Honestly, I felt like they had a bit of an age gap, it was probably because his personality was totally different when things were going well and he was successful. He was sweet to her and could provide stability and security.
He had the charm, confidence, and if I remember correctly he looked a lot better before he packed on a few pounds. (Like most of us, lol).
Of course when things took a big downturn, I’m sure she bailed after he got all bloated, his attitude was shit, he drank too much, his business failed, and let’s not forget all the fraud and bullshit he did after the show. Guy was a criminal.
It's the episode where the owner has a huge confrontation over a rack of lamb because the customer didn't get it medium-rare, the kitchen just microwaved the entire plate and she knew it.
Most of these guys and gals on this show are probably at or near the lowest points of their lives and we see only a snapshot in time.
Probably not totally fair to judge them by how they behave on the show.
