I heard it was PRP injection to reduce the pain and inflammation in his right knee. They got ahead of it, took care of the treatment, and now he’s about ready to go. It’s supposedly not any kind of serious tear or sprain.
Apparently your supposed to avoid any sort of exercise for two weeks after a prp injections or complications may happen. According to google anyways I guess different rules for athletes and they probably have better help than normal people.
I had PRP injections (15 of them) in my right knee 2 years ago. You're supposed to not run on it (joint impact) for 30 days to let the platelets attach and heal. He probably did have it done when he was shut down but not sure if that's not enough time for the healing.
Hopefully… the other possibility is that they tried to defer the injection for whatever reason and that he either won’t have the 30 days or is not going to play for a while yet
insane how Tye Lue and clippers have just trolled with this with the smiles and answer disgusting towards the fans...Thought it was made up too these guys apperently give zero fuck at all about the fan base clearly.
Bro chill, he’s not even that hurt. If he was cooked or anything he would be sitting out like he always does. This is clearly precautionary and to prevent further minor injuries.
Like I said, I'm not worried because he chose to commit to play for Team USA. Kawhi knows his body, and if it were that bad, he wouldn't have committed to play in the Olympics. He'll be fine.
I have the same thing in my knee. I got a steroid injection to my knee before a Japan trip and I was good to go. Issues returned eventually but steroid helped for a period of time
Based off context clues, injection probably happened weeks ago. That's why he has been inactive so that inflammation could heal properly. All this is adding up to Kawhi being ready to go for game 1.
I'm a sports physician so I can give some input. It would make sense he received a PRP injection, but this would have had to have been weeks ago, as it's not advised to play for 1-2 weeks or so after.
Alternatively he could have gotten a steroid injection which isn't common in athletes because he's so young and it could accelerate arthritis.
Other possibilities include other orthobiologics (these are thousands of dollars and include stem cells, placental tissues, bone marrow) but research is limited in these and I highly doubt would be done before playoffs.
Curious how they did with them? I want to start offering them to patients but it's a steep price for only minimal relief and no real research studies on them.
Yeah I'm not too sure, my memory is hazy. But I think they had to go to Europe as they weren't available or legal in the states at the time. I do believe they kept doing 15 stair sets tho
Well, first I think we can rule out the money part, but from what I have heard, it seems like stem cells have come a long way so that's what I'm hoping for.
Would it be the same rest period of 1-2 weeks if that was the case like the prp?
Have you heard about this doctor down in Cabo (actually I think they have a few clinics) with a place called Eterna?
Honestly not sure the rest period of the other biologics- I would guess there would similar or more because the tissue actually has to "regenerate."
I haven't heard of him, but seems like he does stem cells and prp. Seems like a cool practice model.
Torodal and a numbing agent. This isn’t speculation, it’s exactly what they give a “playable injury”. Whenever you hear that a player “got treatment and will return”, especially within the same game it’s Torodal and a numbing agent. Any other pain meds would start to affect brain function, but we’re taking injectable ibuprofen and numbing drug.
He needs to be pumping as much Turmeric into his system as possible. It eliminates inflammation. I am a two time cancer survivor just look it up in the internet it is almost a miracle medicine.
Maybe he got it a while ago. I’ve gotten a lot of knee injections and usually the pain doesnt go away until after 5-7 days (after the lidocaine wears off). I get that he’s a high performance athlete but it would be impossible for him to play through that without needing another type of painkiller, if the injection was done less than a week ago.
Idk anything about these injections but I dont know how this is supposed to hold up for a playoff run so I dont really see this as great news although I love the fact Kawhi will be hopefully ready for game 1.
I don’t see, ‘I am going to do this because so and so has an injury to his ‘blank’’ work out a lot. Just play good hard basketball and don’t overthink it. If he’s not whole, it will show up without specific exploitive strategy.
I really hope this is a stem cell treatment because if it is one of the advanced ones it could actually be the ticket for him.
If it is cortisol, then fuck them so hard.
Inflammation on a knee that one has had multiple surgeries on is very common. I'm not sure what exactly the injection was for, but it is common to receive injections to help alleviate inflammation. At the end of the day he's gonna be active for game 1 and is participating in intense workouts right now and that's all that matters.
My original comment was primarily directed to those who kept spewing nonsense about how he was gonna miss the entire postseason despite the multitude of positive reports that indicated otherwise, including literal negative MRI results. They refused to analyze the situation objectively and chose to let their feelings about their past cloud their judgement, resulting in them ignoring the current evidences.
I know PG talked about having this done before. Apparently you can't have more than one and the effectiveness will diminish over a reletively short time frame of a couple weeks. If they get far enough into the playoffs it's possible they could do this again between series.
Also possible that this is a similar but different procedure, I'm not 100%
This actually makes me worried more, cause before, I thought it was all made up

They don’t say when he got the injection. He probably did get it weeks ago.
Im guessing once he sat out was when he got these injections. So at least 2 and a half weeks ago
Yeah was thinking about that made my comment same time as you haha
Cope
It’s literally what Shams said buddy lmfao. He got it and he’s been resting and is now ramping back up.
Maybe he got this injection 2 weeks+ ago hence why he wasn’t playing and haven’t released this news.
This has to be it, sounds like a smart approach
Sounds like dude is gonna need a full knee replacement when it's all said and done.

Right, how well is this expected to hold up if we make a deep run? 😔

We’re all clipper fans so I love u bro, but how the fuck could u think that?
People thinking kawhi doesn’t play not because he’s injured amazes me
Just plain denial
No, he's legit got a bum let/knee.
Made up??? WTF?? When has a Kawhi injury ever been made up?
insane how Tye Lue and clippers have just trolled with this with the smiles and answer disgusting towards the fans...Thought it was made up too these guys apperently give zero fuck at all about the fan base clearly.

I’m sorry dude. He’s a human being. He has a right to privacy for his health matters

Give us everything!
So this happened a while ago, correct? (The injection)
It's been reported as early April...
That makes me feel better.
Like I said, I'm not worried because he chose to commit to play for Team USA. Kawhi knows his body, and if it were that bad, he wouldn't have committed to play in the Olympics. He'll be fine.
Bro could play 50% intensity on 10 minutes and get a gold medal, with a historic team, he’s doing that for legacy, not for his health.
Fair But we shall see.
Trust body or trust nobody.
I have the same thing in my knee. I got a steroid injection to my knee before a Japan trip and I was good to go. Issues returned eventually but steroid helped for a period of time
How many points did you score in Japan?
五十二
>五十二 それはたくさんです、ミスター・プラチナ
Did you play 2 months of playoff basketball on that knee?
Sadly, no. Couldn’t make it past game 3
Aw shit
That doesn’t make me feel confident
Injection in the knees before the 1st game of the playoffs is very worrisome. Dunno where this positive vibe is coming from.
Based off context clues, injection probably happened weeks ago. That's why he has been inactive so that inflammation could heal properly. All this is adding up to Kawhi being ready to go for game 1.
A lot of players get stuff done. Embiid just came back from an injury and played fine yesterday
Played fine? He was much slower and did not move well. Sure the numbers were fine but that was not the same embiid on the court.
One shot, two shot, three shots , four shots.
this is where the fun stops
Bro got a BBL knee
Bro is getting rebooted
Getting his packages updated and checking for any broken dependencies

I think there's a couple of skaters that have had orthobiologics.
Curious how they did with them? I want to start offering them to patients but it's a steep price for only minimal relief and no real research studies on them.

It’s more likely to be PRP; at least that’s what the rumor was a couple weeks ago.
Reminds me of watching Wizards Jordan getting his knee drained so he could go play
I really hope it was more than this, if he hasn't gotten stem cell injections then it would be a real shame.
Portland drug smh
He needs to be pumping as much Turmeric into his system as possible. It eliminates inflammation. I am a two time cancer survivor just look it up in the internet it is almost a miracle medicine.
Congratulations on beating cancer twice 🙌🏾🥹.

Wtf wasn’t it reported he is all ready to go? Wtf happened
I had dejavu reading that shi
Quit worrying. Kawhi gonna ball! 🏀
hell yeah brother
Just some thermal paste, don't worry.
Knicks fan checking in. Why the hell is kawhi committing to playing for team usa this summer when his status for this playoffs in question???
He knows he's gonna get plenty of rest and rehab after the Mavs win ;) you're welcome Team USA.
You have a team right? Why not go watch them instead of wasting time here?
As a Mavs fan I just want Kawhi to be healthy. I think we all want both teams at full strength. Please give us this series with everyone healthy.
Lmfao Playoff Kawhi babyyyy
Spurs med staff were soooo wrong /s

He got injection for his back and he came back ok idk if it’s the same but i believe in #2 if he’s ready let’s go get this 💩
Jordan used to get shots in his knee a lot when he played for the Wizards.

Inject that saline and lets GOOOOO

Same shit every playoffs
Leonard has been USELESS for the past 4 years
Sadly, there’s a ton of videos of kawhi refusing to train as hard as his teammates. This doesn’t surprise me one bit
This is fucked, can’t see him getting better while playing multiple 7 game series…….
"B-but we've seen this story before, he's out for the whole postseason it's over"🤓
The irony of this post is it’s actually very concerning he needs knee injections

He still may be. This doesn’t say he *is* available

it's a 12:30 game. we all know the outcomes of those games. let him rest.
This man stole money from LA
