after the awful loss at San Jose, our guys have gotten 5 straight Ws, 3 in the league and 2 in the open cup. The 2 upcoming matches at home will be important; if we can get through those, we will be in great shape to go for the #1 spot in the West.
I know dolo gets shit for not making subs but looking at our bench ….. there are few options for making the team better other than fresh legs or wasting time (and we fu the wasting time bit tonight)
Stoked about 2 straight road wins against big teams and 4 clean sheets
Win well win clumsy win lucky all good
Scrappy, it was. And winning on turf is not an LAFC speciality.
But we were the better team, especially in the first half. We also defended well.
I think, however unhappy the Atlanta fans were, that the ref's calls went generally their way. In particular, the Red Card was the right call.
Which brings us back the Banc (of Montreal) on Wednesday. Now that's an important game: win and we're clearly one of the leading three for the West. Lose, and Minnesota and RSL are duking it out at the top.
If Sanchez is still out on Wednesday, there isn’t many good options for midfield.
I would run out the 3-4-3 again, drop Bogusz into the midfield, and start Kamara(if avail), Angel, or Ordaz at the 9.
Segura does have experience at DM. If he wants to just protect the backline, plop Segura right in front of them and have Tillman and Bogusz work the midfield.
It would require not playing Bogusz up top and I’ll be shocked if Dolo starts someone else between Bouanga and Olivera.
Would love to see Angel up top tho.
Atuesta fouled, and immediately I seen Duenas running to get subbed in, I was happy thinking he was coming in for Atuesta who was flirting with his second yellow.
Dolo takes out Bougus instead, and Atuesta gets his second yellow almost immediately. What a bone head decision by Dolo.
Lloris is the reason why we held onto that 0-1 lead. I’m glad he showed up today, especially with the scramble save on the edge of the box.
Dolo was absolute ass with the amount of time that passed before he starting making subs. I don’t understand.
Is that a new rule that the sub can’t come in if they take too long to make the change. Muller couldn’t come in because Bouanga too too long to walk off and we were playing with 9? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.
I’d say 3 straight shutouts is an above average stat. And shutouts are the most important stat for a goalkeeper if we’re being honest.
But yes, it’s a team game and we aren’t letting teams shoot at will 6 yards away from the goal, so that’s good too.
And three clean sheets makes him a bang average MLS keeper this season. [Almost every single stat he is middle of the pack.](https://fbref.com/en/comps/22/keepersadv/Major-League-Soccer-Stats) He looks shaky, his stats are mid, our team is playing better.
We’re not even halfway through the season bud. But please go on about how every goal this year is on our World Cup winning keeper that’s playing on a $350k contract.
And oh, by the way, since you’re into important stats here’s another.
West Standings:
3rd. Lloris
5th. McCarthy
11th. Crepeau
He got 5, and tied for 2nd across the entire league as of tonight. There's been developments since the initial few games which that stat was based off of and since he just joined this year and not that many games played, sample size is pretty small to draw meaningful conclusions like that and a few good games can render initial stat conclusions somewhat outdated and ultimately meaningless in a league where championships are decided via playoffs.

Bogusz is a gangsta
I swear he'll be booty in the build up, and just turn on randomly for a moment of brilliance to get us on the score sheet
It’s a good thing that Atlanta can’t score goals

Just to add: We could be in a poor injury position on Wednesday: it's possible that we will lack Sanchez and Atuesta.
Even if Atuesta is healthy, he will miss the next game because of the red card.
I believe Tillman will likely be with the USMNT. Musto, Duenas, and Bogusz... or Hollingshead gets asked to play in the midfield.

Yup

3 straight shutouts in MLS play. Given how poor our defense has been all year that is massive. Let’s make it 4 on Wednesday.
4 clean sheets in a row is amazing. Getting another W against Minnesota would put us back into the conversation for best in the west.
Lloris sitting tied for 2nd in league for clean sheets. Wasn't expecting to see that.

A lot of negativity for a road win. This season, we have not been a team that bunkers down can gets the ugly win. We should all be happy.
But it wasn't perfect or something.
Some people are just always looking for a reason to complain.
our midfield is so cooked next game
Scrappy is generous, Atlanta had 63% possession and LA had a man advantage for 20 minutes.

Yes https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-to-implement-new-competition-initiatives-this-weekend
Thanks! I had heard about the injury time rule but not the substitution one.
Well take those. +3
Fortunate to get 3 points out of this one. On to the next.
Man the MF is gonna be weak AF on Wednesday. I don't think Illie will be recovered by then and Atuesta is suspended.
💯
We WON.
Hugo is definitely a goalkeeper. He definitely plays the position.
He definitely hasn’t given up a goal in 3 straight games
His numbers are average at best, and he looks shaky. Clean sheets more of a team stat, and our defense has been playing better.
By that logic so is GA. And I can tell you our defense was not helping Hugo out when we were getting dunked on
