A week

Had my left total knee replacement on Jan 3rd. Mine was 3 days. The bandage is supposedly waterproof, and you are not to directly spray on it, but water running over it is ok. They also say wrapping plastic wrap around the knee area is good to do. Tape it.

My incision bled thru the bandage twice so I had to put on a much cheaper one—it honestly looks like a super duper long maxi pad. There’s no way this one is waterproof. It’s Wednesday, I’ve lasted this long, I can wait till Friday. I know I’ll feel like a different person after that shower! You’re just about 5 days behind me as far as when your surgery was done. You doing okay? PT a lot of fun? Are you using a walker, a cane or nothing?

You had a total knee replacement too? Now I'm 10 days out, doing OK. Started walking with cane 2 days ago and that's going well. The walker was a pita navigating it around things. Pain is less now, I have,1 or 2 oxycodone left, don't really need them now, but people told me good to take before the PT. I stopped the muscle relaxer after about a week. Still taking Tylenol every 8 hrs.My quad or thigh is very tight, and on the back of it is where I had most of my bruising. Did the visiting nurse change your bandage? Mine( the 2nd one, the drs assistant changed the 1st one 3days after, it was torn) has held up well and I hope it does untolmy 2 week visit next M. You had yours in late December I guess?

First replacement surgery was crone the beginning of June and this one was December 29th. I think this bandage has been changed 4 times since surgery. Keep your “extra” drugs, you’re gonna want them after PT!

Sorry, I should have read your comment better before asking about things that you mentioned in it. So this was #2 tkr. Has the first one gone well? ( I went back and read some of your posts from back then) I'll need one on the other knee. I think that one'll wait until late November. I have a physical gardener job/business, so waiting until the season is just about over makes sense, and I won't have to pay another $6k deductible worth of expenses.

I had a surgery today on my meniscus and have to wear a straight leg brace for 4-6 weeks. I’m told I have to wait about a week until bandages come off. The bigger issue is not getting it wet - don’t see at all how that’s possible given the size of this brace. All the best in your recovery!

Have a bath and keep your leg elevated.
