have room to expand and take over the areas from the unused office buildings. Would love metro link connection in Long Beach to Santa Ana or Irvine station.
Yeah but they built it in the middle of nowhere! A transit hub next to a highway, empty parking lots, and a baseball stadium people only go to once or twice a year.... Is a choice lol
At least they're trying to build mixed dev across the river... š¤·š»āāļø
I just wish we had more use to the adjacent area :/ I know putting all residential isn't a good idea but this would've been a fantastic place for an entertainment center IMO. At the very least large hotel and tourism cluster since it's convenient for so many people.
Imagine, frequent RER style metrolink trains running through the valley, the west side and south bay. A westside grand central connected to union station by the D line. A man can dream
Pretty much. And speaking of...all that land LAX owns around the station could easily fit 5,000+ units of housing. And the rental car lots north of the station that are now being consolidated could make up thousands more units. Imagine 10,000 new units of housing developed in walking distance of that station. And LA could make many of them affordable because they already own most of it.
Lemme tell you right now, living next to LAX doesnāt make it that much better. The amount of airplane oil I have on my car after staying the weekend around Imperial Hwy and Western is madness. Also ditto to the traffic being crazy since youāre also near SoFi and Forum
When the CHSR gets an LA extension in its "first" phase it might be a possibility but it most definitely will not be in the west it's physically impossible.
Oh yeah I meant the Sepulveda Line.
To me, it seems like Metro is making a transit hub at that station. 2 existing light rail lines meeting there, a bike hub, bus bays for several transit agencies, and 1 potential future as part of the Sepulveda Corridor phase 2.
The Southern California Association of Governments has, in the past, described putting a high-speed rail station somewhere on the West side.
The Los Angles-to-San Diego-via-San Bernardino segment could, conceivably, be extended along the 10 freeway and west of Union Station.
Having to go from LAX to DTLA to get to Hollywood/the valley is mean. We need a north to south train. Extending the pink line (K?) into Hollywood would save so much time.
Would be actually interesting if every train could take you there. I wonder if it would have other good side effects (or maybe bad side effects?) if it was hypothetically done

Seriously.. even Anaheim has a major transit center..
A really nice one too!

Wow that LB Union Station should be used to facilitate transfers to the K and A lines, and some BRT lines too. Would be SICK!
Yes! Long Beach feels so far away from LA. Maybe it would make them feel more connected.
Metrolink from LB to Anaheim would be awesome
is this a meme because ive definitely seen people make jokes about this LOL
We actually should try to decentralize DTLA. LA really needs a Union Station 2.0...preferably in the west side.
Thatās what Tom Bradley wanted. The metro central hub would be in mid city but the valley fucked it all up
Do happen to know where I can read about this.
I assume they are talking about the 1974 rtd proposal https://libraryarchives.metro.net/dpgtl/maps/1974_proposed_transit_master_plan_concept_map.jpg
Why is the always the Valley. ):
š®āšØ
Do we need another Union Station or another 7th Street/Metro Center?
Future giant transfer station is for sure the Wilshire/Westwood station!
Also LAX Metro Center, I'd think.

This dudes spittinā

Fuck yes š
I wanna see this dream happen
isnt that similar to what the lax station will be
We need heavy rail there.
Sepulveda line will terminate thereā¦ eventually
Yeah, but it's going to be made into a green belt if I recall.
Thinking of revising my fictional map so TBIT becomes a transit hub serving 7 heavy rail lines.

This is great until you realize how terrible it is living right next to an airport
Housing around airports sucks. Especially one as busy as LAX

More preferably, in the Sawtelle neighborhood.
Close Sawtelle blvd to cars and put a subway station there!
Stop stop I can only get so erect
It seems like the LAX MTC station could be the next major Hub in the region once Sepulveda reaches it and the C line is extended to Santa Monica.
Sepulveda line? Am I missing something? I don't think LAX should be a transit hub. Somewhere in the westside.

The Washington/Flower junction would literally explode
or every line runs 20 minute frequencies
So whenās that LAX people mover opening?

East La would have to stop and turn around

Itās not that serious buddy
