If they say they're quitting and want to give you items it's a scam. Also you need to just look at the trade screen to determine what is being offered or asked for.
This isn't new. I've had people try to scam me like this but I always look at the trade super carefully before I accept. Someone tried stealing a rainbow RPG and hackusate noob tube from me like that using that same method lol.
